LPT: If you have to write a report for your job follow the "Situation Behavior Impact" template to make your life and your readers lives easier.
Situation: What was the situation / problem?
Behavior: What was done to address the situation / problem?
Impact: What was the outcome / impact of the solution?
Example: "Employees reported spending up to five hours each week copying and formatting spreadsheets before uploading them to the company's shared drive. One of the company's software engineers has written a script to automate the copying and formatting process. This has reduced the toil for employees by four hours per week, and uploading to the company's shared drive is the only manual step that remains."
It's simple, to the point, and easy to read. It also gives you a consistent format that makes writing these types of reports go much faster. The worst thing for a reader is a rambling, multi-page document that contains too much fluff. This format is designed to cut down on unnecessary info.

LPT Use photos of dogs on your iPhone to brighten your day.
I rate the quality of my days by the amount of dogs I am fortunate enough to see in that time. I recently learned that you can set your iPhone (other phones too?) to display random and exclusively pupface-containing photos. Since then, my daily serotonin levels have significantly improved. It changes every time you lock and unlock your screen and I had no idea how many pupperoni pics I had from over the years!

LPT: Reheating leftovers properly and plussing-up cheap store meals, are as important of skills as cooking from scratch.
I’ve become an above-average home cook over the years, but what actually gets the most praise from people is how I know how to make the most out of leftovers without simply throwing them into the microwave and turning them into rubbery mush. But it actually usually is as simple as using a microwave for half the reheating, and then finishing in an air fryer or frying pan. Or something as simple as taking out all the veggies from a sandwich, so you can focus on the meat and bread. It sounds simple, but a lot of people overlook this and go for a one-and-done technique. To make sure there’s an actionable LPT here, I often think: how was this thing made? My reheating focuses on how each piece was originally cooked (or not cooked) and using a faster method to reheat it.
Similarly, when you have to eat something from
The grocery store or a cheap restaurant, it’s really simple to add 1-2 ingredients or sauces, and make it a good meal. The internet famous version of this is: Instant Ramen + 1 egg + green onions + a better sauce (you bought in bulk).
I love cooking from scratch, but that’s probably 70% of my meals and I usually have to reheat them for a number of days.

LPT: At airport security, don’t throw out bottles with fluids. Instead pour fluid out and keep the bottle to refill at filtered water station right after security (saves plastic and about $8.00)
LPT+: If the fluid is water, try drinking as much as you comfortably can before spilling it out, as most people are under-hydrated as is, especially when flying. This can help stave off headaches, nausea, and other unpleasantness due to flying.

LPT: Let your houseplants get acclimated after bringing them home by finding its spot, not moving it and waiting at least 2 weeks to re-pot. It wouldn’t be getting uprooted, re-planted and moved all over the place if it were growing in the wild.
It makes sense when you think about it but I see people do it a lot because they’re excited about their new plant. Basically just mimicking what their natural environment would be like as much as you can makes them grow so much quicker.

Mythbusters did an episode about this technique based on a theory about pirate eyepatches. Ever since then, when I'm moving around at night and I have to turn on a light, I just keep one eye closed until I return to darkness. It's quite effective, and so easy it's become habitual, and I do it without thinking.

LPT: Deal with grief and loss the best way that YOU can. Not how other people do or tell you.
I’m a social worker and someone who has had lots of clients that have dealt with grief and loss. I’ve also dealt with my own. Most significantly is losing my father at age 6 to cancer.
This LPT probably seems straightforward but it isn’t. True grief isn’t something that you can really encompass in a book, educational course, or even understand by reading about it. It’s an experience and that’s the best way I can put it.
There is no vanilla form of grief. Every person processes, copes, and struggles with it differently. Some may handle it in stride, some may absolutely spiral into oblivion, and some others may be somewhere in between.
Please remember that there isn’t a right way to handle it. It’s one of the hardest series of emotions and feeling you can go through. It’s not predictable and there isn’t a timeframe for it.
If you need to scream curse words and get angry as all hell…do it. If you need to cry for hours…do it. If you need to completely isolate yourself for awhile…do that too. Whatever you need to do to process and actually grieve, you need to do it. Repressing your grief will come back to bite you in the ass. I say that from personal experience and clinical experience.
Lastly let me say this. Whoever said that grief is something you overcome or get over was an absolute idiot.
I’m still grieving the death of my father 27 years later. It’s not something that I woke up one day and felt like I had gotten over. You don’t really move past grief…but you do learn to live with it and it becomes more manageable. It may flair up and kick your ass at times…but you’ve been there. It’s the initial grief that really debilitates you. And it is never easy. It will be hard.
Just remember that you need to let it run its course. And be gentle on yourself as much as you can. Do what you gotta do. That’s honestly the best advice I can give.

LPT - looking to stop/ limit caffeine painlessly?
Looking to kick/lower your daily caffeine intake without the withdrawl headaches?
Stop/limit your caffeine intake the next time you have a cold. If you pick cold medicines that do not contain caffeine (like dayquil and tylenol cold), staying on top of the dosing schedule can help keep the caffeine withdrawl headache away. You'll be feeling low energy and crummy anyway so all the symptoms will blend together.

Many of us talk so quickly to each other that we do not understand what is going on but when we take a moment to reflect and look back at the situation and we realize that the person we were talking to was struggling but if we listened with our heart and not just our ears we could have been a helping hand.

LPT - Remenber that "Black Friday" means "Profitable Friday," so these prices are not the result of the retailet doing you any favors.
The shopping day known as "Black Friday" is the day that brings retailers into the black, meaning their revenue numbers go into the positive for the year. Think about it - you're shopping at extreme discounts, yet the stores are making their big annual profit...
That means these Super Deals you're going in for are actually sustainable prices that stores could be offering all year long and still maintain profitability. The masses of people shopping at these discounted prices brings in enough business to compensate for the rest of the year's slow business. So what does that really mean about the rest of the year? The rest of the year, stores are selling for artificiallly-high prices in an effort to gouge anyone who walks through the door. They could keep Black Friday pricing all year and remain profitable because these deals are literally what drives the store to profitablilty.
Keep this in mind when you are looking at "Reduced Price!" items... that price they slap on the display tag as the "regular price" they are using as a standard of comparison? That's the unreasonably-inflated price they charge during the rest of the year in an effort to gouge you. The Black Friday price is the actual, retaialer-profitable price that the product is really worth.

Changes in temperance, energy, and life style can be symptoms of an undetected health condition. One might not think to raise these issues with their physician, but it as an important a symptom as any other physical ailment you might report during an annual checkup.
For a few years, my wife had been experiencing a gradual decrease in energy and interests that resembled depression. It wasn't until she started experiencing shortness of breath, that she was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart disease that typically manifests itself later in life. Now under the care of a few cardiologists, she has made a significant rebound, and I like to tell my friends, I feel like I got my wife back. But the scary thing is - we didn't suspect anything like this until the last set of symptoms.

LPT: When you meet new people, take time afterwards to write down as much as you can about them (e.g., favorite food/drinks, hobbies, birthdays, etc.).
Learned this from my cousin and it's been amazing! When we moved to a new city and began meeting lots of new people through work or social events, we would make sure we opened a notes section in our phone and just wrote what we could remember about people. Seems creepy to some but it's all well intentioned. When we ended up being invited to one of their homes for a little get together, we decided to bring a wine from a region that they mentioned that they loved visiting in Italy and a gift card to their favorite restaurant (as it was one of their birthdays but we were going out of town for a while). Small gift from a new couple that they took a chance on with inviting us to their home but they were so floored by the fact that we even remembered these details. Now, we're all such great friends years after getting to know them. Something as little as this just helps us show that we care about what people value and share with us, and having that come back as a surprise to them one day is a beautiful feeling!
Edit: We wrote things down in the notes section of our phones AFTER our get togethers, not in the moment of meeting them...in case that wasn't obvious! Usually in the car ride home or when we got home.

LPT my iPhone 14 won’t charge
I’ve asked for advice on what to do about my phone not charging. The past few days when I would charge my phone, it would show that it’s charging, but the battery was decreasing instead of increasing. Then I switched charger blocks, and it seemed to work for about a day. Later, I noticed when I plugged my phone in to charge, the charger was going in and out as if my phone charger was broken…. So I bought a new charger, it seemed to work for about 6 hours today.. now I’m home and my phone won’t charge at all. I even tried plugging my phone into my laptop. Idk what to do… my phones gonna die and no charger works.. help!!! Is it a battery problem? My battery health is at 88%..
