Is Kratom Banned In Connecticut?
American Kratom Association's website, says it's in the purple which means "proposed bans" but I'm hearing from everyone that it's a full blown schedule 1, starting on march 25th.
If so, that is really disappointing.

@r_kratom
tips for strong kratom tea?
i've been a kratom user for about 3 1/2 years now and I've started buying crush leaf to make at home. i've doing it in a French press: about a tablespoon per serving, a little squeeze of lemon juice or lime juice, and then letting that sit for about 15 minutes.
I haven't been very impressed with the end result, and I know that I'm buying really high-quality kratom (my friend is one of the largest kratom importers to the US) but I don't know where I'm going wrong.
I've seen some ideas floating around on Reddit to brew it with an instant pot, just wondering if anybody has any tips for increasing the potency and overall effect.
thanks!

📢 VERY GOOD NEWS FOR OHIO: SB 299 (An additional KCPA bill to HB 587) HAS ITS 2ND HEARING ON TUESDAY, MARCH 24 — Let's Keep The Momentum Going
Ohio’s kratom consumer protection bill, SB 299, is moving forward. It is scheduled for its 2nd hearing on March 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Senate General Government Committee. The Ohio Senate’s upload page for that meeting lists S.B. 299 as an agenda item, and the Ohio Legislature bill page describes SB 299 as legislation regarding the sales of kratom products.
SB 299 represents a regulatory path forward. This bill advances a KCPA-style approach focused on consumer protections, product standards, and lawful adult access to natural kratom. Ohio supporters still have an important opportunity to help build the record in favor of regulation, consumer safety, and continued access.
# WHAT SUPPORTERS SHOULD DO NOW
1. Submit written testimony through the official Senate upload page.
Use the official testimony portal for the March 24, 2026 Senate General Government Committee meeting and select S.B. 299. The page requires your name, email, testimony PDF, whether you are a Proponent/Opponent/Interested Party, and your testimony type.
2. Also complete the Witness Information Form.
The form asks for your name, whether you are representing yourself or an organization, your contact information, the bill number, your position (Proponent / Opponent / Interested Party), and a brief statement on your position.
3. Email your materials separately as PDFs.
After completing both documents, send:
* your written testimony PDF
* your completed witness form PDF
by email to the committee members as an added step to make sure your support is seen.
# TESTIMONY INSTRUCTIONS
* Write your testimony in support of SB 299
* Save it as a PDF
* Complete the Witness Information Form
* Mark yourself as Proponent
* Save that form as a PDF
* Submit your testimony through the official Senate upload page
* Then email both PDFs separately to the committee members by email ***Instructions & Links In Comments!***
# TESTIMONY TEMPLATE
Subject: Proponent Testimony – SB 299
Dear Chair Roegner and Members of the Senate General Government Committee,
My name is \[Your Name\], and I am writing in support of SB 299. I respectfully urge you to support this bill because responsible regulation of natural kratom is a better approach than prohibition.
\[Briefly share your experience and why this bill matters to you. You may wish to include:\]
* How natural kratom has helped you
* Why consumer protections and product standards are important
* Why adults should retain access to plain leaf kratom
* Why regulation is safer and more effective than a ban
SB 299 offers a practical and responsible framework to protect consumers while preserving access to natural kratom. I respectfully ask for your support.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
\[Your Name\]
\[City, State\]
\[Email\]
# FINAL MESSAGE
Ohio still has a real opportunity to advance kratom regulation the right way & lead the way for other states to follow an equitable path for U.S. citizens.
Stand up for regulation. Stand up for access. Stand up for consumer protection.

URGENT - Idaho Kratom Ban (HB864) vs. Consumer Protection (KCPA) - We need YOU at the Statehouse this coming Tuesday!
Hey Idaho Kratom community,
We are at a massive crossroads. Right now, there are two paths for kratom in Idaho: a total ban that makes possession a crime, or a common-sense regulation that keeps us safe.
**The Situation:**
*HB864 (The Ban Bill):* This bill would classify kratom as a Schedule I substance. It is currently DELAYED until next week. Why? Because legislators want to see if the KCPA (Kratom Consumer Protection Act) can pass first.
*The KCPA (The Protection Bill):* A new version of the KCPA is being introduced in the Senate Health & Welfare Committee. This bill ensures kratom stays legal for adults and creates proper safety standards.
**Why this coming Tuesday is so important:**
If the KCPA doesn't get momentum this Tuesday, the House will likely move forward with the total ban (HB864). We MUST get the KCPA out of committee.
**HOW TO HELP:**
Testify in Person (The most impactful thing you can do!)
* WHEN: Tuesday, March 24th @ 3:00 PM
* WHERE: Idaho State Capitol, Room WW54
* GOAL: Tell your story. Explain how kratom helps your life and why you support regulation (KCPA).
Email the Committee Members
* If you can’t make it to Boise, you need to flood their inboxes. Respectfully tell them: "Please support the KCPA and protect the rights of Idahoans to access safe, regulated kratom."
Here is a list of Senators on the committee:
* JVanOrden@senate.idaho.gov
* CBjerke@senate.idaho.gov
* MHarris@senate.idaho.gov
* GZuiderveld@senate.idaho.gov
* BLenney@senate.idaho.gov
* BShippy@senate.idaho.gov
* CBlaylock@senate.idaho.gov
* JKeyser@senate.idaho.gov
* MWintrow@senate.idaho.gov
**The Bottom Line:**
The opposition is loud, but our stories are more powerful. If we don't show up on Tuesday, we risk losing access to this plant entirely.
Let’s save kratom in Idaho. Who’s going to be there?

Resources for Michigan Senate Outreach / Oppose HB 5537
House Bill 5537 has passed the Michigan House. It needs to be stopped in the Senate. So far it has not been assigned a committee.
I think coming in fast and hard is beneficial before supporters get their nonsense before the senators. I'm planning on outreach later today.
For now, reaching [your senator](https://senate.michigan.gov/senators/all-senators/), and the Senate Majority Leader (Sen. Winnie Brinks 29th (D)) might be the most useful, beyond touching base with all of them. I can't say what committee might get it.
If phone staff say it is premature because it is not in committee, be polite and understanding, but I suggest expressing that you are concerned given that the House pulled it from committee for an immediate floor vote you want to make sure you get the opportunity to testify.
Bills in Michigan run until end of term (Adjournment Q4 2026), so running out the clock is not an immediate option.

Michigan Update: Fight pushes to Senate; House passes Ban
Michigan - House Speaker pressured a voice vote and passed 56 to 48 with 8 abstentions -Very unfortunate and anti democratic but the Speaker is very anti-kratom. 🚨 IOWA KRATOM BAN ALERT – HF2133 / SF2192 (URGENT ACTION NEEDED) 🚨
Iowa just passed a bill in the House that would make kratom and its alkaloids a Schedule I substance (FULL BAN). The bill is now in the Senate and could move quickly.
👉 Bills to know:
HF2133 (House-passed ban bill)
SF2192 (Senate version, now attached to HF2133)
⚠️ CURRENT STATUS (IMPORTANT):
The bill has been received by the Senate.
It is NOT yet scheduled for the committee.
This means we are in the MOST IMPORTANT WINDOW TO ACT.

🗣️ WHAT TO SAY (KEEP IT SIMPLE)
Oppose HF2133 / SF2192
Do NOT make kratom Schedule I
Support regulation instead of a ban
Age restrictions
Lab testing
Labeling
👉 Mention:
How kratom helps you (pain, GI disorders, harm reduction)
That a ban will hurt real people
⏰ WHY THIS IS URGENT
The bill is NOT in committee yet
That means pressure RIGHT NOW can:
Slow it down
Force amendments
Possibly stop it
👉 Once it hits the subcommittee, the window shrinks FAST
🔥 REALITY CHECK
Yes — the House passed this by a large margin.
Yes — the Senate could move quickly.
BUT: 👉 Bills die in the Senate ALL THE TIME if there’s enough pressure
💥 ACTION PLAN
Call the switchboard.
Email Judiciary Committee members.
Email Senate leadership.
❤️ FINAL NOTE
This is the moment where action actually matters.
If you care about kratom, do not wait.
Even a few calls/emails can make a difference in committee decisions.
If anyone has updates on scheduling or subcommittee assignment, PLEASE COMMENT.
We need eyes on this 24/7.

IOWA- It is Not too late; now it the time to act.
🚨 IOWA KRATOM UPDATE — THIS IS THE WINDOW WHERE IT CAN STILL BE STOPPED
The kratom ban bill SF2192 /HF 2133 has passed the Iowa House, but it is now in the Senate and it is NOT a done deal yet.
This is the stage where bills often either move forward or quietly stall — and public pressure right now can genuinely make a difference.
\---
📞 Who to Contact (Iowa Senate — MOST IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW)
These are key people involved in whether this moves forward:
\- Senator Jeff Reichman
\- Senator Dan Dawson
\- Senate Majority Leader Jack Whitver
\- Senator Brad Zaun
\- Senator Mike Bousselot
☎ Iowa Senate switchboard: 515-281-3371
(They’ll connect you or take a message)
🗣 What to Say (keep it simple)
“Hello, I’m calling about SF2192. I respectfully ask the Senator to oppose scheduling kratom as a Schedule I substance and instead consider regulation and consumer protections rather than a ban. Thank you.”
That’s it. No speech needed.
\---
⚠️ Why This Matters Right Now
\- The bill is not law yet
\- The Senate can still delay, amend, or stop it
\- Some legislators are more persuadable than others — especially with enough calls
\---
👍 Quick Reassurance
If you’ve never called before — it’s easy.
When you call, they’ll usually just take a short message right there and pass it along to the senator’s office. They’re polite, quick, and you’ll be done in about a minute.
📧 It is also a good idea to email the Iowa senators as well.

UPDATE KANSAS KRATOM BAN DELAYED: The House Hearing was CANCELED! (Pressure is Working!) But we can't stop now!
Attention Kansas Advocates:
The House Health and Human Services Committee CANCELED the scheduled hearing for SB 497 that was originally set for this week.
This is a major win, but the "March 20th" deadline is still looming. The bill is currently in limbo. We have exactly 8 days to make sure it stays that way or is replaced by the HB 2230 (KCPA) regulation model.
🚨 THE "KEEP THE PRESSURE" ACTION PLAN
1. CALL THE COMMITTEE LEADERSHIP
The hearing was canceled because of the massive influx of calls. We need to keep that momentum going so they don't "stealth" reschedule it for next week.
Committee Hotline: (785) 296-7683
Message: "I saw the hearing for SB 497 was canceled. I hope the committee is now moving toward the common-sense regulations in HB 2230 instead of a total ban. Please protect law-abiding Kansans and our small businesses."
2. SUBMIT YOUR TESTIMONY (IF YOU HAVEN'T YET)
Even without a new date, getting your official "Opponent" testimony into the legislative system now is critical.
Email: [Health.Human.Services@house.ks.gov](mailto:Health.Human.Services@house.ks.gov)
Requirement: Attach a PDF explaining why you support regulation (testing/age limits) over criminalization.
3. ALERT LOCAL SHOPS
Visit your local kratom and specialty wellness shops today. Tell the owners the hearing was canceled but the bill is still alive. Encourage them to have every customer send an email to the committee before the end of the week.
Why we can't stop now:
In the Kansas House, a bill can be added back to the schedule with very little notice. If we stop calling, they may try to push it through next week before the session ends.
Keep an eye on this thread—I will post the second a new hearing date is announced!
Go here and fill out the form: **https://www.protectkratom.org/kansas**
Email To: **Health.Human.Services@house.ks.gov** (Attn: Committee Assistant David
Long)
Instructions: In the body of the email, state your name, address, and that you are an
"Opponent" to SB 497 submitting written testimony. Attach your PDF.
2. Sign up for testimony
● Email To: Health.Human.Services@house.ks.gov (Attn: Committee Assistant DavidLong)
Instructions: In the body of the email, state your name, address, and that you are an
"Opponent" to SB 497 asking to testify. Attach your PDF.
3. Call the Committee Leadership Phone calls are highly effective for stopping momentum.
Call the Chair and Vice Chair (listed below) immediately. Keep it polite, factual, and brief.
4. Email the Committee Members Send direct, personalized emails to the representatives on
the committee. Send individual emails to ensure they pass through spam filters and are read by staff.
I really feel phone calls make a difference. So please call when you have time. It's a pretty laid back phone call if you are nervous.
Official Testimony Submission:
Committee Email: Health.Human.Services@house.ks.gov

PSA for newbies: Those kratom shots at your gas station are NOT the same as actual kratom from real vendors. Please read this before you judge the plant.
I keep seeing posts from people saying “I tried kratom and it was terrible” or “kratom made me feel awful” and 9 times out of 10, when you dig deeper, they grabbed a shot or capsule from a gas station.
Here’s why that’s a problem:
Those gas station products are often extract-based, meaning they’re concentrated in ways that can hit you way harder than plain leaf. They also frequently have inconsistent dosing, questionable lab testing (if any), and sometimes contain additives that have nothing to do with kratom.
It’s like comparing gas station sushi to an actual Japanese restaurant. Same word, completely different experience.
If you’re new and want to actually understand what kratom does, please:
1. Start with plain leaf powder from a vendor that shows third-party lab results (COAs)
2. Begin with 1-2 grams, not whatever the gas station label says
3. Try it on a light stomach
4. Wait at least 45 minutes before deciding it “doesn’t work”
5. Keep a simple journal of strain, dose, and effects
The difference between good kratom from a legit vendor and random gas station stuff is genuinely night and day. I wasted months thinking kratom “wasn’t for me” until someone pointed this out.
Don’t let a $7 impulse buy at a Shell station be the reason you write off something that might actually help you.

Forced to quit kratom and I hate it
I’m pregnant. I tapered and quit kratom because I don’t want to deal with the risk of my baby having withdrawal after birth, even if the risk is low. It’s really hard honestly. I’m not going to resume taking it until after birth, but omg I’m looking so forward to resuming it. I take it mostly because it got me off all pharma meds, and got me off subs. It’s just difficult and right now I’m sick with some kind of virus and all I want to do is be able to take my normal kratom dose. Anyways idk why I’m posting this but maybe someone can relate. My mental health is really poor right now and I have no one to talk to about this.

Anyone know what's going on with the Kansas sb497 kratom ban?
There was a hearing cancelled way back on March 11th but no movement since. AI tells me yesterday the 20th was the last day they had to do something with it so it is effectively dead. I don't have a whole lot of faith on the accuracy of AI.
Is this true? Is the Kansas ban dead? The AKA hasn't mentioned anything else on Kansas since so I was wondering if anyone had anymore info?

Save K.I.M=Save Kratom In Michigan! STOP HB 5537!
Hey Michigan, please help STOP HB 5537 also known as Save K.I.M.=Save Kratom in Michigan
Ask your lawmakers to vote for regulation and NOT a ban. There is power in numbers. We can stop this bill from progressing any further the way it's passed the House by taking action together. YOUR voice counts and can make a major difference! We need YOU to fight along with the rest of us!
We need action now from Michigan citizens to stop this bill from becoming a law. Ask your lawmakers to amend the bill by following the Kratom Consumer Protection Act:
Age Restrictions: Limits the sale of kratom to individuals over 18 or 21 years old.
Adulteration Prohibitions: Bans the sale of kratom adulterated with dangerous substances or contaminated with heavy metals.
Synthetic Regulation: Restricts or prohibits the sale of synthetic kratom alkaloids, particularly high-concentration 7-hydroxymitragynine.
Labeling Standards: Requires accurate labeling of product ingredients, serving sizes, and manufacturer information.
Lab Testing: Mandates testing to ensure safety and purity.
Please Use the Link Below and Reach Out to Senators: Every Call/E-mail Counts!
🚨 MICHIGAN: CONTACT YOUR STATE SENATORS – HB 5537 (KRATOM BAN) 🚨
The kratom ban bill (HB 5537) has passed the House and is now heading to the Michigan Senate.
👉 THIS is where we can still stop it.
📞 FIND YOUR SENATOR (takes 10 seconds):
📢 WHAT TO DO:
Call or email your State Senator and say you OPPOSE HB 5537.
🗣️ SIMPLE CALL SCRIPT (20 seconds):
“Hi, I’m a Michigan resident calling about HB 5537. I oppose a full kratom ban and urge the Senator to vote NO and support regulation instead. Please pass this along.”
🎯 PRIORITY CONTACTS:
• Senate Majority Leader – Winnie Brinks
• Your local State Senator (most important)
⚠️ IMPORTANT:
Be polite and short
Staffers log your position (you don’t need to debate)
Calls and E-mails Matter.
⏳ TIMING:
Once this is assigned to a Senate committee, that group becomes the main target. Acting early = higher chance to stop it.
💡 WHY THIS MATTERS:
Bans don’t eliminate use—they push things underground. Regulation is the safer, more effective approach.
If you’re in Michigan, take 2 minutes and make the call. It genuinely makes a difference.
Banning kratom will cause serious problems in Michigan such as an illegal substance market boom, more violence involving hardcore drugs because people don't have access to kratom, overflow of jails of people seeking relief from addiction and chronic pain along with more people addicted to harder drugs. Emergency rooms are going to overflow with people who accidentally took an illicit, dangerous drug instead of safely taking kratom. The problems that MI is facing in the future with this ban will be devastating and destroy MI from within. For those who want kratom banned, do those issues sound better to you than having a plant that is a GODSEND to thousands of people? Stop and Think about it!!
We MUST keep fighting on behalf of Veterans, Cancer patients, Terminal Patients who can't get pain relief which is vile that they are left to suffer even on their death beds, patients who fight addiction and use kratom to control hardcore addictions and many others! Do Not be discouraged-You are not alone in this fight!

Are we bound to lose??
In the last few years ban attempts are constant. Even if they don't pass they just keep trying again.

Emailing each member individually, and addressing it to their name (Introduction) can be helpful and may avoid rules that de-prioritize "everyone" emails, but emailing all is better than doing nothing.
Calls can be highly effective. It gets easier the more it is done.
Voicemails are also useful. Be sure to include that you are a constituent if calling your Senator, and include your city if in Michigan. I write my phone number down so I don't have to think about it mid-call since I never call myself.
====
My personal opinion is that it is more effective to offer a solution than to simply oppose something.
For me, that means advocacy for HB 4969. HB 4969 is **SUPPORTED** by the Michigan Health and Hospital Association.
This is a KCPA bill in the normal sense. If this is a problem for you, it is up to you to balance the risk/reward for total prohibition knocking down both and not having a fallback. I think HB 4969 has a shot in the House *if* 5377 is voted down in committee as a "second option" given some of the sponsor overlap.
You can also call them back if 5377 is knocked off and voice opposition to HB 4969 and just continued unregulate (but then expect the same battle next year). This is not what I would personally do, but it bears consideration.

For now, reaching your senator, and the Senate Majority Leader (Sen.

Is there an organization behind all the kratom bans?
Just curious. Seems like it's being coordinated by some kind of special interest group. It takes a fair bit of resources to introduce bills and push policy through to the end. Or maybe it's more of a "vote for me, I did this thing" kind of situation?

TN KRATOM UPDATE: Key Hearings Week of 3-23-26
Upcoming hearings:
SB1656 (“Matthew Davenport’s Law”)
Senate Judiciary meeting on March 23 @ 12 PM — Bill is #113 on calendar
HB1649 – Finance, Ways & Means Subcommittee meeting on March 25 @ 10:30 AM — Bill is #10 on calendar
Why the Finance Subcommittee matters:
This is a major checkpoint. If HB1649 fails here, it likely stops. If it passes, it moves to the full Finance Committee. These members focus heavily on economic and fiscal impact, which is one of the strongest arguments against the bill.
What the bill’s own fiscal note shows:
• \~38,385 adult Tennesseans used kratom last year
• \~384 possession convictions per year
• +$385,900/year in local expenditures
• +$34,300/year in state incarceration costs
• \~$18.2 million TN kratom market
• \~$1.23 million lost state revenue annually
• \~$501k lost local revenue annually
This bill increases costs, removes a legal market, and expands criminal penalties.
Fiscal note: https://capitol.tn.gov/Bills/114/Fiscal/SB1656.pdf
Finance Subcommittee contacts:
rep.ryan.williams@capitol.tn.gov, rep.kip.capley@capitol.tn.gov, rep.jesse.chism@capitol.tn.gov, rep.mark.cochran@capitol.tn.gov, rep.john.crawford@capitol.tn.gov, rep.ron.gant@capitol.tn.gov, rep.john.gillespie@capitol.tn.gov, rep.gary.hicks@capitol.tn.gov, rep.tim.hicks@capitol.tn.gov, rep.antonio.parkinson@capitol.tn.gov, rep.lee.reeves@capitol.tn.gov, rep.johnny.shaw@capitol.tn.gov, rep.jason.zachary@capitol.tn.gov
(If it advances, it goes to the full committee with additional members.)
Additionally, reach out to those who have cosponsored HB1649. A lot of the legislators who have sponsored this bill don’t even know what kratom is. These specific legislators are most likely to remove their sponsorship:
Targeted outreach (what to emphasize):
• Hemmer: harm reduction, regulation over prohibition
• Mitchell: over-criminalization, real constituent impact
• Hakeem: community impact, unnecessary penalties
• Shaw: respectful tone, constituent reliance
• Boyd / Crawford: small business and local economy
• Vaughan / White / Gillespie: regulation, safety standards, data
• Bricken / McCalmon / Keisling: personal freedom, limited government
This is a key moment. Finance committees focus on the numbers, and right now the numbers do not support this bill. Outreach and showing up can still make a difference.

Indonesian people smoke kratom
Was listening to a Kratom podcast yesterday and the guest had made a documentary about kratom. He was saying in Indonesia people smoke kratom. Does anyone have any info about smoking it like do they smoke the leaves or make an extract etc? Cheers!

GA Safe For This Year
https://thebrunswicknews.com/news/local\_news/townsend-supports-new-version-of-kratom-bill/article\_4f762c91-20ab-48d4-ba49-2382c8cb909e.html
This is from Rick Townsends home district saying that the bill won’t pass this year (with quotes directly saying that from Townsend) I was worried about it getting added onto a bill that made it through sessions already for this year but looks like we’re safe for the time being.. Thank god
Edit: The end of the article had cut off the first time I read it but I see now he does say there’s still a slight chance he can add it on to another bill but it’s a long shot. Keep your eyes peeled I guess it’s not quite over

New Jersey KCPA
Anybody know when the New Jersey legislature will definitely pass the Kratom Consumer Protection Act? I see that the Board of Medical Examiners endorsed it a little over a year ago, but the KCPA and CJ’s law (total ban) are still moving through the senate. Anyone know what’s going on with either?

Press the attack on Matthew Davenport's Law! TN has a fighting chance! No bans! 🚨
I learned from social media today that the kratom ban hearing in Tennessee's legislature was postponed, possibly due to activists showing up and doing the work.
Please take 60 seconds and click on both links. Find your TN legislator and contact the judiciary committees. Tell them enough! We already have regulations!
