Kratom

I think my friend has mold in his kratom.

I visited my friend this weekend. I used to use kratom occasionally, so I am familiar with how it tastes and smells.

He bought kratom from a smoke shop in Florida last night and it smelled super off. He took some and said it burned his throat.

I smelled the bag, and holy crap. Just horrible chemical/almost plastic smell. I examined it further, and there are tiny white specks in the kratom. Does this sound like mold to y’all?

I am very worried and I’m contemplating whether or not I should tell him to go to the hospital. I have a picture of the white specks, but I can’t attach images here.

I'm on a lot of medications - is Kratom known to interact with any medications poorly?

I'm on a lot of medications, but I want to take Kratom 2x per week to get a break from my moderate pain caused by pelvic floor dysfunction as physical therapy is only doing so much.

Google says that mixing ANY medications with Kratom can cause liver failure and death and all of this fear-mongering nonsense. I know this can't be true as people can be on a dozen+ medications and not have issues with interactions between their drugs that cause death, so why would Kratom be THAT much different than a pharmaceutical drug?

I currently take:
Metformin, Rosuvastatin, Bupropion, Paroxetine, Risperidone, Propranolol, and Baclofen. Is taking Kratom a hopeless proposition I should just avoid with all of these meds, or is the risk of mixing Kratom with a long list of medications overblown?

Anyone else notice this: when you take kratom, it basically amplifies your current mood?

If I'm feeling good and take kratom, it makes me feel really great and blissful.
However, if I'm anxious or having an anxiety attack, kratom just makes everything worse and I feel terrible for the whole trip.
It’s the same when I'm angry — kratom just amplifies the anger.

On one hand, I can basically control what kind of feeling I'll get with kratom.
However, it also makes me way more sensitive to anger. Sometimes, after I take it, a family member will piss me off with their bullshit and just like that, my whole kratom trip gets ruined.

Kratom is under severe threat - PLEASE REACH OUT NOW! (Even if not in their district or Texas resident) UPDATED with Phone numbers and email for all Texas House Members.

This is a follow up to my post from yesterday (please see for additional info and speaking points I mentioned in a reply if you need them). The below table includes all Texas House Members' phone numbers (included emails again), in order by district number.

Please, in addition to emailing, we must be vigilant in calling too. Talk to one of their staffers if you don't get their VM. Each call should take maybe a minute, and will be received more expeditiously than an email (they get tons).

Don't everyone just start at the top and work your way down (so we aren't all calling the same top 10 or so) - each member needs to hear our voice! Just pick a spot at random, take 10-15 minutes, and call 10-15 reps; repeat as you can with a new 10-15.

This table includes their political party (because I didn't feel like going back through and editing it out). Remember, neither your political stance, nor theirs, is important in this fight. This has nothing to do with partisan politics, THIS IS ABOUT FREEDOM!

Whoever you are, wherever you live, please reach out to as many members as you can. This is bigger than just Texas! *Remember, be polite in your correspondences.

LET'S DO THIS PEOPLE!!!

Email addresses for all Texas House Members - PLEASE REACH OUT NOW! (Even if not in their district or Texas resident)

Mods, I hope this is allowed; it is all publicly available info.

To everyone in Texas, and everyone who cares about Kratom access in this country, please reach out to the Texas House Reps NOW! I have compiled a full list of all members' House email addresses, and hope this make it easier for people to reach out and urge each and every member *politely* to vote NO on SB 1868.

I am reaching out to each by sending individual emails to each. If you choose to send to all in one email, be sure to **BCC** *not* CC them. Email addresses are in order by district number. PLEASE CALL too if you can - call and email as many as possible.

Also, be sure to reach out to Senator Perry, whom we have to thank for this dumpster fire of a bill, and express your displeasure with his actions: Ph-512-463-0128, email- charles.perry@senate.texas.gov . Who knows, maybe enough of a fire will be lit under him, that he'll start begging his house mates to kill the bill and save his ass.

I hope to get a chance to do the phones numbers soon too, but for now, without further

Quantifying Alkaloids - Methodologies

There are two basic ways to measure how much alkaloid a product contains by sampling.

1. Weight over weight (Alkaloid A is X% of the total product weight).
2. Alkaloid Percentage (Alkaloid A is X% of the total alkaloid content).

Consider an example with Trail mix. How much of the mix is red M&Ms (if we pretend M&Ms are alkaloids and red M&Ms are an alkaloid we'd like to restrict)?

1. A 1000 gram bag of trail mix contains 50 grams of red M&Ms, or 5% (weight/weight).
2. A 1000 gram bag of train mix contains 250 grams of M&Ms, 50 grams red, 200 grams "other" or 25% (percentage)

In either case, there is, and only will be 50 grams of red M&Ms. However, if the law is--

1. Red M&Ms cannot exceed 10% by weight -- this sample passes.
2. Red M&Ms cannot exceed 10% of total M&Ms -- this sample fails.

The later (alkaloid percentage) is typically used because it deals with the ratio. Adding more active material will keep the ratios the same if the package doubles or even grows 10-100 fold. To game the system, they'd have to selectively extract non-regulated alkaloids and "enhance" the batch. This is hard to do with kratom because separating 7-HMG and MG is not easy. In the trail mix example, add more M&Ms in a way that doesn't add more red ones.

The weight over weight method is typically not use because it is much easier to game (and riskier to consumers) by adding inert crap to the sample (dyed flour, or absorbable non-ferric metals/some dangerous). In the trail mix example, add more pretzels, nuts, and Chex mix--just no more M&Ms, so the total M&M percentage drops.

A few have, or have proposed limits on alkaloid percentage and weight per dose (so the recommended dose doesn't exceed some limit for the regulated alkaloid) or weight per package (because some consumers will down the whole thing no matter how it is labeled).

As far as applicable law is concerned regarding limits on 7-hydroxymitragynine:

Kratom question

I am finally stopping my pharmaceutical medication of oxy 10/325 4x a day. It is no longer working and basically I’m just tired of the same cycle going on 8 years. I know from reading that less is more but what I am trying to achieve is in basically asking from anyone who has had this experience what is possibly the correct dosage for achieving the same effect as my daily dose of my current medication. I have come to the conclusion of trial and error that red strains is my best go to. Anyone’s input of helping is greatly appreciated.

Why the Texas Bill is actually an undercover ban

I know many of you are confused about what would happen if Texas SB 1868 passes. At this point, I'm convinced the writing has intentionally been made to be misleading.

Let me be clear. This bill is a full on natural kratom ban disguised as regulation. This bill specifies that it would restrict kratom products with 7OH levels exceeding 0.1% of total alkaloids. You may be thinking, "Oh, well 0.1% 7OH is a totally reasonable threshold. I've never even seen natural kratom with more than 0.1% 7OH." However, this is only true when you are looking at 7OH as a percentage of the total MASS of the kratom, not as a percentage of the total ALKALOIDS.

No natural kratom has a 7OH content of less than 0.1% of alkaloid content. By specifying the maximum 7OH level as a percentage of the alkaloid content rather than the percentage of the mass of the plant, this bill is a de facto ban on all natural kratom products.

Please write your representative a message to OPPOSE this bill. Otherwise, it's going to be criminalized. Now is our time to act! -> https://www.protectkratom.org/texas

🧑‍⚖️ **Senate Judiciary "C" Committee**

This bill would **make kratom a Schedule I substance**, criminalize possession and sale, and impose severe penalties on consumers and vendors alike.

We must make our voices heard **NOW** — whether by **showing up in person** or **contacting legislators before the hearing, or both**!

# ⚖️ What SB154 Would Do

* **Makes kratom a Schedule I controlled substance** — same category as heroin and LSD.
* **Bans possession, production, distribution of kratom or kratom products.**
* **Penalties:**
* **14 grams or less:** $500 fine. (What?? Most users have 250gm for a personal supply at least)
* **More than 14 grams, cultivation, or distribution:** Fine up to $2,000 **or** 1–5 years imprisonment **with or without hard labor**, or both.

This is an outrageous criminalization of everyday people who responsibly use kratom for wellness, pain management, and recovery support.

# 📜 Louisiana’s Ongoing Kratom Battle

Louisiana has a **seven-year history** of tug-of-war over kratom:

* 7 Years
* 16 Legislators
* 3 LDH study resolutions (only 1 completed)
* 3 KCPA bills filed
* 3 Ban bills filed
* 1 "Trigger" law passed
* **Zero clear wins for kratom consumers**

This endless cycle must stop. **Criminalizing responsible adults is NOT the solution!**

# 🌎 The Tide Is Turning — Regulation, Not Criminalization!

* **Mississippi** just passed a **Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA)** and became the 15th state to regulate kratom responsibly.
* **Texas** is now moving away from a full ban (SB1868) and considering regulatory approaches instead.

In Louisiana, **HB253**, a **KCPA regulatory bill**, has been filed in the House by Representative Boyer.

* Here is the KCPA HB253 [status page](https://www.legis.la.gov/legis/BillInfo.aspx?i=248184) and :

We **don't need a ban** — we need **sensible regulation**!

URGENT: LOUISIANA BAN HEARING TUE APR 29, 10:30AM - WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP AND TESTIFY. OUR OPPONENTS, THE "KDA" WILL BE THERE! PLEASE SHARE THIS & PLEASE UPVOTE!

# 🚨 CALL TO ACTION: Louisiana Kratom Users, Our Opponents are Mobilizing for Tuesday's Hearing — We Must Show Up!

It’s come to our attention that the primary author of SB154 (the kratom ban bill), has likely contacted an anti-kratom activist group called Kratom Danger Awareness (KDA) to attend the committee hearing this Tuesday.

The KDA group is known nationally for showing up at legislative hearings, telling emotionally charged stories about kratom "killing" their loved ones — despite offering little to no verifiable evidence.
They rely on emotional persuasion, not facts, and they have successfully influenced decisions in other states.

This is happening here now. In Louisiana. And if we don't show up to counter act it by telling our stories, legislators may only hear one side. This is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT, we need you to show up in person Tuesday, and if you can't attend, please email or call--here is their contact information.

# 🧠 Who is KDA?

KDA is a group largely made up of grieving parents — mostly mothers — who believe kratom caused their children’s deaths. We believe they have WEAPONIZED their grief by traveling nationwide to attend kratom ban hearings. We sympathize deeply with their pain. But pain alone does not equal truth.

In almost every case, the toxicology reports are either not made public or later reveal the presence of other substances — including opioids like illicit fentanyl.
Still, KDA members appear at hearing after hearing, state after state, making sweeping emotional claims about kratom. They bring large color pictures of their deceased loved ones and cry and tell their story.
And sadly, those emotions — no matter how sincere — often drown out rational debate.

# ⚖️ What's at Stake?

If SB154 passes, kratom will be classified as a Schedule I substance in Louisiana — right alongside heroin.
Possession could carry felony-level punishments.
Lives will be destroyed.
Options for people trying to avoid deadly fentanyl and opioids will vanish overnight.

Kratom is not the enemy. Illicit fentanyl is.

Without us in the room Tuesday, all the committee members will hear is KDA’s version of the story. We can't let that happen.

# 📢 We Need You There in Person — Tuesday Morning!

If you can possibly make it, please show up:

📅 Tuesday, April 29, 2025
🏛 Louisiana State Capitol, Room "F"
⏰ 10:30 AM (Please arrive early — between 9:45 and 10:00 AM if possible.)

You don’t have to speak if you don’t want to.
Simply filling out a red card opposing SB154 will make your voice heard.

But if you do wish to speak, you'll have a chance to say a few words.
A calm, respectful voice standing for truth can be incredibly powerful.

# 📜 More Information

For full details on SB154, what it would do, and why it matters, please check the **main action post here**.

# 🙏 Final Thoughts

We are not enemies with Senator Morris or anyone else.
We believe they are acting on bad information.
Our job is simply to show up, speak the truth, and protect what matters.

We know the TRUTH: Kratom saved lives — and it deserves a fair hearing based on facts, not fear.

Even a few dozen real people in that room could tip the balance.
Please, if you can, stand with us on Tuesday.

We need the same passion, the same voices as we did in 2016, standing up and saying this ban is a mistake.

So lost on what to buy

I’m almost off suboxone (.125mg) but the jump to zero has been really hard. So many shops around here carry a plethora of kratom but I have absolutely no idea what to buy. Pills? Powder? Green, red, white? I’m looking for both a relaxing strain but also an energetic one. A little euphoria wouldn’t hurt either. Where do I begin?

Dilaudid

Hi everyone, literally just joined. I’m in chronic pain and lately I’ve been taking 16 mg of hydromorphone. I know, that’s a lot. Please do not lecture me about this. I know, and the first time I took this dose it was administered by the hospital, so I blame them (and myself)

I’m looking into kratom to help me ween, bc I’m struggling to stop the dilauded but I’m genuinely in pain often. I just drank 1/2 of a little bottle (admins, first time posting, I know no brands, but is this description okay? Will change if not) about an hour ago and I feel nothing. And I’m guessing it’s because of my high dose tolerance.

Does anyone have any tips on what’s a good starting dose? Especially for someone taking what I’m already prescribed?

I’ve been taking quite a few supplements while I’ve been taking kratom , but I was curious if there’s anything I should avoid

Long Term Kratom Use for Fibromyalgia - will I have to stop?

Heya dear kratom redditors,

I am 31 years old, have been diagnosed with Fibro at 23, but been having symptoms since I was like 10 or 11. I have been self medicating with 3-4 times approximaley 3,75 g daily since 2016. I havent had to increase my dose in all of that time, however I know I am physically dependant (have experienced withdrawal after experimenting with cutting my dose in half in preparation for a vacation to a country where it isnt legal, wasnt fun). I am on other meds to manage my pain, but no opioids or out right pain meds other than Kratom. Also, opioids arent as effective with managing my pain as kratom is. I have been consistently reading up on new kratom case studies and whatever I'm able to find on the topic, as I know its not yet super well researched. And coming up on my 10 year kratoversary, reading about emerging knowledge of risks I am asking myself and now you: Will I have to stop taking Kratom eventually or can I just stay on it forever and disregard the risks? And what would the alternative to Kratom even be in Fibro-Pain managment? (Weed doesnt really work for me) Does anyone here have experience with super long term use of Kratom for Fibromyalgia? Have you stopped? Why? Do you plan on ever stopping? What are your thoughts on risks vs reward for Fibro?

Thank you so much in advance! <3

🚨LOUISIANA KRATOM BAN BILL (SB154) COMMITTEE HEARING - URGENT CALL TO ACTION: EMAIL, WRITE, CALL, AND SHOW UP THIS TUESDAY, APR 29, 2025, 10:30AM - ROOM "F" - STATE CAPITOL

# 🚨 Louisiana Kratom Ban Bill (SB154)🚨

# Committee Hearing Tuesday, April 29 — We Need You!

The Louisiana kratom community is once again under threat!
Senate Bill 154 (SB154) is moving to its first committee hearing on:

📅 Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 10:30 AM
🏛 Louisiana State Capitol, Room "F"
🧑‍⚖️ Senate Judiciary "C" Committee

This bill would make kratom a Schedule I substance, criminalize possession and sale, and impose severe penalties on consumers and vendors alike.

We must make our voices heard NOW — whether by showing up in person or contacting legislators before the hearing, or both!

# ⚖️ What SB154 Would Do

Makes kratom a Schedule I controlled substance — same category as heroin and LSD.
Bans possession, production, distribution of kratom or kratom products.
Penalties:
14 grams or less: $500 fine. (What?? Most users have 250gm for a personal supply at least)
More than 14 grams, cultivation, or distribution: Fine up to $2,000 or 1–5 years imprisonment with or without hard labor, or both.

This is an outrageous criminalization of everyday people who responsibly use kratom for wellness, pain management, and recovery support.

# 📜 Louisiana’s Ongoing Kratom Battle

Louisiana has a seven-year history of tug-of-war over kratom:

7 Years
16 Legislators
3 LDH study resolutions (only 1 completed)
3 KCPA bills filed
3 Ban bills filed
1 "Trigger" law passed
Zero clear wins for kratom consumers

CHECK THIS OUT: Full timeline and details (chart/table with clickable links: **CLICK HERE**.

This endless cycle must stop. Criminalizing responsible adults is NOT the solution!

# 🌎 The Tide Is Turning — Regulation, Not Criminalization!

Mississippi just passed a Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) and became the 15th state to regulate kratom responsibly.
Texas is now moving away from a full ban (SB1868) and considering regulatory approaches instead.

In Louisiana, HB253, a KCPA regulatory bill, has been filed in the House by Representative Boyer.

Here is the KCPA HB253 [status page](https://www.legis.la.gov/legis/BillInfo.aspx?i=248184) and :
KCPA Author: Rep Boyer's Webpage

We don't need a ban — we need sensible regulation!
