Do you tell your anaesthesiologist that you take Kratom?
I am scheduled for surgery in less than 3 months, and I'm a little worried about telling my anaesthesiologist about Kratom. It's not widely used where I'm from, so I'm not sure they know about it. I also don't know if it can impact anaesthesia so I'm not sure if I should tell them or not.

Sneaky kratom Bans on Hemp/THC bills
I’m just posting this to hopefully remind you guys that any state that hasn’t passed the kcpa act is safe, specially how things have been this year, we have seen a few states try to ban kratom by adding it into hemp/thc/marijauna regulation bills so I hope that everyone is regularly checking in and monitoring the bills in your state, I reside in massachussets and so far everything is okay on this side of the world but make sure you guys are checking up on your state; they could add kratom to their list of bans at any time-any day so please be aware and don’t just search up the hemp bills; checkup on any other legal drug that has a regulation bill pending like Kava for example, they might try to attack it that way.

Managing tolerance
Hey gang. I started using kratom about a year ago and it’s been a real game changer for me. Mostly regarding my relationship with alcohol. However I want to manage this effectively and not trade one bad relationship for another.
I started on about 3 grams a day. A year later I’m on probably 6-7. So nothing crazy. But these slopes can be slippery.
Understanding that metabolism is unique to everyone, are there any generally accepted methods for maintaining if not reducing tolerance? As in skipping every other day or one week on/one week off, etc? Or to reduce tolerance do most people need to stop using completely for x number of days?
Yes everyone is different, but I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who successfully maintained tolerance for a long period of time, or even reduced their tolerance, and what method they used. Cheers.

Hello again fellow Kratomites!
I just wanted to update you all on my foot surgery journey during which I have been in the hospital for 4 days since major reconstructive work was done. I have to take care of myself regarding my pain. All my doc prescribed for pain was five milligrams of oxycodone which has no effect on me. Somehow I have (so far) managed to sneak regular doses of leaf in without getting busted. I choose to keep my use private lest I get flagged as an addict.
To be completely honest, the neuropathy that caused my foot condition has so far caused my post-operative pain to be minimal and well-controlled with leaf. I am typing this with voice- to- text and need to be prudent about my voice level lest a staff person learn my situation and narc me out
Since I am a Toss and Wash enthusiast this is quite the tightrope walk because gravity, being what it is, could cause me to have an unfortunate accident all over my clean white hospital bedclothes, which would be very difficult to to explain to put it mildly.
Since I have exclusively tossed and washed plain leaf for 8 years, I consider myself a T & W expert but I am not out of the woods yet. I transition to a more "permissive" form of care tomorrow where I won't be under a microscope as I am in this acute care hospital.
I go to a skilled nursing facility for rehab tomorrow and hope to be under less constant scrutiny. I am determined to take care of myself as best I can despite the screwed up for profit medical system that I am caught up in.
Wish me luck in my recovery that I have to take into my own hands.

6 year kratom user, distal femur fracture
Hello folks, so in December 7th recently had a surgery due to assault and it shattered my right distal femur. Had to have a surgery, and couldn't walk for 3 months. Just started walking again in march
Was unemployed for a while until a few days ago, my job requires me to be on my feet and heavy lifting. Woke up this morning limping bad, and it slows me down very bad. Screws and such in the worst part possible for a leg literally in knee cap where all weight distributed.
Got some oxycodone HCL 10MG ( prescription after discharge from hospital only 6 ) and is it safe for me to take it 18-24 hours after my last kratom dose? My pain is pretty bad, and i don't want to dose kratom multiple times a day cause that causes issues. I have the bottle since i took kratom instead of it.
My daily kratom schedule: have coffee, 6 am and dose kratom 7 am ( 5/6 grams ) and then eat, drink water and take my final dose of kratom ( 5/6 grams ) at 1 pm
Would you recommend me just waiting 18-24 hours after last kratom dose and then taking oxycodone or maybe switch up to smaller doses of kratom, ( it doesn't work for pain at a certain gram level )

Kratom in carry on luggage on domestic flight and kratom capsules in pocket entering Disney world.
September I have a flight from St. Louis to Orlando to go to Disney with my mother. I’m very much so physically dependent on kratom so if I don’t have it it’s gonna suck. If I make my own kratom extract and put it in capsules would those capsules cause any issues being in carry on bag? And if I had say 4 or 5 of said capsules in my pocket upon entering Disney parks would that be an issue? I haven’t flown or been to Disney in more than 15 years so anybody with recent experience I would really appreciate any input.

Short fuse
Does anyone else find they have shorter fuse when on kratom? I don’t las out or anything. I just find myself getting frustrated much easier on kratom. I recognize it happening and take a step back so as to take it out on anyone.

Tapering down through lowering your GPD is one way to have healthier usage but another way is gradually increasing your time between dose
This helps out more than GPD if you are trying to reduce usage or get off of it more than tapering IMO if you are under 10GPD. You're probably only doing two to three doses max. I would add two hours every week. Once you start skipping a whole twenty four hours it becomes way easier to skip entire days. You will use far less and if you can only do it every other day there will be no dependency and it'll hit very nice every time and last much longer.
I've been using it for 11 years and find I don't need it daily anymore. It's not 2020 before 2020-2021 I was doing it every other day or even every 72 hours and it's possible to go back and you won't feel an urge to go back to daily.

Took too much the past few days to the point of not feeling anything. How long of a break should I take?
I hear less is more when it comes to kratom and in order to try it again, I should take a break now after doing so much and with no effects felt. About how many days or so should I go without taking any kratom before I could try again? Thank you in advance.

Where is the AKA On Connecticut? We Really Need Your Help Here
Please AKA if you’re seeing this, could you make a dedicated video or a least do something to update us on how this will work and how long the process to schedule it will take? Many of us are devastated here and it feels like the AKA just put us on the back burner.
I love the AKA, I donate to you, and I still will.
The AKA is our best group we have for us so I’m not attacking them, it’s just a little disappointing that CT just banned kratom and we’re getting no special updates, no guidance on how the law will play out like this DCP process, etc.
I’m a CT kratom user for years and please if you’re with the AKA reading this, please give us an update like I said. I say this on behalf of many on this sub, and the 100,000 kratom users in Connecticut.

Will they UA for kratom?
Currently working at an addiction treatment center, I don't use anything besides kratom once in the evenings. I was not tested for it at this current place but I am applying somewhere else (another treatment center) and i'm wondering if they would test it or not. Kratom is regulated only by age restriction in the state I live in. Thanks for your input.

Connecticut…KEEP CALLING THE GOVERNOR AND REPS/SENATORS.
There will be a public hearing about kratom at some point per the Department of Consumer Protection. We have to keep the pressure on. They didn’t let us give public comment before the bill was passed and signed, but this will be our moment. In the meantime, keep reaching out, tell them how absurd this impending ban is and absolutely tell them how unfair and UNDEMOCRATIC THIS IS.

Also, unclear about what effective immediately means - like the process to start is effective immediately or its scheduled immediately?

Nooby Question I need a pain suppressant, let me explain.
I just got out of the hospital out of a week long stint, the original hospital sent me to a second, and the second to a third because they found out my pancreas is and still is failing. I am and was a drinker, I am not looking for anything, I just need advice. I am looking for two things with kratom and I feel directly posting here will give me the best answers.
First; body, internal body pain. It hurts when I wake up and when I sleep, I refuse to use narcotics and I'd rather gamble with kratom. Is this a safer option, I do not have any abuse problems, my body has just, a lot of wear and tear for my age (32) and I would like to try to be a functioning human being. This being working a full time job even with this pain.
Second, mentally, my mind races and scrambles when I sleep, I am properly medicated but uninsured at this time. I will gladly go into more details if asked, I just, I need to prolong myself and I've heard decent things about kratom before.

AKA Email Statement on Connecticut
“Unfortunately — but not unexpectedly — Connecticut Governor Lamont has signed the bill that allows the Commissioner of Consumer Protection to schedule kratom as a controlled substance. This legislation was rushed through in a deeply undemocratic fashion, buried in a cannabis bill to avoid public scrutiny.
The AKA is actively working to educate the Commissioner’s office and explore ways to reverse or replace this harmful policy. We will keep you updated on all developments and opportunities for further advocacy.”
So, we have to wait and see I suppose. I trust the AKA is working behind the scenes. I would imagine there will be a public comment period. For anyone interested in what the scheduling process might look like in CT I urge you to research chapter 54.

Been off for a month
I've been off for a month and I've been taking an amount of powder for the last 6 years that I don't even want to disclose but it's about two to three times anything I've seen in here. Weirdly enough I don't get withdrawals other than not sleeping for about 10 days. I'm considering going back at half and tapering it over a year, because the lack of my brain chemistry coming back to homeostasis is making it somewhat hard to function. I know I can taper down (done it before) but I'm wondering if I'm down to say 5gpd 3xday or less, if my brain will start making its own dopamine again, or if I have to be lower, I'm just wondering where the threshold is and I'm always thinking it's going to get banned so I really intend on stopping, I just know going cold it's going to be about a year to 18 months before I get back to homeostasis so I'm wondering if I should mitigate it by tapering over a really long period. Anyone ever done this?

i just discovered kratom and it’s literally a lifesaver.
i’ve struggled with chronic pain for a few years, but in january i was in a pretty bad motorcycle wreck and tore my meniscus right around the time my insurance switched to a really awful plan. (thankfully i’m working on getting it fixed now and taking the appropriate steps)
i was always afraid to take kratom since i heard so many horror stories and whatnot.
for some reason last night, my knee was in EXCRUCIATING pain, i’m talking like it felt as if someone were hitting it with a sledgehammer from my hip, to my knee to my ankle. i could barely walk.
my plan was to just find CBD at a local gas station and pray it worked, but none had any so i found a smoke shop open who supposedly sold CBD. lo and behold, they didn’t, but the worker told me to try kratom.
so i did, and when i say my knee felt better within an hour, i’m not exaggerating that it felt SO much better. i can’t believe i hadn’t tried it until now. i am so insanely thankful i took the chance on it and just tried it. especially living in a state where a doctor won’t prescribe painkillers unless you’re half dying.

Please Help !!
So I was in a rush and I just grabbed the first Red Kratom I saw on the shelf. When I got home, I realized it said “Red Vein Kratom Extract for Pain”. I’ve heard some horror stories about extracts. There is no indication of the strength of each capsule or anything. The strange thing however, is that it just looks like normal red kratom powder in the capsules. Everything i’ve read about extracts has been in the liquid shot form. Is it possible they just called it “extract” but it’s simply red kratom powder? I’m really worried because I don’t want to mess with dependency and tolerance. Could anyone offer some guidance? it would be very much appreciated.

Getting good answers/comments to your posts in this sub
I find that too often people are asking questions here but provide the minimum amount of information. Then people comment, trying to help often by substituting the missing information with their own information.
Example: “How much kratom should I take? I want to try kratom and I want to know which strain I should take and how much of it.” Obviously both questions depend on why you want to use kratom.
I understand when newbies start asking around, they might not include the required information but I also see people who say they have been taking kratom for years and still put the minimal amount of information and everyone goes in with their opinion without all the facts.
So, just as a suggestion, try to include as much relevant information as you can so you will get the most useful answers people can provide. For example, if you want advice on dosage, specify the effect you’re seeking, are you taking it recreationally once or twice a week or are you looking for help with pain or anxiety or another condition. State the experiences you have done so far and what were the results.
There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this sub who have experience with different aspects of consuming kratom. The more they know, the better they can help.

My friend tried kratom a few days ago, and he was seriously disappointed he didn't get to exhale a green cloud like a dragon
First the plan was tea, but once I said that one time tossing and washing caused me to exhale a cloud of dust they immediately decided to go that route. He tossed twice, and I swear the second after swallowing he burped intentionally.

Kratom for dogs?
Listen listen, before anyone jumps down my throat with any accusations about animal abuse or mistreating dogs I wouldn’t be entertaining this if there were any other options. I have a senior dog with a very large, possibly very painful cancerous lump on her leg in the twilight of her life.
She currently takes Galiprant and Tramadol for her arthritis but her lump has gotten so big that the surface has abraded away and it is basically an open wound at this point. The vets told me there really isn’t anything stronger to give other than codiene, which is poorly absorbed by dogs and is incredibly expensive. Although her wound looks bad it doesn’t seem to bother her too much, but dogs tend to hide their pain so it’s impossible to know. I guess I just feel like it can’t hurt less now that it’s an open wound, I just don’t want my baby to be in pain in the end of her life.
The main thing I’m worried about is possible nausea more than anything else. She is a large mutt (~85lbs) and I have read enough to figure that kratom is well tolerated enough that it won’t kill her or anything, I’m just worried about side effects. If anyone has any experience I would really appreciate any input, thanks.

In Connecticut, controlled substances are classified as Schedule I – V.
Schedule I: Completely prohibited for medical use. These drugs (e.g., heroin, LSD) are illegal to possess or distribute.
Schedule II: Available only by prescription, but with strict regulations. Prescriptions cannot be refilled and require a new authorization each time.
Schedule III & IV: Prescription required, but with fewer restrictions than Schedule II. Some refills are allowed within a limited timeframe.
Schedule V: Some drugs (e.g., certain cough syrups) may be available over the counter, but others still require a prescription.

I feel like my reaction is a bit different than others
I’ve been doing about 2-3gms of green and I’ve heard that amount is supposed to be more energizing. However I feel more relaxed and euphoric, which is fine by me, but not what others seem to experience. Then around 4 hours later I feel a little bit off and shaky. I had a bowl of cereal about an hour before, but it suppresses my appetite so I didn’t eat afterwards. Maybe it’s just low blood sugar from not eating much, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem when not doing kratom. So just wondering if anyone else is like this and how to prevent the crash.

Kratom delayed effects?
Anyone experience delayed effects from kratom sometimes? Most times I take 2 grams of kratom and I’ll feel it within a 10 minutes most of the time but today I took around 2gs and didnt feel anything until about 4 hours later it completely hit me: I’m just curious as to what could cause the delayed reaction
