Alcohol Possession in Public

Last Saturday, I had planned with a couple of friends to buy some alcohol and head to one of our friend’s places to chill and play music. We went to the only liquor store in the city. Each one of us bought our own beers, and we all chipped in for a 1L of gin.

After making the purchase, we were heading to meet a friend near a souk. We were discussing the plan and whether he'd want to join us later. Suddenly, four wild policemen appeared and started asking what we were doing and all that (which was fine). One of them noticed my black plastic bag, and I told him there's alcohol. He questioned where I had bought it, and I said, "Andre," which is the only liquor store in the city.

After confirming our IDs and whatnot, they confiscated my possessions and had me ride with them to the station to write a Ma7der (official report).

Throughout the situation, I remained calm, respectful, and answered their personal questions. We had the following back-and-forth conversation:

Me: Where am I in the wrong for having the police confiscate my legally purchased alcohol?
Officer: Because this is Morocco, and it's an Islamic country.
Me: But I bought these drinks legally, and they have the stamp (jamaric) on them.
Officer: You can't be in public with alcohol, even if you're not drinking or have it open.
Me: So I can legally purchase alcohol, but it's illegal to be caught with it?
Officer: Unless you're not Muslim.
Me: Not everyone is born into a Muslim family. Some are born into different religions or none at all.
Another Officer: Show me your cross or Jewish papers, and I'll let you go.
Me: I don’t have any of those things you're asking for, and even if I did, it wouldn’t prove anything.

At this point, one of their higher-ups cut in and said, “Just let us finish this Ma7der, and you can be on your way."

My question would be is this legal are they following the law with their actions ?

Living in Taghazout/Tamraght Cost Of Living?

I’m an Aussie who is a UK resident, who is currently on holiday here for a week. I live in London and I’m currently between jobs and paying a lot of money to remain in London, living in a flat share paying £1000 pcm and the gloomy winter is certainly not helping my mental state.

I’m seriously thinking about forfeiting my London place (just need to give one months notice) and coming back down here with my laptop and applying for jobs from here, or even get some remote/freelance thing off the ground.

Out of interest, how much would a studio/1 bed flat cost in Taghazout or Tamraght per month, cost of groceries etc. I’m also willing to stay in a hostel dorm and I’ve seen them as low as £200 a month.

I’m also aware of the 90 day stay limit, but I read it’s actually 180 days in a 12 month period. Has anyone had any trouble leaving the country and returning?

Thanks in advance

Why is everything available in Casa?

Why do companies tend to have most of their branches there, I was searching for boxing shoes here where I moved but holy shit the prices were high.

If I was in Casa I could have found them in the same day probably in القريعة or somewhere else.

I understand that yeah its the commercial capital of the country but we just need to make things more available all around Morocco.

Anyone Here Take Cold Showers? What’s Your Experience?

I’ve been hearing a lot about the supposed benefits of taking cold showers, like improved focus, better mood, boosted immunity, and even faster recovery after workouts.

But let’s be real—standing under freezing water doesn’t exactly sound pleasant. For those of you who’ve tried it, what’s your experience been like?

A Reality Check About How We Use Reddit

I’ve been thinking about how much we, as Redditors, really care about what others think of us. Like, we post stuff, ask for advice, or share opinions, but deep down, it’s not always just about the topic itself. Sometimes, it feels like we’re doing it because we care about how others perceive us.

It’s like we use Reddit as a rehearsal space. We say what we want to say here so we can show up better, less awkward, or even more impressive when it counts out there in the real world.

I don’t know if I’m making sense, but I’ve realized that a lot of us, myself included, sometimes ask things or share stuff not just for advice but to make ourselves feel less embarrassed or even to subtly show off.

Do you feel the same way? Or am I overthinking it?

All of this because of what? School. That is my only conclusion. What are your thoughts and any ideas, plus for exam we have normal 3rd exam + محلى

Not allowed to enter the country with my car with a personalised license plate?

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this, but here goes nothing..

I was born in Europe but have roots in Nador and Al Hoceima. I have been visiting Morocco yearly for close to 30years now. Mainly for family visits but also because I love to visit the places where my parents grew up. Sometimes by car, sometimes by plane. This year (after driving 3000km and taking a ferry) I was not allowed to enter with my car. The reason? I have a personalised license plate with the word “rif” on it. I was literally told to leave the car at the border, enter the country on foot and rent a rental car. I obviously didn’t want to do this and after literally 7hours(!) of almost begging to let me enter with my car and explaining the license plate is just a reference to my roots and NOTHING else I was finally denied a last time and was instructed to either go on without my car or get back on the next boat.. I chose the latter and came back to Europe.

I honestly feel so bad about this whole situation and I want to ask you guys if I’m missing something here.. is this an actual law in Morocco? I still can’t believe I actually was denied access to my own country because of a license plate. I didn’t even mean anything political by it…

Jealousy is killing our country

I lived my whole life in Morocco, currently in Laayoune but mostly in Casa, I have lived to see how people think and analyse the mentality of living out here.

People will literally hate you for no particular reason in this country, you can see it in their eyes, the way they try to make fun of you in-front of friends or family.

Its tiring how everybody wants to be superior and have a personality by putting other on shit ground, I saw some guys hate on a fella because he was wearing clothes that aren’t branded and it just hurts to see this type of thing.

If you confront someone about them being jealous or “m7sad” they wont admit it and just change the subject or say “nta howaaaaa wld lmalik”.

If we want our country to be developed and advance we really need to change ourselves first, the perspective and mentality of society is important to make the country better.
