discussion why do we feel down even if you try to search for the "why" ?

I just experience so much blues moment for no reason at times. Sometimes I feel that I'm not even living in the presence moment of time. So much overthinking accumulates and lack of actions just brings me down. I end up feeling defeated in life and don't even feel like working on anything even though I just have ton of things to work on. My mind just doesn't give me support. It's always finding ways to avoid the work. It's very easy to grab a snack and use the phone instead of doing tasks because that gives you stress or confusion so you just end up not doing it.

You start to do things that you know aren't good but old habits are source of comfort and pleasure. You binge food, stay up late and doom scroll. You don't take actions and you feel this victimization as if something is wrong with you and u don't even realize how much time has been wasted.

I've created a TV Show in my head, and it became real in Brazil. story

I've always struggled with bullying, or as we called it, being picked on. At school and at home, in Brazil.

At school, we kind of expected it since I was the chubby kid, "four eyes," dramatic, sentimental... But at home? It was constant and harsh. I eventually got used to it. I lost myself in movies and TV shows (shoutout to Sony, WB, TNT). To avoid bullying at school, I would "hide" in the library or sit alone in a corner of the yard, creating my own TV series.

I started doing theater, getting involved with independent film folks in Brazil, and discovered my passion. Throughout my teenage years, I continued to escape bullying, often skipping classes to hang out in libraries.

In my first year of high school, I dropped out. I'd leave to "go to class," take the bus downtown to the public library, museums, cultural centers... I spent my afternoons there, returning home as if I'd been to school. In my mind, I was already on my path to a career.

At one point, the school even canceled my enrollment. This was public school in Brazil in 1994—when the internet was still a dream and cell phones barely worked. Naturally, my parents found out and were shocked and angry...

But I had something "right" in my mind. I was going to be an actor. I was going to have my own TV series! How could someone who didn’t even want to finish basic school achieve that? But willpower is an unmeasurable force.

With willpower, we can build buildings, civilizations, families...

In the 2000s, I foun that "The Secret" doc online. My sister and I dabbled in it, half-jokingly. I read the book, watched the film, and dived deeper into the authors' works. (Yes, I’m a nerd—I was the kid who skipped class to read in the library!)

I began practicing gratitude for everything I had—health, possessions, life—and imagined what it felt like to already have my dreams: seeing myself on TV, giving interviews, on the cover of newspapers...

In 2005/06, while watching a TV commercial featuring part of the cast from a film called "Houve Uma Vez Dois Verões," my friend Thiago Lazeri and I thought, "This would make a great series." We envisioned friends talking, using slang and inside jokes, just being themselves.

We created it, filmed it with an old camera Thiago’s dad had given him, and then wondered, “What now?” So we pulled out the phone book. Yes, this was 2005! We searched for "TV stations," found contacts for all of them in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

We first approached the nearest station, a public cable channel called POATV. We thought, "Let’s name the series POARS and pitch it to them."

We did, and they liked it. They started airing it without even listening to the sound—just on visuals.

“We like it! Young people, city imagery. Let’s air it. Leave us the DVD; we’ll show it throughout the day.”

We left in disbelief. We had a TV series!

We later moved to a bigger channel and began producing daily 15-minute episodes. At ULBRATV, we created over 60 episodes. Then we went to RBS, the local Globo network, which aired it on their channel TVCOM, where we produced over 270 episodes of the first youth comedy soap opera in the region—completely different from anything else on Brazilian TV.

The entire story could fill a book, maybe a series of books, or even a TV series itself. The behind-the-scenes stories intertwined with the show, including a devastating fire that destroyed our studio...

Some episodes, in poor quality, are on YouTube.

It was called **vidAnormal**. It aired Monday to Friday at 6 PM and ranked 3rd in audience share, sometimes even hitting 1st during reruns at midnight.
Here is the imdb link: https://imdb.com/title/tt6258018/

I truly believe that willpower was a huge catalyst for all this. Of course, it took a lot of effort, dedication, and work. But positive thinking, combined with chasing my dreams, created incredible, unimaginable opportunities.

It’s not just about thinking and waiting for things to materialize. You have to make it

The art of doing nothing Article

Life is going great, do something. I am in dismay, do something.

Do something, Do something, Do Something.

How have we come to this phase in our culture, where we always want to do something about life?

Ambitions and Borrowed aspirations have taken over what we really are.

So much so that enjoyment and relaxation are also replaced with amusement.

An activity.

We are far away from the reality of our true nature.

What motivates us is what the world is busy doing.

We are busy wondering in the wilderness of unexpected outcomes with conviction.

How has the art of living turned into the craft of building one?

Why do we invest so much energy in shaping something formless? Abstract.

It's a mystery how we came to a point to live unnatural life. Cosmetic.

But it is not a secret that we are bestowed the ability to think about what we are thinking.

And this superpower can solve many problems for us and propel us further into the evolution.

A superpower that eventually allows us to do nothing, not even think.

and possibly counter-productive - declarations.

Once we establish affirmations that are true and aligned with our beliefs, the next step is to make those affirmations resonate deeply through our choice of language.

Using Semantically Packed Language in Affirmations

Semantically packed language carries layers of emotional, and cognitive meaning. Within personal development, this type of language is crucial because it doesn’t just communicate information: it can reframe perception, stimulate emotions, and – in turn - drive behaviour. Words have meaning, and semantically packed language amplifies that meaning into an impactful, resourceful form.

A well-crafted affirmation needs to resonate at a deep level; it needs to cut through the noise of everyday thought patterns and hit the core of our emotional experience. By using semantically packed language, we ensure that affirmations aren’t just positive words strung together, but powerful catalysts for transformation.

The significance of semantically packed language lies in its efficiency and depth. Our brains respond strongly to language that evokes sensory and emotional experiences. When affirmations are rich in meaning, they engage more areas of the brain, effectively bridging the gap between thought and feeling: allowing the affirmation to evoke not just thoughts but the very feeling of a desired state of being.

To harness semantically packed language in everyday life, it’s important to consider the emotional resonance behind your words. When setting intentions, having conversations, or even setting goals, choose words that carry weight and evoke the essence of what you want to experience. Think of the difference between telling yourself “I need to finish this project” versus ‘’when this project is finished, my world will be a better place because x,y,z.’’ The latter statement is semantically packed—it’s not just about completion; it’s about progressing from to a something better. By using more evocative language in your day-to-day interactions, you can create a deeper emotional connection with your goals, cultivate greater motivation, and bring about more meaningful change.

Step-by-Step Guide to Crafting Your Own Affirmations

So, with the above background understanding in place, it’s time to get busy. Follow these rules:

• Use language and imagery which is natural to you.

• Structure them around semantically packed language

• Make them personal to you.

• Stick to one straight forward idea.

• State them in the present tense.

• Start where you are now and move yourself forward.

• Presuppose the positive change.

• Summarise them in a few words: 10-20 is ideal.

• Make sure each affirmation is true.

Take a moment now to write down an affirmation you want to work on. Make sure it follows the guidelines above, and share it in the comments for feedback!

Observe your responses to your affirmation. From time to time, you may become aware of a little inner voice countering the affirmation. Pay careful attention when this happens. It is quite likely the affirmation is triggering a limiting belief. Use this as an indication to explore your values, beliefs and limiting beliefs to identify, explore and resolve the underlying issue, then develop the affirmation based on your new insight. Curious about tackling those limiting beliefs first? Check out my article: From Limitation to Liberation: Break Free From Your Limiting Beliefs

Below, I have listed a series of generic affirmations with the semantically packed terms in bold. Use these as a base to build your own.

• Now that I have chosen my goals, I choose to focus on my priorities.

• I can make the most of each day, because I understand what is most important.

• I enjoy living authentically, as I continue to develop my self-awareness.

• The fact that I have learned throughout my lifetime, means I have a wealth of capabilities to support me.

• I am able to draw on my experience and my creativity to find novel solutions.

• As I reflect on my life, I choose to learn and move on.

• As I really begin to

Discussion To no longer be the one looking in, and to break the habit of repetition.

I wish to begin to do what I want and have less fear of doing it. I love to watch others with the same passions in that same thread of mental masturbation, living through them. Day by day though I grow less fulfilled by it. However I can’t break the habits of not necessarily doom scrolling, but to see if those I follow have done anything new. I’ve found my niche but then obsess over it. I want to stop and become the person I desire, build my own world so to speak instead of staring at the idealized ones.
Any conversation or advice is appreciated.

Discussion How to I get motivated to lose weight/exercise?

This has probably been asked a million times before, but here we go.

Since the break started between the end of my first year of uni and the start of mg second year, I gained about 15kg of weight in 3 months. A combination of pretty bad diet and not moving around as much anymore.

Now I sit at about 92kg, and I would love to go back down to my ~75kg I sat at fairly easily before with no effort needed.

Uni started back up again start of September, and basically every week day I walk about an average of 8-10k steps daily per week (according to the health app at least). Despite going from 0-100 in that regard, I think I’m still slowly gaining. I try to eat at least a little healthier/be more mindful, but I just can’t control myself and not have that little donut here or tray of sushi there.

So of course I know diet is an issue, but I’d want to exercise some more. I’ve wanted to for a long while now, to be honest, and tried once. I did one workout session, said I’d do it once a week, and never did it again.

In the attic I know we have an exercise bike (nothing fancy, just basically a metal frame with pedals) and I know my sister just got a pair of weights (5kg each), so I definitely have some stuff to work with, but the idea of actually starting is horrifying. I know I’m terrible at motivation and discipline in regards to everything, so I don’t wanna go through the effort of getting the bike down or making some exercise plan (which is it’s own can of worms that I don’t understand) just to do it once and never try again out of sheer laziness.

WHAT DO I DO? How do gym rats stay so motivated that they can live in the gym basically? (And no, I’m never going in an actual gym those are terrifying and so expensive). I want to be more motivated with life in general, but can’t even motivate myself to do this…

Advice on where to start? discussion

Sometimes everything just feels so overwhelming and I have no motivation to start. I've been playing my bass for 2 years and still play like a beginner. I tell myself I'l read my bible more every day but still I read a page or two. I want to read for 30 mins daily like I used to but just don't. I'm addicted to my phone and YouTube even though I don't even enjoy being on them. And I want it to stop. Can someone give me some advice on where to begin, or how to find the motivation? It all feels like too much to do on my own and I have no one to talk to.

live authentically, I enjoy developing my true self.

• Because I understand my core values, I choose to live authentically.

• As I become more creative, I recognise opportunities all around me.

• I choose to celebrate my victories, understanding they are stepping stones to my vision.

• As challenges arrive, I manage them authentically.

• Now that I have taken responsibility for my life, I make choices based on my own values.

• Because I understand my strengths, I am able to match these to my goals
.
• The fact that I am good enough means that I live my own life on my own terms.

• I choose to make time for my personal development.

• Because my goals are aligned with my values, I enjoy working towards them.

• Rather than focussing on perfection, I choose to focus on steady progress.

• I choose to try new experiences.

• As I learn more about myself, I explore new options.

• Because I am good enough, I am content.

• Now that I have a clear vision, I enjoy feeling optimistic.

• As I live authentically, I choose to let go of unresourceful activities.

• As I develop new capabilities, So I raise my ambitions.

• As circumstances change, I consider my options based on my values.

• Because I understand my goals and values, I am able to make clear choices.

• I can, I will, I am.

I encourage almost all of my clients to craft their own affirmations and use them regularly. As with anything new, there will be a learning process as you find your own way to get the most effective results for you. The good news is that affirmations can be used anytime, anywhere – in or out of trance. A strategy of ‘a little and often’ will serve you best. They can be highly effective as you drift off to sleep.

Ready to transform your thoughts into powerful tools for change? Start by choosing just one affirmation today that resonates with you and practice it for a week. I’d love to hear what changes you notice—let's inspire each other!

Article Stop Lying to Yourself: How to Craft Affirmations That Actually work

Have you ever felt like your thoughts are shaping your life, for better or worse? Affirmations harness the power of these thoughts to help us evolve, one statement at a time.

Affirmations are positive statements that activate your mind to change your life, one thought at a time. They support you in making the improvements you have chosen to make.

Affirmations work because the words of our inner dialogue have power: the power to instruct / direct our deeper selves. Their impacts can operate over wide time-scales, from immediate behavioural changes to the strategic development of our identity.

Alas, it is very easy to get them wrong - at best these will be harmless but, in all likelihood, they will be counterproductive. But, it is also easy to get them right – you just need to know a few things: follow the guidelines below and you'll be off to a flying start.

What Is the Meta Model and Why It Matters

A critical element in crafting effective affirmations is ensuring they are true. Authenticity in affirmations is the key to their power: they need to be both true and aligned with your values & beliefs. If an affirmation feels false, it can create an inner resistance that proves counterproductive. This is where an understanding of the meta model becomes invaluable. The meta model is an innate faculty we all have. Its primary function is to filter out the vast majority of information flooding in to our brains – leaving the important stuff to come to our attention for us to deal with. One aspect of this, is to dissect and challenge the language of our thoughts, helping us evaluate whether those thoughts are true or distorted.

After the meta model has reduced the volume of data flooding in, it then asks “Is this thought true?” It’s a simple yet profound question that helps reveal the structure behind our beliefs. When applying this to affirmations, it allows us to test what we’re affirming with our actual beliefs. For instance, if someone creates the affirmation, “I am a millionaire,” but their mind immediately responds with skepticism, that affirmation loses its effectiveness. This indicates the need to revisit the affirmation: Is it actually true? What would it be true to affirm? Is there an underlying limiting belief that needs to be addressed first?

But is it authentic?

If an affirmation isn’t true, we can re-write it into something that aligns more closely with our current beliefs, while still allowing room for growth. Instead of affirming “I am a millionaire,” a more authentic statement might be, “I have chosen to learn the habits and mindset of a wealthy person.” This reframed affirmation respects the truth of where you are now, while positively moving you toward your desired state. By acknowledging the present reality without any fabrication, you bridge the gap between current status and desired outcome.

This ‘is it authentic’ check helps refine affirmations to ensure they resonate, rather than repel. If the meta model determines the affirmation isn’t currently true, there are several ways to adjust it: scaling down to something believable, focusing on the process instead of an outcome, or framing the affirmation in progressive terms (“I am learning,” “I am becoming,” etc.). For example, rather than affirming, “I am fearless,” which may feel blatantly untrue to someone who struggles with anxiety, a more suitable affirmation could be, “Now that recognise the benefits of resolving my anxiety, I have chosen to manage it by applying X,Y,Z.’’ This retains the intent with authenticity.

Ultimately, affirmations must be anchored in authenticity, even if they stretch a little beyond current circumstances. The meta model is the means to explore, refine, and evolve our language to ensure our affirmations are not just wishful thinking, but authentic to us so that we can fully commit to them. When affirmations pass the “truth test,” they move beyond the meta model to become powerful statements of personal evolution rather than empty –

How do i get to know others and connect to others? I have no idea how to make friends and it seems like having a "gf" is my main goal. Text

Its always me chasing others, always me initiating conversations otherwise no one will text me or initiate conversations with me

I feel like my effort isnt good enough when i get ignored or left on seen, i feel like im invisible

I feel like im not important to anyone, or anyone cares about me or likes me, or anyone wants to be with me, 3 years in college and not a single girl attracted to me, and if i compare myself to others i feel even more worthless and unlikeable, because those guys get attention from girls

And they have long conversations where both contribute and get to know each other and have fun

While i get one word replies or they dont even care about me or know that i exist, i dont know how to get to know others or how to let others know me

I base my entire worth and happiness on others reactions

And im overwhelmed by so many problems, idk what to focus on or what to do, i dont know what to do, i been stuck with conditioned behaviors and negative self beliefs

Beliefs like im too boring or not good enough to "have friends" or not good enough for others and i have to do the chasing and do everything so they care about me and like me and love me or see me as important which doesn't happen at all

I feel like im only interested in others to get approval or validation or attention or fill a void or use them as a vehicle for self esteem or try to use them to boost my ego, idk how to be genuinely interested without constantly chasing them

And see having a gf or friends or conversations as a "goal" and when i dont get those i feel utterly worthless or not good enough

When i get ignored or rejected i keep chasing more, "trying to prove my worth to myself and others"

Or go back to condioned behaviors or use addictions to stop being stressed or avoid pain

Discussion Early 30s struggling

I've had some opportunities in my life, but I feel like I haven't always fully utilized them . A few relationships with women, girls liked me, had some fun etc but now I haven't really gotten my stuff together and I'm stuck in a city I don't like doing a college course I'm not good at - I use a lot or chatgpt for my HR diploma and I feel lost. I went to school to produce music when i was younger, but I'm not sure that goal really suits my personality anymore either. Not to mention the fact that producing is fucking difficult.

I used to be funny growing up and still am occasionally but now all i can think about is my past and all the opportunities/people I might have lost/let down. I don't have friends really anymore, my parents are aging quickly, i don't have siblings, and I see all my old friends/acquaintances all married with kids on Facebook. What do I do now..
