Our National team of Mathematics won't be able to participate in IMO 2024 because the visa applications weren't submitted in time
The national team has been making steady progress each year thanks to the efforts of MathMaroc association. Last year, i believe there were 2 first year bac students in the team and they had really promising results. So i was really looking forward to their participation this year too, only this time with more experience and with more tools in their arsenal. And yet, due to some "مسؤوولين" who couldn't even submit their visa applications in time. They won't be able to participate. I can only imagine what they must be feeling right now.

Studying At USA as a Moroccan student
Salam, I'm reaching out to you on behalf of a friend who is considering pursuing further studies in the US. He has been offered a scholarship amounting to 8k per semester, but he comes from a modest financial background, and his parents (may God protect them) will be supporting him, potentially through a loan. He's uncertain whether it's worth it, especially considering the employment prospects with a bachelor's degree in Physics in Morocco and the US. He's also worried about maintaining good grades to keep the scholarship, which is based on academic excellence. If you have any insights, it would be greatly appreciated, as he is torn between pursuing his first choice of studying in the US and staying in Morocco. I trust that you can relate to this kind of dilemma.

Fiscalité Airbnb au Maroc
Bonjour,
Merci d'avance

South Korean preachers in Tetouan
Guys, I don't know if you've experienced or heard about this lately. I live in Tetouan. Before yesterday, I met two Korean ( south korea) men who were standing in front of my door. Actually, they were sitting with my neighbors before, and after that, they asked my brother to invite them into our house. Everything was alright until then. So, we invited them in and sat with them for like 3-5 hours, just talking and having fun. My mother (Rabi yhfda) prepared a Moroccan dinner for them, and they liked it.
But the strange thing is, one of them spoke very good Darija (Moroccan Arabic), and the other spoke just a little bit but spoke English. From the moment I met them, they were talking about Jesus, exactly like preachers, and they invited me and my brother to Christianity, asking us to pray together to Jesus. I have no problem with Christianity, and I love Jesus, of course, as a Muslim. To be clear, I asked them four questions they couldn't answer. I can't mention all the questions here, but here is one: If Jesus is God, and as we all know, God knows everything, and in the Bible people asked Jesus about the hour, he said only his father knows (from Uthman, I had this question).
Guys, is this even legal here in Morocco? They were kind but very strange. They asked for a lot of things: inviting themselves into our home, eating food, asking for family members' numbers, asking to go to the roof of the house, sleeping in my house, and many strange things. Of course, I accepted a few of them, just showing some kindness as a Muslim. I asked them about their plans here in Morocco and how they learned Darija, but they had a different answer every time I asked.
So, after all, I took them to a hotel where they will sleep. If you ask me my opinion, I think they were sent by a church... What do you guys think?"

Scammed/mugged in Marrakech
An unfortunate end to an otherwise great day in Marrakech… more of a vent and PSA for other tourists.
Walking to a restaurant, daytime around 2pm. Following maps on my phone so clearly stood out as a tourist - a young guy came up and explained that we needed to walk around a certain street as there is a mosque requiring women to wear burka outside (my gf was dressed modestly but hair was out) the street itself was busy and clearly had a mosque with worshipers entering.
He pointed to another street and said to follow it around to get to my destination, I could see on the map it was possible. We started walking and realised he was behind us, then called us again and said to follow him, we said no it’s okay we can see the map but he insisted and went ahead of us.
This new route was clearly residential and very quiet. He asked for money for giving directions and I politely declined saying we did not ask for help. Suddenly 2 more guys appear, and tell us to give him money, it suddenly clicks we’ve been lured. They ask me “do you want a problem” and began to push me against a wall. I reluctantly pulled 100 note but told it’s not enough. Ended up handing 200 to be left alone.
In hindsight this was entirely my fault, I was aware prior to coming to Morocco that there are scams like this. However as it’s Sunday and I am conscious to not offend anyone’s religion while I am travelling here, so listened to their advice avoiding certain areas.
I like to interact with locals while travelling however this has made me feel I’m better to ignore the locals offering help, which is a shame.

I'm totally lost and i have no idea what to do
my story is a bit long so I'll try to shorten it as much as i can and i appreciate any advice/help you can give in advance thank you
So I'm 21M half moroccan (my dad was egyptian and my mom is moroccan) i was born in egypt and lived most of my life there with few visits to morocco over the years. in 2017 my dad died of a stroke and our financial situation has been spiraling down ever since we kept living there in egypt until 2022 when my mom (seeing how bad our financial situation is) decided that me, her, and my younger sister should leave the country and go to turkey because she thought we'd have a better chance of having a better life there and with little to no planning she spent all of our money including the money i was saving up for college on the paperwork/plane tickets for us to leave even tho i kept telling her that this is a very bad idea because turkey doesn't even issue residency permits for foreigners anymore she didn't listen and we really went to turkey and long story short things just didn't go as planned at all and we ended up having to work any work just to get by and we also ended up overstaying our visa so that made it even worse. and one day as i was getting off work a policeman stopped me and asked for my permit and ofc i didn't have one so he detained me and they sent me to a detention center for 8 days then deported me to morocco where i currently am. I'm staying with one of my uncles in tetouan who doesn't even work or has any sorce of income and I'm currently relying on the money my mom sends every now and then which isn't enough at all for anything i tried looking for a job but i don't even know where to look especially with the fact that I'm basically 90% egyptian and only 10% moroccan I'm not fully integrated into society here yet and most people have a hard time understanding me even tho i fully understand the "darija" i still can't speak in it also i don't really know any french but my english is excellent (C1~C2) level i know a little bit of basic spanish but nothing crazy I'm also pretty good with computers in both hardware and software so there's that too i guess but i still have no idea what i can do or where to look for a job considering my circumstances I'm really really lost and in serious need for money.

Leaving parents house as 24yo male
I’m a 24-year-old guy, and I’m contemplating a big life change—moving out of my family home to experience life independently. Financially, I’m in a good place with about $30k in my Moroccan bank account and more savings elsewhere, so money isn’t a concern.
Here’s my dilemma: I’m incredibly introverted and work online, which makes meeting new people a bit challenging. All my close friends have left my hometown for studies or jobs abroad, leaving me feeling pretty lonely.
I’m thinking about moving to a bigger city like Casablanca or Marrakech to try and make new friends and build a new social circle. But I’m also worried about how tough it might be to start over in a new place, especially given my introverted nature.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What advice would you give to someone looking to move to a new city to find a fresh start and build a new life? How did you overcome the challenges, especially if you’re also an introvert? Any tips for making friends and getting settled in a big city?
Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
