Lawyer recommendations in Agadir
Salaam,
A week ago my dad (lah ira7mou) passed away back where we live (Netherlands). We buried him yesterday as he still had to be brought to his birthplace. Unfortunately we also found out he was married and thus had another wife.
We would have liked to be able to focus on grieving, but after the burial we immediately had to talk to this second wife and we were pressed to find a solution.
Important side note: my mom did not give an approval of this marriage.
My question now is, do any of you have a recommendations for a lawyer in Agadir that speaks english, has a specialty in family- and inheritance law? We want to finish this as soon as possible and make it easy for all of us.
Choukran :)

I believe the level of financial literature in our country is low...
Let's talk about it! I think this impacts the young people a lot, because let's face it, we're wasteful, we've been spoon fed financially our entire lives that when we receive our paycheck the first idea is how to spend it, not how to save it and invest it for the future, some smart people save but I think we're starting to see less and less of those people
There's many arguments I can make on this topic, but I'll save them, so tell me, how can we fix this problem? Do you perhaps think this problem does not exist? Why?
Note: I don't have any statistics to back my claim, it's purely an opinion based on what I've seen, but I'd appreciate if you can link supporting/opposing evidence

Parents and family structure
Hello everyone,
Don’t you think that in Morocco, obedience to parents is sometimes used to manipulate children by their parents? If we analyze the conflicts within families resulting in Divorce, wouldn’t we question ourselves how mothers-in-law often cause a lot of troubles to couples. Their opinion is the only option that counts.

Language exchange buddy
Hi! I hope this is okay to post on here. I’m looking for a darija speaking language exchange buddy. In return we can also speak in English (my accent is a neutral British accent).
I am Moroccan however raised in the uk. I would love to better my darija (it’s conversational and I can somewhat difficultly get by) but also would love to familiarise myself with the cultural nuances of the language that I missed out by learning it through my parents.
I am 21f so would like someone around my age. Maybe with similar interests: art and culture, politics, reading, fashion/thrifting.
If this sound interesting to you please message me! (Serious inquiries only plssss😊😊)

The dakhilis are wary of the Riffians
https://preview.redd.it/i3an6bajn1kd1.jpg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32bf47c2923ed40dc62ea3ba14d1a0080cb2afe0
I am an Amazigh from Rif (but my mother is Arab from Meknes). Since I was young but in particular since the events of 2016-2017 with zefzafi, I have seen a lot of contempt on the part of the dakhilis compared to the Riffians. There is also anger in the other direction. Where does this mutual distrust come from? the people of dakhil often have a great love for the king and the monarchy, which is less the case for northerners in general? but that does not explain this hatred, because even the Sahrawis who for many despise the monarchy seem to get along well with the Arabs from the interior.. I remember in 2018, a man had heard these neighbors speaking in Amazigh about the Rif , he went to tell the father of the family that we were all Moroccans from Tangier to Lagouira. I have the impression that many Moroccans were raised with the idea that the Riffians are traitors. The number of comments I have seen welcoming the imprisonment of Zefzafi (which is supported by almost all Riffians), some are jubilant about the abuse they could suffer for his rebellion against our good and great king. I don't think it's hatred that targets the Amazigh because the Chleuhs are much loved due to their love of the monarchy. I don't understand why historically the power in place does not like the Riffians (and the northerners in general to a certain extent), Muhammed 5 seemed to admire Abdelkrim, the declaration of a Rif republic was only a tactic to gain recognition and reconquer the rest of Morocco (and the Maghreb), why blame those who fought to free their land.
Nb : I preferred not to talk about the sultan's refusal to help Abdelkrim, the barbarity of Hassan2 in 58, in the 80s insulting the savage chamalis... The Riffians have more reason to have feelings than the opposite . I notice that even educated and supposedly open Moroccans will support these actions in the name of blind nationalism.

I want to make him Tagine to cheer him up but I’m worried the Tagine recipes recipes I’m finding in America won’t taste authentic. If anyone has a recipe they’re willing to share or tips I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much :)

The infrastructure projects missing in Morocco to drastically accelerate its development.
Let me guys know what you think!
(1) 2 nuclear power plants to diversify the energy mix and be able to produce electrical energy at competitive prices for industrial purposes.
(2) Hydrocarbon refineries (at least 3), LNG terminals for the reception and gasification of Liquefied Natural Gas in addition to an increase in storage capacities to withstand changing geopolitical hazards influencing the price of energy.
(3) Nigeria-Morocco-Europe gas pipeline and Xlinks electricity connection project between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom.
(4) Transform the national electricity grid into a smart grid and connect the entire national territory to this network. In addition to the Xlinks project which plans to connect the United Kingdom to Morocco, it is also necessary to connect to the Mauritanian electricity grid and that of the Canary Islands.
(5) Flood the Sebkha Tah to create a new activity in the middle of the desert, both economically and touristically.
(6) Unblock the estuaries of several rivers in Morocco, especially those that are dried up, and build artificial lagoons to create aquaculture/tourism projects.
(7) Undersea fiber optic cables to directly connect the USA (10 of the 13 Internet root servers in the world) with Morocco and Africa without going through Europe. We will also eventually be able to have direct cables to the UK and Brazil (rising digital economy)
(8) Build seawater desalination plants along the national coastline, to better withstand water shortages and to be able to keep more water in the regions further upstream. Construction of a water highway to benefit the most desert regions.
(9) Railway tunnel through the Ourika Valley between Marrakech and Ouarzazate instead of the road tunnel. More economical and secure, this tunnel can be used for passenger transport as well as for freight using a rail transit station for heavy goods vehicles at the 2 tunnel entrances.
(10) Rehabilitation and modernization of the winter sports resorts of Oukaimden, Michlifen, Jbel Hebri, Bouiblane. Build new ones if possible. For Oukaimden, possibility of building a railway station in Ourika and a cable car to go directly to the resort.
(11) Rehabilitation of the city of Lagouira and more economic integration with Mauritania.
(12) Draconian industrialization of Morocco, we must eventually be one of the largest buyers of raw materials in Africa. For example, it is nonsense that we do not have a heavy metallurgical industry in the South while the 🇲🇷 is one of the largest producers of iron.
(13) Build a considerable merchant navy fleet to be able to explore new import/export routes with more profitable timetables and also to not be too dependent on foreign companies.
(14) Development of the railway network. High-speed line, upgrade classic lines to 120-160 km/h, Build new lines and denser network in high added value areas to connect them to the hinterland.
(15) Development of the southern motorway axis to eventually have a fast and secure corridor to the far reaches of West Africa. Also development of the Beni Mellal-Midelt axis which is a necessary step for the development of Tafilalet.
(16) Construction of roads and bridges in the mountainous regions of Morocco to enable the development of ecotourism and sports tourism in these remote areas

Malaysian visiting Morocco
Hi, I'm a Malaysian will come visiting Morocco on early September. This is my first time visiting Morocco. I've been doing some homework but there are some things that I may have missed, can someone help me out here, thank you.
1. Do I need to declare any sum of money upon arrival?
2. Is it compulsory to book a hotel if I'm being invited by friends to stay over at their house? --- Do I need to provide the Invitation letter upon arrival?
I appreciate your replies in advance, no rude comment please.

why is it called Berrad when its used to heat up tea, not cool it down?
berd = cold
berred = to make cold
berrad = that which makes things cold
but in practice, its put on a stove to heat up and brew the tea, not make it colder.
is the name berrad related to a forgotten practice that does what the name implies ?

Phone stolen in Marrakech
So I’m a tourist in Morocco and was walking this morning at around 7:20am on the road in Medina Marrakech with luggage in one hand and phone in there other hand, when two motorcycle thieves rode from behind me and quickly snatched my Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra from me before I could even realize what’s happening, I tired chasing but they zoomed off.
I went to the police station while I could still track my phone on my friend’s phone using find my phone Google app, it was 11 km away. But the police just checked and didn’t do anything about it, they said it’s the end of their night shift and I’ll have to wait till 9:00 am for the daytime staff to arrive. When they’ve arrived my phone didn’t share live location anymore, so they asked me details to fill out a report and I provided the IMEI number and I got a copy of their report.
My questions are, would the thieves be able to access my data? I changed my google password and factory reset the phone, it said it will be factory reseted once the phone comes online.
And do I have any chances of the police recovering my phone?
I asked if they can track the IMEI code but all they told me was that they will contact me if they find anything.

Car rentals in Agadir
Hello,
I'm going with my sister to Agadir and I want to rent a car.
I don't have a driver license so I want to put my sister as the driver, but I'll be the one paying since she doesn't have a credit card.
When I try to rent one online (via booking.com for ex) they always ask for the credit card of the deposit to be under the same name of the driver, so that's an issue for me.
What can I do? Do local companies accept this name difference thing? Or do they accept cash deposits?
Also I don't know how to find and contact these local companies, should I wait until my arrival in Agadir's airport or is it risky?
Also what's a reasonable price for a daily rental and for the deposit money?
Thanks for your help.

I’m moving from USA to Rabat for ~1 year. How much should I pay in rent?
24M. I was born in the USA and lived here my entire life. My mom is Moroccan, and we have family in Rabat.
I’m moving to Rabat in September and I plan on living there for ~1 year for funsies (and to spend time with my grandma cuz she’s getting older).
How much should I expect to pay in rent for a 1 bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment? I’m thinking around Agdal.
Is $700/month doable? Too much? Too little? I need good WiFi too :-) Any input is very much appreciated!
P.S. Do younger people in Morocco (like in their 20s) speak English? Haven’t been there since 2017 so I honestly forget. Just tryna see the likelihood of getting a girlfriend, cuz my darija is chwiya 50/50 🥲

Help with kitten in Marrakech
Hello, I’m visiting Marrakech and this morning came across a kitten with a nasty eye infection. Luckily eye infections in kittens are easily treatable but can be deadly if not dealt with. As a visitor, I don’t have a car or a cat carrier or the ability to make phone calls or much time which makes the task a bit overwhelming on my own.
I’m determined and I’m willing to pay to take it to a vet and make sure it gets checked out and medicated. Please message me if you like animals and want to join me tomorrow on a little kitty rescue mission.
