LPT: Have an annual “finance month” to stay on top of your finances
As a financial advisor, it’s crazy how many people I meet who have no idea what their finances look like. I suggest having an annual “finance month” where you dedicate free time to financial review. I suggest Feb or March so that you have this done before taxes are due in April.
During this month:
- Review all accounts, including 401(k), IRA, taxable investment, insurance, etc. . Make sure they are invested the way you want them and that beneficiaries are correct
- Review & update estate plans a wills, trusts, beneficiaries, etc.
- Pull bank records for the last 6 months are build out “as spent” budget to see where your money went. Good chance to find subscriptions you no longer use or places to cut your budget going forward.
- Get appointments with all financial professionals you use (CPA, financial advisor, estate attorney, etc.)

LPT; if you live in an area with snow, use the show to clean your trash and recycling bins
Okay so I'm making a repost to make things more clear.
If you take out your trash or recycling while there's fresh snow on the ground, after you dump whatever's inside of it, put a good amount of snow (maybe about a quarter of the way) and shake it. Shake it back and forth so the snow has an opportunity to use it's abrasive properties to get the stuff off the sides, etc, and then since the show is fresh it'll act as an adhesive as well where all the stuff inside the bin gets stuck to it. Then you just simply dump it out.
I would repeat a few times just to get any extra stuff out but doing it for the first time today, it worked pretty well. Probably cleaned the trash bin a lot better than just pouring water in there would (and since it's not spring weathers yet we don't have the outside hose hooked up or even on).
Of course your mileage may vary depending on the texture of the snow (that's why I stated fresh snow lol) and how much stuff you have on your bins but ours was pretty dirty and it worked well.

LPT: Use a plastic cooler as checked luggage - and picnic out of your rental car.
A coleman rolling 62 quart cooler meets the dimension limits for most airlines. I pack my clothes, and a soft duffle bag. I secure the cooler with a ratchet tie strap.
When i get to my destination i move everything to the duffle and fill the cooler with ice and drinks.
On a longer family vacation we packed a camp stove, knife, condiments etc. and explored the west. Stayed in hotels but were able to make picnic lunches in the national parks.

LPT: Save time packing
Instead of packing a toiletry bag every single time you take a trip, go to the store and buy all the travel stuff you need and put it in the toiletry bag. Next time, just grab and go. I also pack small packs of ibuprofen, benedryl, tums and bandaids. You don't want to try to run to the store late at night looking for things when you feel bad, especially if you don't know the layout of the town.

LPT: instead of asking for someone's number, give them yours
As we all know, refusing to give your number to a person can be dangerous. There are plenty of guys who get aggressive or even violent after being rejected. So it's not uncommunicative for women to make up excuses, give out fake numbers or worst case scenario - be intimidated into giving their number. If you're a sane, rational person then obviously you don't want to make someone uncomfortable or scared
The solution to that is giving the person your own number. It happened to me when I was (not kidding) in a co-ed psych ward. I was about to get discharged and a guy complemented me and gave me his number. He said that I'll text him when (and if) I wish so. I was kinda floored and even though I wasn't interested to begin with, he earned my respect

LPT: Dimming iPhone Screen Brightness
You can dim iPhones past their “dimmest setting” by searching in your settings for Reduce White Point.
Go to Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Reduce White Point.
Hope this helps. Maybe this is already something people do or don’t have the need for, but I find myself using it at night.

LPT: when you're about to toss a vegetable, just add it to old pickle brine instead!
I've started buying Claussen pickle spears recently because I've realized that I can just keep it in the refrigerator and add vegetables to it, periodically exchanging water when I believe it's lost its brininess.
I'm doing cucumbers, thinking about some old apples soon here, and also some daikon radishes. It's very easy.

LPT: always bring a wide mouth insulated flask on all inclusive trips
The bigger the better, fill that sucker with ice and mojitos or any frozen cocktail you want for free in the hotel then go out exploring.
I’ve found that getting multiple drinks and pouring them in is fine but after a couple of days being friendly to the bar staff they’ll just make whatever you want right into the giant litre of fun and send you on your way.

LPT: Format your phone or computer every after 2 or 3 years.
Tech is hitting a ceiling so you don't have to format as much as you used to but the reason why is because through all the years your main drive will just be bloated with every other updates and you end up with space being used up with super old files.
A clean format once in awhile not only gets your system into an updated fast state but it also sets you up in today's tech standards.
My rule of thumb is keep files if you can print them and put them in a picture, of course legal or super important files move them to a back up drive. Never trust too much on cloud, you don't know if google drive would pull the plug. Anything else delete. When I'm working on something, I like to make sure I export a finished product and if it sits in my drive for more than a month I just delete them, holds true if you're working on video edits.
99% of the files you have right now, you don't really need and your hard drives or ssds are designed NOT to last. Even iphones go obsolete. Formatting your ssd or even hdd can also be beneficial as it tests the system and makes it stronger for any future failures. My two cents.

LPT: When getting a bday gift for a child in a large family, on the card include your relationship to the child and a square photo of yourself attached.
Including a card with my relationship to my niece and a photo of myself serves as a visual cue, helping her who may not yet recognize or remember me well, building familiarity and trust. LPT: Parents of school age children teach your kids that they are welcome to challenge your decisions with information and logic. But if they have a fit you won't change your mind.
Tantrums and outbursts become also non existent. And your kids become great problem solvers and negotiators. It also makes your rules more intentional because you know you might need to defend it.
The only slight downside is a teacher said one of our kids was 'talking back.' When we asked for more details it turns out they were just trying to negotiate respectfully and the teacher hated their authority being challenged. We backed our kid.

LPT: speeding firefighter through neighborhood. Won't slow down.
Please help with this issue, I have a neighbor who's a fire chief and lives at the bottom of our street, by the time he gets to the top he's easily doing 50mph, most of the time he's in his county issues F350 fire truck,
I've confronted him asking him to slow down, his response is, I won't slow down but if you make this an issue I'll just start using my siren from when I leave my house until Im out of the neighborhood
he's almost hit several people in the neighborhood and their dogs,
everyone on the street hates him.
He refuses to slow down, I'm terrified he's going to get some one or someone's dog hurt or killed.
What should I do?

LPT: If you sit at a desk a lot, get in the routine of tightening your office chair's bolts every month. It will save your back.
My chair was squeaking like crazy so I tightened the screws for the first time in forever. I kinda noticed that my chair was losing some support but didnt realize how bad it had gotten. Kinda felt like it was slanting forward which made it pretty uncomfortable by the time I got off work. Thought it was just time for a new chair but nope, 5 minutes to tighten some bolts and its a night and day difference.
