What do you guys think about the King's speech for Throne day ?
I thought it was short.

On the occasion of Throne Day, King Mohammed VI of Morocco granted royal pardons to 2,476 individuals, including journalists Taoufik Bouachrine, Omar Radi, and Soulaimane Raissouni, as well as activists Reda Taoujni and Youssef El-Hireche.

Angry rant about the health system in Morocco.
So today, I went to a private clinic (yes a private clinic) to get earwax removed from my ears (yes disgusting, but bear with me)...I went this morning and everyone knows that the reception of any public place gives you a taste of what is to come: Awful receptionist (doesn't smile, grumpy old lady). So the first thing they ask me is to pay for the consultation. I paid 300 dirhams and waited for some time.
They called me up to see the doctor and surprise surprise, he's not the one who removed the earwax, guess who did? The receptionist who serves as both a nurse and a receptionist.
I swear I could've let this pass and forget about it, but when she started the cleaning, she wouldn't stop with sarcastic comments and off color jokes about the horrors she excavated from my ears. I just stood there and didn't say a word, but I swear I wanted to punch her because A)she's paid to do this job, no one is forcing her to do this, she can quit and spare people. B) She works with patients who are sick and would rather hear a kind word than a series of sarcastic comments (TANZ L3akri in our darija).
I'm sorry for this long post, but healthcare providers in Morocco need to learn kindness before treating patients. I don't care about me, I'm laughing about it now, but there are cancer patients, there children and old people who suffer. If you're gonna be disrespectful to them, what's the point of working in this sensitive sector? They teach them about science in med school but they forget to inculcate empathy in them.
A doctor or a nurse who lacks empathy and kindness is not qualified to see patients, they need to find another line of work.

The 1990s generation, often referred to as "90s kids," experienced family gatherings in a unique and cherished way. Without the distractions of smartphones and social media, these gatherings were centered around face-to-face interactions, shared meals, and activities that brought family members clos

People don't mind their own business
I noticed that some people tend to observe others exessively in our comminity, saying that you're sitting in a coffe, most people won't focus on others sitting ajacent to them, but some get very occupide with those around them, to them it may seem that they don't notice, they start critiquing or commenting on the way they dress, look, or act, I know that because I sat with people like that, and there's a lot of them. to me if someone was sitting close and keeps staring frequently I find it quite uncomfortable and annoying.

Is It Illegal For Unmarried Couples To Be Alone Together In Morocco?
Just curious is it illegal for unmarried couples to be alone together in Morocco? Is it illegal for them to have sex? I ask this because a woman you try to date there or an ex could extort you. What about women getting pregnant out of wedlock? Would the man get in trouble if the woman refused to have an abortion? Also, how does this situation change for a non-moroccain couple living in morocco vs. a male westerner and female moroccain?

Could Morocco host the Olympic Games?
I just gave it a quick though.
It could be insanely epic. We have a strong culture that actually modernised without being carried away by westernisation. Instruments, architecture, clothes. The ceremony could be amazingly unique. Even the Olympic pools could use some zelige or any Moroccan art, just like Paris did with its monuments and streets.
Considering that they’re gonna host the World Cup it’s not impossible in a nearby future, especially since Africa has never been a host.
There’s no real competition besides South Africa. Egypt is just a mess, I can’t imagine the Olympics taking place in Cairo. South Africa on the other hand has to deal with power cuts and an absurd level of criminality.

About moroccan athletes
Because of the first poor performances, I read certain comments about athletes who are there thanks to their connections and do not deserve their place at all. Is this pure bs or is there some truth to it ?

Is it normal to visit a psychologist for loneliness?
Is it a thing in morocco? Would he laugh at me? because my only issue in life is being lonely and not having contact with the other gender at all for years, and its messing me up mentally to the point that I’m aware that I need therapy or just to talk to a professional therapist to help me ease the pain.

What Moroccan archetypes of people are you fond of?
I found this question in another sub and I thought it was cool, so I'm posting it here.
For me:
-Middle-aged loud funny women who would help you with your makeup in the dressing room before weddings. They got that teenager girl energy whatever their age.
- Those men in your neighborhood who are always eager to help when something bad happens. They are so casual and got street smarts. They talk with their neighbors just when there is something to help with.
-The weed smokers guys who are surprisingly so polite and sweet talkers, would help you with your courses.
- The older smiley man who calls you 3mi.
- The older woman who acts like your mom but cooler. Who got no ego and she plays the role of the peace maker when conflicts arise, eases the atmosphere with her jokes and tries to calm down the ones getting mad.
What about you

Domestic violence in morocco
Right now, neighbors are fighting. I mean, the man is hitting his w*ife and threatening her and her kids, and no one is saying anything. I've seen so many cases like that, and I want to know if there are some authorities that can help in these cases because the kids screaming and begging their father to stop hurts me so much. I hate that we in Morocco often ignore domestic violence and no one protects women here.

Did people here experience the heatwaves? I'm a Dutch journalist interviewing people about high temperatures all over the world
Hi, my name is Maarten, I hope this post fits within the rules for r/Morocco. I'm a reporter for the Dutch newspaper Trouw, and this summer I'm interviewing people all around the world. The world is getting warmer, and I'm curious how high temperatures affects daily lives in different places.
I'm very curious about the recent experiences in Morocco. I've read the news articles last week about the elderly people who died, and was pretty shocked by that (I hope that you're families are ok.) If you want to, please share your stories / experiences in the comments, and send me a PM if you would be open for a short phone / video interview. Many thanks!

Scared stray puppy dog Berkane
In my street there is a stray puppy dog all alone and scared. The dog is a couple of weeks old i think and very affectionate, i gave it milk and it kept playing and following me before it returned to its place. I am not sure what I can do, I looked up if there is any dog shelter here but I couldn’t find any. I am on holiday here so there is not much I can do for the dog. Any advice? Thank you

Travelling to Morocco in 4 days and very scared of catching fatal diseases i.e., rabies.
I (24m) have booked tickets to travel.with a few friends to Marrakech on the 1st of August and I have only realised how badly I have messed up by only being able to get last minute vaccinations on the 30th of July as opposed to getting the earlier (we only really had the holiday booked on may 31st and due to working 5 days a week and studying for a masters I will be taking in September I messed up on getting earlier vaccinations).
I am not concerned about losing out on the money I already spent on travel insurance, flight and accommodation because I will be commuting for my masters and have enough saved.
What freaks me out is that I only found out recently that malaria isn't that much of a problem in Marrakech but instead typhoid, hepatitis a, tetanus and rabies especially are high risk in Morocco compared to the UK - I'm scared that my last minute vaccinations will not be sufficient and thus this trip could be fatal, particularly in the case of rabies as people have died from it in the past when visiting.
I am taking other precautions like only drinking distilled water, never from the tap, but I don't know what else I can do to ensure I don't contract anything and honestly feel like booking this holiday was a mistake and that I should cut my losses while I can before I contract something lethal.
Specifically I need advise on whether I will realistically be at high risk in Marrakech, to determine whether this holiday is worth it. Also what can I do to ensure that I don't contract the following (Hepatitis A, Tetanus, Typhoid and Rabies, I know Typhoid is passed via contaminated food), on top of these last minute vaccinations? For example, I know they have street dogs in Morocco but I am scared of the possibility of stray dogs having rabies and biting me when I'm unaware as dogs with rabies are apparently common in Morocco. Also I mentioned malaria as I was so fixated on it previously but only recently found out how poor my judgement was.
Please help, I know it might sound ridiculous to some of you but I am genuinely terrified after this realisation.

La3robiya MREs in the boats
Controversial but funny topic.
For Moroccans still living in Morocco, who are the "la3robiya" living abroad? Belgium? France? Italy?
For sure it is not Spain, the US or the UK.
Just saying this because I took a boat from Spain to Northern Morocco and couldn’t stop being completely embarrassed by the lack of proper manners from my fellow maghrebi brothers.
In the hallway of the boat there was this family with a napkin cooking a tajine and eating a watermelon.
It was a 4-5 hours trip.
Kids running everywhere and screaming.
People sleeping on a fortune bed in the hallway.
Can’t people behave for a couple of hours?
There are chairs, you can bring some snacks, make your kids behave but I was embarrassed seeing how the boat turned into a mess, food everywhere and people not understanding the purpose of a chair.
And kids screaming and running everywhere, when I was a kid my parents knew how to handle me and make me tied to the chair. If I started being noisy they’d scold the shit out of me.
I took a boat to the Baléares and there were also families but the boat was 10x cleaner. The only trashy one was the one to Ibiza full of British drunkards.

What gift would you get a Moroccan mother?
I started working recently and want to buy my mother something with my first salary, I can't ask because I want it to be a surprise.
Any ideas? I would look online but I think the cultural aspect of this sub would help with the suggestions.
FWIW my mom doesn't like gold, she has a watch.
I really got no clue.
