LPT - How do I get better at talking to people??
To elaborate, I’ve always been on edge in every conversation I have with someone that I don’t talk to regularly (i.e. parents, coworkers etc.). I never know what to say, I often get awkward and stonewall most people, and god forbid I have to try and talk to a stranger without a reason.
I guess what I’m asking is; how do I learn how to make conversation without over analyzing every word and/or how can I practice?

LPT If something embarrassing happens to you, laugh.
If you slipped, dropped something, got caught doing something awkward, etc, just laugh. People won't make a big deal out of it if you don't. Laughing in situations like this makes you come off as confident and likable. I've done this a few times before and it turns moments that would otherwise make me cringe to think back on to moments that make me smile and give myself a pat on the back.

LPT: Tip the actual crew doing work for you, not the owner of the company.
Years ago, I was part of a crew building custom homes.
The couple that were the future homeowners arranged for a food truck and a cooler of beer at the end of each Fridays workday.
They also sat and ate with us.
This relatively tiny investment of time and money resulted in each worker going a bit farther with QC.
This wouldn’t happen with a tip to the company owner at the end of the project.
Hundreds of homes later, I don’t think I’ve seen a more professionally built home.
I thought it was really smart.

LPT: Calling for an EMT to check on someone for an injury will not cost them anything in (the US). They will only be charged if they elect to ride to the hospital.
If you or someone you know is worried about being checked by EMTs and then being charged (for calling 911 to be checked my EMTs for an injury), you have nothing to worry about.
After they check you or the other person, decline the ambulance ride to the hospital (this is your right), and you won't be asked to pay anything. You will just need to sign that you declined an ambulance ride at the end of their check up.
Example: Your friend falls down the stairs and think they have broken their legs and sustained a wound on their head. You can call 911 and have EMTs come check them for their injuries, dress up their wounds, and provide basic care. After the EMTs are done, they will ask your friend if they want a ride to the hospital. Your friend will then decline and be charged nothing for their services.

LPT: If you listen to music on Spotify using cheap headphones, adjust the equalizer to reduce bass and raise higher frequencies to reduce the "underwater" filter effect.
You can adjust the Spotify equalizer in the settings under audio quality. Often, these cheaper headphones will have a muddy sound that's highlighted by the lower frequencies. Reduce some of these low end frequencies, raise the high end frequencies and it will, at least slightly, reduce that underwater sound filter effect that plagues cheaper headphones.

LPT: Flip pictures taken of yourself horizontally to see what you ‘really look like’ and get a huge self-esteem boost.
The person we see when we look in a mirror is actually a backwards version of what we really look like, and our brains have grown accustomed to seeing that mirror image. Camera apps like Snapchat purposefully reverse the front camera so you are looking at yourself as if you’re looking in a mirror.
If you ‘always look bad’ in every picture taken of you, flip the image horizontally (generally in the crop section of your smartphone’s photo editor), and you’ll see yourself as you’re accustomed to, mirrored, and you’ll be a lot happier with the photo. Remember to flip it back before sharing.

LPT: How to get better customer service and how to be treated better by a customer. Pt. 1 (for customers)
As a fellow customer I know how it feels when a service I paid for messes up. I know how it affects us and maybe even ruin our day, maybe it was a subscription charge that you didn't expect, maybe it was an expensive item that didn't work as intended or didn't work at all, or maybe it was the way a representative assisted you; there are a lot of things that could go wrong when availing a service and it's not uncommon.
We are all customers, we all know shit happens so why make it shittier by making yourself infuriated and making the representative that's helping you out feel shitty. Does that help anyone? Does sounding like an entitled brat give you a better service? Does screaming and swearing help out anybody? No, it doesn't. Maybe there are soft hearted people that gives in but most of the time you'll just end up getting ignored/played/laughed at and maybe even hated to the point that when you ask for their service again they might give you a shittier experience. So be a human being with a brain that actually thinks twice before they speak. You can be mad and be respectful at the same time, like who would want to help someone who's disrespectful? I know I wouldn't.
LISTEN carefully about what they're trying to explain because 7/10 it's our fault but they still apologize for it and they're the one who takes responsibility for it, basically they're gaslighting themselves for you so you won't feel stupid for messing up so when they do that UNDERSTAND everything that was told, if it was your fault OWN UP TO IT, apologize if you can and RESPECTFULLY ask what can be done to fix it, if there was nothing that can be done POLITELY ask if you can speak to a supervisor that can look into it just for you peace of mind and not because you don't believe the representative helping you out. If they were able to get it fixed then APPRECIATE them, if it's an online service and they have a survery rate it good for the representative, if it's a face to face customer service do the same and if you really appreciated them ask if there's anything that you can do to show your appreciation. Now if it wasnt your fault then calm down accept their apology and let them make it up to you there's no need to slap it in their mistake on their face, appreciate that they admited their mistake and have them fix it for you, you can ask for a compensation if the situation allows.
Be kind, be respectful, be understanding, and think twice before you do anything. It's not hard and it's not easy either but being in a calm/good mood is better than being so aggressively mad that you feel like your heart's palpitating. It's not good for the health, it doesn't make you look good, it's unnecessary and just because you paid for something you have the right to be uncivilised. Be a better customer, it helps in being a better human being overrall.

LPT: Want to save the bees? Focus on wild and native bees species! (NOT HONEYBEES!)
Honeybees outcompete native wild bee species and reduce biodiversity among bee populations. Often when people think about saving the bees they think about hives and honeybees. To that, I say NO!
To actually provide for bees and the many wild bee species, follow these steps:
Step 1. Do NOT introduce european honeybees. NO HIVES.
Step 2A. Plant a diverse range of organic NATIVE flowering plant species.
Step 2B. Make sure the plant's flower period is as wide as possible, so plant some species that flower in early spring to provide for early bees and some that flower untill late in the year to prepare bees for winter.
Step 3. Some wild bee species nest in trees and (dead) wood, others in sand and stones. Provide them with both. Piles of wood/treestumps in a sunny spot, a chest filled with clay-ground on its side, open spots of ground (e.g. between plants) disturb the ground and piles of wood and stones as little as possible.
why organic plants? They are more resistant to diseases and they dont contain pesticides that kill the bees.
Why native plants? There are hundreds of wild bee species, and every bee specializes in certain types of plants. Due to evolutionary development native bees are adapted to native plants.
Bonus step. Do research on wild bee species and solitary bee species.

LPT: Always have an updated draft of your resume AND letter of resignation for your job
Most people know that it’s a good idea to have an updated draft of their resume, but I also keep an updated draft of my letter of resignation on hand, even when I’m not considering changing jobs. It makes me feel less trapped when I’m stressed out with work knowing that all I have to do to make a change is hit copy/paste/send. And it’s much easier to draft a professional letter of resignation that won’t burn bridges if you draft it when you’re not dealing with the stress of transitioning from one job to another.

LPT: Struggling to Read More?
I've been struggling to finish books I've begun reading. The other day, I finished 3 chapters of a new book and, looking for a bookmark, decided on a $100 bill as a temporary placeholder. Then I had an idea that's been working quite well.
Use larger denominations of cash as a bookmark to create an artificial incentive to finish reading the book. Allowing yourself to use that cash only if you finish the book could give extra motivation to finish it. Since I started using this, I've been reading 2-3 hours more everyday.
If you don't feel comfortable with $100, $50s and $20s can have an equally effective incentive to finish that book you've been struggling to continue reading. The only caveat is that you'd be wise to read at home and avoid carrying $100s worth of "bookmarks" into a cafe, library, or school. If you are a parent, this could also serve as an alternative to the traditional allowance and encourage kids to finish their books.

When you put address on bank accounts or credit card do not put APT as the same line as address. Put your apt number on the box that says apt number. LPT: Nighttime Checklist for Stress-Free Mornings! Huge Game-Changer
Seeing as it's Sunday evening where I am, thought I'd share this LPT that has helped me tremendously increase the efficiency and focus of my mornings. Simply, create a nighttime checklist. Before hitting the hay, jot down tasks for you to complete in the morning, and include decisions like picking an outfit, what's for breakfast, and organizing essentials.
This quick routine saves time, reduces stress, and ensures you start your day on the right foot. Additionally, you can conserve decision-making brain-power for more important things throughout your day.
Would like to hear if you use, or start using this LPT and how it has affected your morning. What's your secret to a hassle-free morning?

LPT req: how do i get myself to actually change?
I have wanted a boyfriend since forever. I have been of drinking age for four years now. For four years, my friends and i have been trying to get myself to go up to men at bars and flirt. And for four years, I continuously have failed to do so. I never feels natural or comfortable. When I see a cute guy, he is usually with friends sitting and/or talking. I cannot fathom just going up to the whole group. Additionally, I myself am probably with a group of friends and am sitting at a table with them, not walking around and putting myself in situations to talk to strangers. I mean, what am i going to ask my friends? "will you come wander with me and then potentially stand around with me waiting for someone to approach"?? Sometimes I go into the night with good energy and intentions to be bold and talk to a guy. But even after a few drinks, I cannot get myself to do it even when I know its not a big deal and there's no real risk. I'm literally in the moment beating myself up about it. Hell I cant even hold eye contact. Tonight, a cute guy was making eye contact with me and i just couldn't hold it I had to look away. I want to change so bad but it's been four years of going in circles and saying ''tonight i'll actually do it!" and then never doing it. i feel like i'm going insane. I feel disconnected from myself - there's something I want to do and can logically and mentally convince myself to do so, but when the time comes, I just don't.
Also, trying to convince me that there's nothing to be afraid of won't help because like i said, on the surface/consciously, i KNOW that. Its like my body just wont move.

LPT: Rent Statements / Landlords can help you get approved for your mortgage.
I keep seeing these memes, "The bank says I can't afford a mortgage for $1,400 a month, so I have to keep paying my landlord $2k a month." And I think there's a misunderstanding about it that is discouraging people from attempting to get loans.
My father was a loan officer and a landlord for all my life. From what I've seen in the online community, landlords are not held in high esteem. But I always thought he was one of the good ones. He always saw to maintenance issues immediately and thoroughly. He gave them a book with their tenant rights (which he adhered to), with the lease. And he never gouged his tenants or made unreasonable increases to the rent, even when it was trendy to do so.
I bring him up because when one of his tenants applied for a mortgage, he was denied (by a few banks). Bothered to see one of his best tenants disheartened, my dad (with years in the mortgage industry) provided the tenant with a letter (to give to the bank), stating that he was his landlord for X amount of years, paid Y amount in rent, and has been timely with payments in that time (he was). The guy got approved!
Granted, Big City landlords or some corporation may not be willing to write such a letter, but I wanted to throw this out there as an option, in the hopes to make home ownership more achievable to some.
