What are some differences between Moroccans and Middle Easterners?

Hi guys

Im a Yemeni in diaspora, I grew up in Manchester and I’ve met a lot more Moroccans since moving out for uni.

Although we’re all Arab the differences between us Middle Eastern Arabs and you guys are quite distinct. Yes I know you guys also have Amazigh culture but Amazigh are also Muslims. You guys seem chill when it comes to religion (not all obvs but the students I meet from bigger urban cities) it may be suffi influences? Either way I really like the blend of traditional and modern you guys have.

What other differences do you guys see between us?

It's scary how much hate immigrants face in Europe

source : @ada\_lluch

Don't get me wrong, I’m defending legal immigrants. people who have homes in Europe, kids born to Moroccan parents living there. The rise in anti-immigration propaganda and calls for mass deportation, both legal and illegal immigrants, is honestly terrifying. Especially seeing how many people are on board with it, fueled by incidents like what happened at the German market and the woman being burned in the subway.

Your opinion laws wise

Has anyone ever been provoked verbally by someone you thought was your friend, or described as sick, and your response was violent towards them, i.e. you lost control? Knowing that after that they wanted to accuse you of attempted murder and wanted to accuse you of witchcraft because their family is in the police.

Is it acceptable for male tourist to wear a djellaba / fez hat to fit into the local population or polo tee with long pants is fine?

I just want to enjoy my learning trip to morocco and not get too many attentions. I read online that older moroccan male wear djellaba / fez hat while younger males wear more polo tee and pants. I do not want to look like a clown at there hence I am asking. Thank you.

If people wear djellaba and fez hat, would it be better to get them at better quality at Casablanca , Marrakech, Rabat or Fez? Thank you.

Needs some ideas for Moroccan gifts to foreigner friends

Hello,

I'm living abroad and I'm not really a person who buy gifts ( it never was my thing), but this time I want to buy something for my beloved friends who supported me lately as I was having some troubles let's say...

So the idea is to buy something Moroccan but with a personal touch... So I'm looking for any ideas.. here's some hints:

- a Mexican friend (he always brings me Chili sauce from his home country and he is an artist/ geek
- a Tunisian married couple (they like music and tea)
- a Tunisian female friend who likes painting
- an indian male friend
- a french freind who is passionate about middle age history and "les jeux de rôle" he is also very Christian
- a french/Malian friend xith whom I play football and who likes rap music

Thank a lot for any propositions.

IS it okay to feel down and lost young men 26y ??

Hi all,
Let's get straight to the point, I feel down and lazy, my routine consist of work (depends on each day 8 hour to 12, sometimes night shift) and staying alone in a room. I don't socialize anymore, I lost contact with bunch of friends. Is it normal ? Is this how it is adulthood ? Too many responsibilities.
And when I think I need to cheer myself, face the world, try to be extrovert, maybe searching for a dates or a relationship. I get surprised and shocked. Even if I found someone I get interested to, I get fears that I m a failure or I will fail this relationship, so I give up.
Is it okay to feel like that ? I wanna know, it's eating my brain out i keeping thinking like that whole day.
Thank you

Moroccans and their relationship with Christmas

I love how my family always manages to bring everyone together at this time of year. Every december 24th, we would always be around a big meal, a yule log, and sometimes even fake wine. But of course, "we don’t celebrate christmas". Mariah Carey herself could be singing in the kitchen and they’d still deny it. The only thing missing are the gifts, and even that, we used to get some when we were kids. They weren’t brought by Santa Claus but by a guy in a red suit with a long beard. The only difference was his name, Baba Noel, and he didn’t come from the sky but from Tinghir. But hey "we don’t celebrate christmas"
I wonder how many people have this kind of weird relationship with it 🙃

What can I do regarding a hairdresser posting me on instagram without my consent?

I went to this hair salon to cut my hair (mind you I'm a hijabi) after the hairdresser was done she insisted on taking a results video of my hair while covering my face with my hands but told her not to post it to which she agreed, and later she messaged me on instagram telling me to give them a review on the haircut and how much i liked it and allat, I didn't want to so I just ignored her, and then she proceeded to actually post the video she took on her story. I called her and told her to take it down and she refused and starte yelling at me telling me it was her salon and she can do whatever she wants and post whoever she wants. Can I actually sue her or something?
