9 to 5 in Morocco
How the hell did our parents survive working a 9-to-5 in Morocco? I always try to be considerate and unfazed by what social media is feeding us right now (entrepreneurship, trading, e-commerce, and crypto), but I am actually fighting for my life—working five days a week and having only 5 to 6 hours to unwind before sleep.
Did they just accept it as the norm, or did they struggle just as much but chose not to make a great deal about it? What would the future you look like if he chose to keep climbing ladder for the next 10 years? Are we expecting too much from life, or is the 9-to-5 system just outdated? Are we just spoiled and ungrateful?

Accepted into the peace corps Morocco, any advice?
Hey,
I’m an American citizen from Washington / Hawai’i (25 y/o man) who was recently accepted into a position in Morocco. I’ll be leaving in September, but was wondering if you all have any advice for me as to how to prepare for Morocco or what might be a big adjustment. Or just advice in general.
I am extremely excited and can’t wait to be in such a beautiful country but I know that it will be very different from what I am accustomed to lol.
Thanks!

Volunteer Job Opportunities in Morocco & Europe – Any Experiences or Advice?
Hey everyone,
I’m 21 and have a Bachelor of Science in Management with a specialization in Marketing. I’m really interested in volunteer opportunities that involve travel, both in Morocco (with international organizations) and especially in Europe. Has anyone here participated in a volunteer program? How was your experience? Did it help you in terms of skills, career growth, or personal development?
Also, what are the essential requirements to be a strong candidate? Do organizations usually ask for specific qualifications, language skills, or prior experience?
Regarding costs, I’ve seen that some programs in Europe (like European Solidarity Corps) offer free volunteering with covered expenses, while others charge fees , depending on the location, duration, and what’s included (housing, food, insurance, etc.). Some also provide grants or stipends.
Would love to hear from anyone who has done this or has any recommendations! Thanks in advance.

Living alone as a girl in Morocco
So recently I made the decision to move out of my parents house and go to another city to live alone. I'm 24 and I lived away from home for 3 years when I was in university but I had roommates then and my parents were funding me financially.
My parents are lovely people, but they can be very toxic. I don't wanna get into too much details but when I was young they used to be very abusive. Both physically and emotionally. I developed borderline personality disorder and misophonia, and I've been taking psychiatric medications for years. I can't live properly without meds.
I forgave them for everything, it's their first time living too. But since last October, I started an online business and it got very successful. I started helping my parents financially and buying them things or paying for a few bills. But recently they started exploiting me. They keep demanding for money and they don't even say thank you. They act like I'm not doing enough. The other day they stole money from me and refused to admit. When I confronted them they started acting defensive and almost yelling to try and shut me up. So I just let it slide. It wasn't the first time they stole money from me btw.
They constantly interrupt me when im working, and they ask me to clean or do the dishes even tho I'm obviously very busy. They're so loud and they don't let me rest at night. Not to mention the house is always dirty and I hate that so much, I just lock myself in my bedroom so that I don't have to deal with that horrible view.
I'm somewhat financially stable now. And I feel like I will never grow if I keep living with my parents. I'm constantly reminded of childhood wounds that they inflicted on me. And now they are exploiting me financially as well.
I'm just venting really, I already made up my mind about moving out (I found an apartment and I'm leaving in 5 days). But what do you guys think? Any advice or something you wanna tell me?
I don't have friends so there's no one to advise me or listen to me. So I'm open to what y'all have to say 🫶🏻

The Fear of Regret: How Do You Know If You’re Making the Right Life Choices?
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we make major life decisions choosing a career, moving to a new place, ending or committing to a relationship, etc. The problem is, there’s no way to know if we’re making the right choice until we experience the consequences. And by then, it might be too late to turn back.
How do you deal with the fear of making the wrong choice? Do you trust logic, gut feelings, or something else? Have you ever made a decision you regretted, or do you think regret is just a part of life?
I’d love to hear how others navigate this, especially those who have made big life changes. How do you stop overthinking and actually move forward?

Half Moroccan but my dad never taught me darija
Hi I just wanted some opinions,...my dad was born in Marrakech, Morocco and speaks English, French, and Darija. My mom is Venezuelan but I'm from Texas, USA.
I've felt bad for a long time as I got to know my culture after my dad took me to Morocco couple times but I only know English since my parents never really spoke to me in their language growing up because they "didn't want to confuse me."
With that being said I feel like there's a big gap culturally when I go to Morocco, although I look moroccan (my family always says it) but my darija is elementary and it makes me feel almost embarrassed.
I'm trying to learn Darija as much as I can but I get busy with University and life in America, but not knowing the language makes me feel disconnected like im not really "moroccan" even though my dad says I am. I want to truly be moroccan but I feel like a fake only knowing english😂

Moroccan devs. I needed your help
Long story short: I’m a first year student who had been engaged with a company for an internship and potential job through my school since the middle of the year. However, typical Moroccan management, my school decided to wait three months Just before my internship to inform me that they’re rejecting it because it doesn’t fully align with our curriculum.
Now, I’m urgently looking for a PHP/Laravel internship for my PFA from May to June. If anyone can help me find an opportunity, I’d greatly appreciate it!
I'm using all social media and websites to look for an opportunity

Loneliness in the moroccan society
I noticed that loneliness among adults became so common in the moroccan society in the recent years, although we were raised to be socials due to our cultural background, which was based solely on family and being friendly with everyone. Now, everyone is curled up to their own space, i don't want to generalize but i see most people struggle to find friends, partners, no one wants to get married anymore, no one wants to make efforts anymore. Talking from a personal experience, as an adult in a big city in morocco, i struggle to find friends, and in the same time i can't go out alone with no purpose, i tried going out alone and meet people but it's really hard, & i am against using apps, so it's hard for me to find friends or even a partner. On another note, the fact that the rate of fertility is dropping and the lack of desire to give birth is still increasing is really concerning. What Do you think about this?

Iraqi / Moroccan, thinking about moving to Morocco
Hi everyone, i’m (31 M) half Iraqi from my fathers side and half Moroccan from my mothers side. I have lived all my childhood in Morocco, studied there and still have family and friends there. I moved to Iraq with my family 16 years ago when i was 15, finished my education here and worked in several fields since then. Now i’m married and i have one child (boy). Lately i started thinking about moving back to Morocco with my spouse and son. The reason behind that is that the economic situation here is getting very bad plus all the other major factors like the unstable security, lack of basic ways of life (electricity, water, bad roads, etc. ), government corruption, the suffocating bureaucracy, bad education systems for our kids, constant civil disputes, very high costs of living, corrupt legal system. So my question here, do you think it’s a good idea to move to Morocco and will i be able to find a job that can support me and my family (I don’t seek a lavish life)? FYI, i have a bachelor’s degree in English translation and have 10+ years in administrative and managing fields and also i have experience in En-Ar interpretation as i worked with the US Military as a linguist for 2 years.
Thank you all in advance.

Struggling with Procrastination? Let’s Study Together!
Hey everyone,
I’ve noticed that a lot of us here in Morocco (and everywhere, really) struggle with procrastination when it comes to studying or working on personal projects. It’s so easy to get distracted or lose motivation, especially when you’re studying alone.
That’s why I started "Study With Me" live streams on YouTube. I’m in my final year of architecture, and I stream myself studying for 6 to 10 hours daily, using the 1-hour focus / 10-minute break method. It’s a great way to stay productive without burning out, and it helps create a sense of accountability.
Whether you’re preparing for exams, working on a project, or just need a structured study environment, you’re welcome to join. Let’s build a Moroccan study community where we can support each other and beat procrastination together!
Here’s the link: StudywithMahdi-f5k">www.youtube.com/@StudywithMahdi-f5k
If you’ve been putting off studying or just need a little push to get started, come join me. Let’s get things done!

Is anyone else tired of this?
Salam khuti ou khwatati,
I’m honestly so tired of seeing this whole Amazigh vs. Arab debate in Morocco. It’s like people can’t just be Moroccan anymore we always have to put a label on everything. Instead of embracing our shared history, we’re out here acting like we’re two separate nations.
And let’s be real, a lot of this division is fueled by social media and Western ideologies that keep pushing this idea of "decolonization" in a way that just doesn’t fit our reality. Morocco isn’t some foreign colonizer occupying Amazigh lands, our history is way more complex than that. We’ve been mixed for centuries, and trying to rewrite that history to fit a modern political agenda is just creating more division.
At the end of the day, Morocco is for Moroccans. Instead of wasting energy fighting over labels, we should be focusing on building a stronger, more united country. Enough with this imported mindset that’s making us see our own people as enemies.
