LPT: If you have trouble remembering to water plants, name the plants and tell them goodbye when you leave and hello when you come home.
It’ll feel weird but they’ll be on your mind when you are in the most mobile state and most likely to be able to water them as you’re thinking about it.

LPT: If you’re putting a drink in the freezer to get cold, set a gosh dang timer!
I have wasted almost as many drinks as I’ve drank to forgetfulness. I recommend 15-20 minutes.
Bonus LPT, put a damp paper towel around the drink to make it colder/get cold faster!
Edit: I originally wrote damn instead of damp on accident

LPT:Why do employers reach out to you for an offer, you tell them you're interested, and they never respond again?
I'm looking for a new job, and have sent out many applications. There have been several employers that reach out to me, I tell them I'm interested, and they'll never respond again. I even send messages later on, following up, and they never respond? Can anyone tell me why this is? The last message I had was:
Employer: Hello, u/FamiliarSurround, I see you applied for this position, how are you doing?
Me: I'm doing well, how are you?
Employer: Great! I'm looking for a full time employee for this position, are you looking for a job?
Me: Absolutely, and I appreciate your response. I would love the opportunity to have an interview. Would you happen to be available anytime this week?
Employer: (Silence) and never responds again.
This has happened several times, am I saying something wrong?

LPT: If You Have a Fridge w/ An Ice Maker and Have a Power Outage, Empty It Into the Sink
We lost power for two days to to the blizzard in the northeast US. Ice in the ice maker melted and shorted out the ice maker, water dispenser, lighting, etc. If we'd remembered to dump it into a sink we even could have used the melted ice for flushing toilets, washing hands, etc. If you'd like to keep the ice as long as possible, empty it in a ziploc bag and put it back in the freezer.

LPT Get to know your local community resources
I live in a city where city departments are still catching up with technology, along with private resource centers. We have Thrive (formerly Credo & Transitional Living), NRCIL, Anchor, and Citizen Advocates to name a few. In my 20+ years in my city I've realized that the city doesn't advertise enough and the private resource centers are doing better keeping up with the times. Unfortunately because of this, people still end up falling through the cracks cuz they don't know what resources are available to them.
So that's my Life Pro Tip: learn what resources are available to you locally and don't be afraid to ask. That's what they're there for. (Don't rely on DSS, they're not always helpful).

LPT: Why you should signal, EVEN in the middle of nowhere
I’ve been in many near-car accidents as a passenger driving with others. After the adrenaline wears off, they always make the excuse that they didn’t see another car. You should always signal no matter where you are and whether you believe somebody’s gonna see it or not.
By always signaling, you make signalling an automatic reaction. Just like breathing or walking, you don’t have to think about whether you should signal or not. It’s vital because those few seconds where you’re deciding whether to signal or not is a long time to waste when driving over 100 km/hr. If you use your turn signal every time, your hand just goes to the lever automatically as soon as you decide to make a turn or change lanes.
Also, most people “assume” the way is clear. Or simply make a mistake. As long as you use your change signal, other drivers will react accordingly.
I don’t understand why people need to make sure that somebody’s gonna see their signal before doing it, it doesn’t cost you anything, it’s free to signal. Who cares if you’re signalling and nobody sees it?
PS: You should still check your blind spots and your mirrors. Folks, just follow basic rules so we can all be safe.
PSS: What my father told me when I started learning to drive: ”Drive like every other car around you is trying to kill you“.
It’s not enough for you to be a responsible driver, I’ve avoided a lot of accidents when I had a gut-feeling that the car next to me was gonna cut me off without signaling.

LPT: Do hard things.
It's so tempting to always take the easy, convenient route. but too much comfort can mess you up. Challenges will come to you every now and then and will hit like a train if you've been too comfortable. If you make it a habit to go out of your way to do hard things regularly, you'll be more calm and comfortable when hardships come your way. After awhile you'll actually enjoy doing hard things if you habitually go in with the mindset of self improvement.

LPT Did you know that if you sit for long periods of time, your risk of developing diabetes can go up by 30%?
Did you know that if you sit for long periods of time, your risk of developing diabetes can go up by 30%?
When you sit a lot, your body has a harder time controlling your blood pressure and keeping your insulin levels balanced.
Increasing your chances of developing high blood pressure and Diabetes.
All it takes is a simple change to lower the risk.
Moving often.
This is why I aim to stand up and move around every 30-60 minutes when working.
It could be a quick 2 minute walk, stretching or some squats which doesn't sound like much.
But it all adds up.
So make an effort to get up and move around regularly - your body will thank you.

LPT: Medication Storage Pouches
Life Pro Tips: Medication Storage Pouches
A little bit of background:
I have ankylosing spondylitis, and I was on Enbrel. Enbrel didn’t work for me so I swapped meds.
Luckily for me, I ordered the free travel case Amgen offered before I swapped meds.
Now, what was once intended to be a medicine bag, is now a cable/wall plug bag for a trip in the future.
It’s a small bag, yet so far can hold:
-3 cables (1 10 foot, 1 3 foot, 1 6 foot)
-Apple 35W USB C plug with the duckhead (even the bigger international ones). Context: I’m based in US where the prongs fold, but tested with my world traveler adapter kit I bought for trips. Other region/country “duckheads” in the WTAK don’t fold, only the People’s Republic of China (prongs without holes) and US/Canada/Mexico/Japan (prongs with holes) fold.
-car cigarette plug adapter
-USB C to A adapter
-wireless “neckband style” earbuds
Pretty handy.
My tip is: when you’re on speciality medications that need to be kept cold, or kept together, order the travel pouch if you’re offered a free one from the manufacturer of your medication. Once you get off the medication, change medications, etc. you have a free small bag for whatever you need.

LPT: List all the things that you will going to do for a day to become more productive
I'm all about increasing productivity, and I have some great recommendations to share. First and foremost, I begin my day by hitting the snooze button - not going lie, it feels great. Then it's all about the morning brew. Coffee is essential for life, am I correct?
Next up, I went to the gym. Gotta get those endorphins flowing! Following that, it is time to tackle the to-do list. I divide everything down into smaller chores because, let's be honest, nobody has time for overwhelm.
I'm also a big fan of time blocking. Schedule everything, from work to leisure time. In terms of relaxation, I make an effort to take frequent breaks. Burnout is a productivity killer, y'all

In the past, I've tried to reach out to kinda check in on them but I've gotten no response, even tho we have a pretty long history. LPT, Amazon Mondays
Amazon Mondays: A Clever Approach to Taming the Shopping Beast
Dear fellow Amazon enthusiasts,
I’d like to share an idea that has transformed our household shopping habits. It’s called “Amazon Mondays,” and while it might raise a few eyebrows (especially among the wives), hear me out.
The Problem: Amazon Overload
In recent years, Amazon deliveries had become a daily occurrence at our doorstep. As much as I enjoyed the convenience, I couldn’t ignore the mounting pile of boxes and the occasional glare from my better half. Yes, I was part of the problem, but it was mostly my wife who wielded the virtual shopping cart, especially when our teenagers needed something.
The Solution: Restrictive Bliss
So, I devised a plan—a simple pact that has worked wonders for us. We call it “Amazon Mondays.” Here’s how it works:
Monday Nights Only: We agreed to place Amazon orders exclusively on Monday nights. No exceptions. This restriction forces us to pause, reflect, and evaluate our purchases.
The Cart Conundrum: Throughout the week, we’re free to add anything we desire to our Amazon cart. But come Monday, we face the ultimate decision: Do we truly need it? Is it a want or a necessity?
Urgent Exceptions: If something can’t wait until Monday (like that missing phone charger or emergency cat food), we’ll brave the outside world and visit a physical store. It’s a small inconvenience for the sake of sanity.
The Art of Removal: You’d be surprised how many items I’ve removed from the cart on Monday evenings. That impulse buy suddenly loses its allure when you’re forced to evaluate it under the “Amazon Mondays” spotlight.
Weeks Without Orders: Yes, you read that right. Some Mondays pass without a single order. It’s liberating. We’ve rediscovered the joy of delayed gratification and mindful spending.
The Verdict: Sanity Restored
So, dear friends, give “Amazon Mondays” a shot. See if it curbs your impulsive spending, declutters your home, and brings a touch of discipline to your online shopping escapades. And wives, please forgive us—we’re just trying to strike a balance between convenience and sanity.
Let me know how it works for you. I’d love to hear your experiences. 📦🛒
Happy shopping (on Mondays)! 😄
