Trying to build my first PC - even old parts help
Hello everyone, I’m 19 and from a small town in India.
I’m here before I give up one last time on a dream I’ve carried since I was a kid.
Since I was 9, I’ve wanted a PC — not just for gaming, but to learn coding, create, and explore.
But we’ve always struggled financially. I never asked my parents, knowing they couldn’t afford it.
So I waited, quietly telling myself:
“When I grow up and start earning, I’ll fulfill my dream.”
Now that I’m 19 paused completing studies coz of debt (i completed diploma still waiting to apply for degree)
I’ve started working — I earn ₹18,000/month as a supervisor at Thermax.
But things didn’t go the way I imagined.
We’re in deep debt, and I give my entire salary to support my family.
I asked to keep just ₹1,000/month to save for a PC over time, but even that wasn’t possible.
They told me, “Complete your dreams later.”
But will I even feel the same spark when I’m 25 or 28? Will it still feel like my dream then?
The PC I Tried to Fix:
I’ve been trying to revive our 2011 PC (Pentium G630, 2GB RAM, 500GB HDD).
After 4 days of effort, I managed to get it to boot — but it keeps crashing every 10 seconds.
I haven’t given up yet. But I know this machine’s on its last legs.
Why I’m Posting:
I know this is a bold ask.
But if you have any old, unused PC parts lying around — RAM, an old GPU, hard drive, anything
and you’re willing to donate or sell cheaply, it would mean the absolute world to me.
Even dusty parts you’re planning to throw away
I promise I’ll give them a second life.
I’ve waited 7 years. I don’t want to give up again.
