colours analysis
im not sure if i should spoiler this, but i’ll do so instead ! i did an analysis on the magical girls and their hair colours, and by looking at what each colour represents, they fit into each girl’s element. im only going to discuss homura and madoka’s as im 15 and quite bad at explaining things 😭 it took me a while to understand madoka magica, so being able to find something to analyse myself makes me really happy.
homura’s colour is purple which represents bravery, mystery and independence which fits into homura’s background
she independently reset the same month over and over again for 12 years, fighting walpurgisnacht on her own and being trapped in a maze trying to save madoka independently. mystery also refers to her personality when we first see her in the series where we can’t tell if she’s good or evil and she comes off as mysterious because of her knowledge on things to come in the future such as when walpurgisnacht arrives etc. bravery also represents how she carried on fighting for madoka after seeing madoka and all of the magical girls die over and over again for 12 years straight and continuously losing to walpurgis without falling into despair or giving up
madoka’s colour is pink which represents sensitivity, compassion and hope. throughout the whole anime madoka constantly sympathises for magical girls and she wants to become a magical girl to stop other girls from falling into despair. this also resulted in her wish which was made to erase all witches solely so that magical girls don’t need to suffer anymore, which also leads on to the scene where she gets rid of magical girls’ soul gems around the world so they don’t need to die in the despair of becoming a witch. madoka’s ENTIRE character represents hope
im still analysing the other girls’ colours, so tell me what you think! i didn’t really want to go into a lot of detail since like i said im bad at explaining things, and i don’t want to say the wrong thing D:

Rewatching Madoka again 8 years later
Yesterday while I was talking to my boyfriend, I came across Madoka Magica fanart on pintrest. I told him about how I remember watching this show when I was 10/11, not realizing how messed up it would be.
I think this show genuinely altered my brain chemistry at that age because I’m enjoy reading and watching some unique horror stories (Works by Junji Ito especially, if ykyk)
So now 8 years later, I’m a full college student and I’m rewatching this show to actually process what’s going on.
I’m on episode 3 and immediately realizing how serious this show was and I barely grasped that as a kid. Insane.
