looking for a job as a student.

I'm 19, about to start my second year at 'La Fac,' and I really want to earn some money so I won't be a burden on my family especially since my father has been struggling with debt since COVID. I want to be able to sustain myself and never have to ask my parents for money. I'm studying computer science, and even though I feel like I have no skill or talent whatsoever, I’d love to find a job that helps me improve and build a strong resume.

Opening a mental health charity in Morocco

Hi everyone, I was wanting to seek some advice/ guidance on the likelihood of being able to open a successful charity in Morocco.

I am from the UK but have visited Morocco a few times this year. I absolutely fell in love with the country, despite so many hardships I found the people to be friendly and the country itself to be beautiful. One of the things I noticed is that many Moroccans I spoke to told me of their experiences with mental health. They spoke of anxiety, depression, and trauma. Much of which I suspect is linked to the current economic environment, as well as other reasons.
When discussing treatment for mental health conditions, most of the people I spoke to stated they were unable to afford therapy or treatment, and so suffered in silence.
I’m a Clinical Psychologist by background and have been for many years now. I’ve always wanted to work for a charity, and it got me thinking about potentially opening a charity in Morocco dedicated to supporting the mental health of the community.
However, I spoke to some local friends in Morocco and they suggested it would be impossible to do - they cited corruption of the government as being a major factor.
What are people’s thoughts on this? Is it doable? Would there be a need? Does anyone know of any similar charities that are operating in Morocco?
Thank you in advance 💛🙏🏽

Unemployed at 24 and worried

I wanna be able to provide for my family but I'm uneducated and kinda slow, i honestly don't even know why I'm posting here to be completely honest with you but i guess i'll take any advice i can get. I heard call centers could hire someone like me so i made a semi believable resume in the hopes that i might get something. The only jobs I've done so far were Freelance and construction so i wouldn't consider myself experienced in any specific high paying field. Thing is i'm stressing about it 24/7 and the shame of being in this position is starting to take its toll, we barely had any money to bury my father and now i want to save my family and restore my honor and dignity

What would you do if you were in my shoes, should i just join the army or some shit?

Sending my love to Morrocans

I just came back from paris and I genuinely applaud how nice, helpful and respectful Morrocans were!

I have had Moroccan friends and my boxing coach for a good while was Morrocan.

I really just wanted to extend my thanks and respect to my brothers and I would really hope I can return the favor one day!

Wish all of you the best and feel free to reach out if I can help in any way.

why is medecine so demanded in morocco ?

i always thought med school was a field that people avoided due to it's long duration and high difficulty, yet when i reached high school, literally EVERY single person i encounter aims for med school after they get their baccalaureate, or they at least pass the med contest even when they dont have it as their priority, i expected med school's popularity to decrease this year due to the current situation, not at all, all i see is people claiming that it's their dream, people willing to try up to 4 times to get into med school, and that despite all what the country makes the students go through.
why is it that people value it so much no matter the circumstances ?

This needs to stop !

I've been to agadir, Marrakesh, Casablanca, fes, oujda, for this past 2 months, and I'm currently in saidia, and I just wanted to get this out of my chest, the cat calling of some men and constantly trying to get the attention of women especially female tourists (european) genuinely needs to stop, these creatures be acting like they've never seen a woman in their lives, they'll start hitting on any relatively hot woman and especially European female tourists, that's why people now advise solo female travelers to not visit morocco I don't know a single female tourist that I talked to didn't at least got catcalled by some random crooked burned fuck face in some street and it's just pissing me off, i wander how it became so normalized and these creatures can do whatever they want ro these women and just get away with it, we need to do something abt this it is out of control

One of my biggest regrets

Hey everyone,

Im a teenage boy who lives in Morocco but unfortunately, i can barely speak darija or read arabic.

I grew up in a French speaking household ( both my parents used to live in France and i was born there ) and studied all my life in French schools , « la mission ».

I never really had the chance to learn arabic and it makes me feel bad . Im too busy with my studies so I’ve never rlly found the time for it . I wish i could speak and read arabic , imagine, a Moroccan who can barely speak his own language.

Whenever i have to go out or talk to somebody outside , i feel like a stranger and I also never made friends outside my school.

In September, I’ll pass in my last highschool grade , my last year here before i go study abroad and im afraid I’ll never be able to master my own language.

Any tips? Any thoughts ?

Thank you Morocco

Dear Moroccans,
I am a Kurd who is married to a Moroccan woman from Tangier (Don’t worry she was Born and raised in Spain, not a PassportBro).

I have been visiting your country for 2 years now, and wow, you are truly good people.
Everywhere I went people have been very welcoming, respecting and kind, even though my arabic has been on a level of a toddler.

I have been through most of Middle Eastern countries and none of them come close to Moroccans, and for that, Thank you.
May Allah continue to bless your land.

Why people speak French with their kids

I don’t understand why some people who speak darija perfectly only speak to their kids in French. I hear many parents speaking darija between them and whenever they say something to their kids they say it in French, as if kids can only understand French and aren't able to speak darija or it sounds too “tough” for kids or I don’t know.

It’s sad that many countries even from the third world all speak their native language to their children and don’t have an inferiority complex.

And before someone says I’m jealous or whatever, I went to “la mission” schools when I was a kid and speak French fluently.

What can the Moroccan Diaspora give back?

For those of us selfishly fortunate enough to have been born & brought up in the “1st world” and feel (like myself) crushing guilt & genuine heart break for as long as we’ve been able to think for ourselves at the audacity we have to come back home and live practically care-free for a couple of weeks a year thanks to the sterling/euro/dollar, I ask YOU the native moroccan who was born in & lives in morocco, what real, lasting, perhaps even systemic(?) change can we contribute in raising the standing & quality of life for our fellow brothers & sisters? Im due home soon and I cant help but become even more disillusioned as I get older. Im 31 now and it pains me to see that there genuinely are just the haves (“labas 3lihom”) and the have nots … the majority who have to “dipani” day to day just to have enough. What way is there realistically to help bring about a a middle class for example? I know..its not just the govt/system, its also the mentality of the people as a whole that affects things, but its not just one or the other and ultimately I find it hard to justifiably put blame on the masses who to begin with were never given much of a chance to learn/improve etc by the powers that be. for added context, we are jebala and only so many decades ago, pretty much all of my family on my fathers side, were substinence farmers in Jbel, after which a few years in establishing themselves in the close by city (in this case larache) were able to make the move to the UK (and other sides of my family to spain etc. respectively) in the late 70s & 80s.

When I’m advised against giving money in the streets, or purposefully overpaying in the markets and not bothering to negotiate lower prices (as is a very moroccan thing to do) because “they’re con artists dayrin 7sen mennek” (never mind the old lady selling na3na3 from dawn to dusk) I am reminded of the many studies that prove the way in which low trust societies are stunted from their potential to develop compared to high trust societies and that really and truly if I can at the least be the change I want to see in the world by being just one man who is injecting more cash into the local economy, I’m seen as bonkers and naive lol. I know where my heart lies and I love my people. Feel free to speak your mind here and give me your 2 cents on what I’ve said. I am open to learning. Shukran.

Insanity of this country

I have a serious question I have been living in Europe for 6 years and now decided to go back to Morocco to stay close to my Family but literally how can you be a sane person and survive here it’s crazy how nothing make sense, some people are just insane, the prices don’t make sense, taxes don’t make sense, laws don’t make sense, restaurants don’t make sense, housing prices don’t make sense either, literally nothing is okay.

Budget and reliable car in morocoo budget of 8k-14k?

Hello it's me gym tawba, ( pricing is 80,000.00 dh - 140,000.00 dh) not 8000

I'm trying to buy my official first car my father owned a few in the past and i know how to drive in a decent sense so i'm not a beginner.

I'm trying to pick a car for my family and not sure which brand to chose and what should be going with.

Used or brand new?

Mainly city with a few trips occasionally.

My budget won't allow me to buy a brand new car unless i continue with down payment with the bank since just the paperwork take like 1k i assume but at least u can get a decent cheap dacia.

Alternativly what the best petrolium consumer budget car should i just get a dacia sandero and call it quite for the 14k budget or buy a cheaper model for 10k invest the rest of my 4k in my other stuff?

Observations from My Vacation in Morocco (Marrakech and Casablanca)

I’m currently vacationing in Morocco, spending 5 days in Marrakech and 2 days in Casablanca, and I wanted to share some of my observations:I haven't seen people starving in the streets. Most Moroccans seem fairly nourished, but I’ve noticed that it’s rare to see an overweight person. In Casablanca, there are some beggars, mostly very old people. I’ve walked about 20KM and saw only 5 beggars. Interestingly, I’ve not seen any working-age men or women begging. However, there are middle-aged women desperately trying to sell wallets, which feels like a form of begging.I haven’t seen small children wandering the streets by themselves, unlike in some Latin American countries. There seems to be a system in place that keeps them safe. The 4G service is impressive; I’ve had coverage everywhere, even on the train from Casablanca to Marrakech. The train system is decent, though the trains are a bit run down. Still, they seem better than what I’ve seen in countries like Argentina.Casablanca and Marrakech have significant traffic problems. The smell of gasoline (incomplete combustion) is prevalent, and the traffic is chaotic.Life in Morocco appears to revolve around trade and hustling. It’s intense. In one day in Casablanca, I saw three separate fistfights between cab drivers.Despite all this, I never felt in danger. Moroccans are naturally friendly and approachable.
