What's the fastest LEGAL way to hit 7 figures in Morocco?

Let's assume you live in a big city in Morocco (Rabat, for example) with fixed monthly expenses of around 4000 DH, this budget is meant to cover your basic needs even if you have a small family.

I've been calculating how long it would take different professionals to save 1 million MAD, using salaries from the official salary simulator:

\- A new high school teacher making 7600 DH monthly could save 3600 DH per month (after expenses), reaching 1 million in almost 23 years (assuming no salary increases).

\- A police officer earning 8100 DH monthly could save 4100 DH per month, reaching 1 million in about 20 years.

\- A nursing assistant making 8600 DH monthly could save 4600 DH per month, reaching 1 million in about 18 years.

\- A freshly recruited university assistant professor earning 17000 DH monthly could save 13000 DH per month, reaching 1 million in about 6.5 years.

\- The former head of government with a pension of 70000 DH could reach 1 million in just 15 months.

These timelines feel really long for average professionals. So I'm curious: what do you think is the most reliable and legal way to make your first 1 million MAD in Morocco within a reasonable timeframe? Have you heard of or found strategies that work better than just saving from a salary?

My father got scammed. They took all his real estate.

Hi everyone,

Business people approached my father 15 years ago to build a real estate project on his (our family) farm. They promised they would build a huge project etc etc. He was old and naive and he signed contracts he did not fully understand, assigning the ownership of the farm to their new business venture.

It's been 15 years and obviously the project never happened. You know how it goes: everyone wants to eat, and somehow today those people (and other parasites) are trying to take full ownership of the farm, and even our own house.

My father is now even older, and it ruined the last 15 years for him and our family. What can anybody do against those people? My father is not going to sue them at this age. It makes no sense to trust the system that took from you in the first place to apply justice right?

He just wants peace. Our family has accepted that we lost everything, we just don't want anything to do with this whole story anymore.

How can I avoid the tourist tax? Will learning Darija help?

I've been here for 3 weeks (I'm obviously foreign) and I'm still getting the hang of the prices, but the sellers really are trying to squeeze every penny out of us every time.. I don't have a big luxurious European salary like they assume either

At the Souk:

\- Quoted 300dh(!!) for 3 small towels. In Europe I can get a pack of 2 towels for €5...

\- Went to metals repair shop to buy second-hand pot and coffee press. He ignored me asking for price and started repairing the pot. So he repaired it without settling price first, then quoted me 360dh. I can get these brand new for the same price. Settled on 200

\- At the used clothes section, I was quoted 50dh again for an *OLD* towel 2 times. Tattered, stained, & ancient towels. Ended up getting some really cheap ones for 8dh (but even then he put some made up numbers in the calculator, despite the signage)

At the grocery store:

\- Kid behind the counter doesn't even look at the items, just on his phone, puts some numbers in the calculator. My partner comes home with 3kg bag of rice and 1 can of peas for 130dh.. Is this inflation?

\- They just eyeball the produce, not weighing them. I can somehow never pay less than 80dh, like for a big water, 2 tomatoes and 1 avocado for example.

\- Edited to add: 195dh for a cheap Chinese unbranded sunscreen. These are crazy prices.

I'm in Tamraght near Agadir, so no big store, just a small H'kid but at least the prices are displayed

Are there some phrases I should learn to help? Apart from numbers (I'm on it, but it's difficult)

TL;DR I feel like I'm getting over charged everywhere I go because of 'tourist tax' cos I'm a foreigner, but I also have very little income. Are there some helpful phrases I should learn to get the correct price? What's my frame of reference? Should I ask my Moroccan friends to come with me next time?

New skater from casa here

yo what’s up i’m a guy from casa just starting to get into skating and ngl it’s kinda tough finding good spots to practice most places are either too crowded or just not smooth enough to really learn properly. i’m trying to get better, but it’s hard when you don’t know where to go or who to ask.
Are there any skaters here from casa who know the best places to train? like, where do y’all usually hang out, practice tricks, or just vibe? i’m also looking to connect with the local skate community, so if there are any skate parks, hidden spots, or even events where skaters link up, let me know. Any advice is appreciated whether it’s about improving my skills, finding the best places to skate, or how to meet other skaters. tryna learn, get better, and be part of the scene, so hit me up with anything that could help

Morocco WORST education

Morocco has been ranked 154th out of 210 and people are confused and mad, but here is my opinion, the fact that we are paying over 3600 dirhams for the bare minimum at schools is f ed up. Literally 3600 for highschool, and we didnt even have proper P.E, no nurse, no computer science even tho we got brand new computers, no access to the library, no meds in case there was an emergency, the datashow are all broken or some shit, no LABS, no access to the dance room we used it only once in 8th grade, no access to the media room bcs they are not willing to clean it, no access to the art room. wth even public schools got some of these, the school is too disorganized and they make big decisions spontaneously without the information of anybody not even the staff nor the teachers, we only had one outing this year and the price is always like 350 dirhams per person for a place that only costs 70 dirhams for access, they say it is for gas, BITCH dont play with a whole month of the school bus only costs 600 dirhams how is one time 300 dirhams lke the math isnt mathing, also, they came up to us and told us there was an art conquest, they didnt tell us what format, what theme, what style. but when I knew, I spent lots of efforts and I was sure of winning cuz well the others on social media looked mid, sorry btw Im just angry, WHEN THE DUE DATE WAS LIKE THE NEXT DAY. WTFFFF. The FOOD at the CANTEEN, which is I think 35dirhams maybe, Its DISUGSTING, no taste, NOT ENOUGH even my classmate that doesnt eat AT ALL said it wasnt enough and many ppl said that and they are not willing to complain, and thats what gets me all the time, we have our rights and they lterally stole them from us, our teachers keep saying well your parents spend money so that you learn. WELL NO SHIT SHERLOCK youve been giving us a lecture for every single class!!! and learning is not only about subjects yk. So basically all that money goes into the owners pocket. and I am left with no purpose, no motivation, and a hate for school and the whole education system. 154th in the whole world, serves you right bitches. Schools in other countries are PUBLIC and like a 100 times better than the schools that you pay at least 2000 dirhams for. make it make sense Morocco. Im tired of studying for 8 hours 5 times a week the same things over and over again that I dont even give a fuck abt and in the cases I do someone ruins it. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE learning and Im probably the most curious person in this whole school and yet they manage to make me disinterested. ALSO, in elementary school, they hit us and the whole population of Morocco, some of these teachers are IGNORANT, no ability to think critically, respect others, just pure indoctrination and stupidity. Imagine a teacher saying, women dont have the right to go out without permission in 2024, imagine the same teacher having a the equivalent of a phD, imagine another teacher having also a doctorat and he cant even form a solid sentence with proper pronounciation, I could teach some of these subjects better ngl.

Why Is French More Common Among the Wealthy in Rabat & Casablanca?

I’ve noticed something interesting when traveling around Morocco. In cities like Rabat and Casablanca, especially among the bourgeoisie, people often default to French when speaking. It feels like a status symbol, something tied to social class and maybe even a colonial legacy. But in other cities like Nador, Agadir, Tetouan, and Tangier, even wealthy people speak in Darija (or sometimes Amazigh depending on the region).

My friends dont know common conflicts in Morocco... is that normal?

Born raised in europe and all my moroccan friends dont know a thing about common things in Morocco...

Recently we were speaking about sahara and he did not even know who polisario is and what's happening down there... it was as if they saw the sahara for the first time. even that algeria is supporting them was a big surprise..

Funny thing is that even though I tried to educate them, they did not seem to care... but they are all screaming for palestine and amazigh stuff...

How can your own country conflicts and history not matter? Is this also more common among amazigh in morocco?

Sisters and Brothers, Please Allow Me to Vent!

Firstly, I am Algerian and blocked on stupid r/Algeria because I speak my mind; I am not surprised there.

I have heard some TikTok lives recently between Moroccans and Algerians, and most of what Algerians do is curse! Please understand that we are victims of a system that turned most of us into aggressive, barbaric animals like that with so much propaganda and nothing to show for when it comes to education, health, or justice in the land.

Algeria is filthy, trash everywhere, water comes once in a blue moon, our hospitals are dirty, schools outdated, people curse and fight all the time, everyone smokes from stress, road conditions are disgusting, lines at the gas pump, fatal crashes every day, electricity cuts all the time, multiple families in small apartment, gangs everywhere, the minimum wage is $80/month, no car parts, nothing comes from Europe, everything we receive is the cheapest and lowest choice from china, which breaks after a week. And recently, they discovered that most stolen phones in the world end up in Algeria. I am so sick and ashamed of calling myself an Algerian.

I wish we could one day become % five like Morocco and Moroccans in our life philosophy of seeking education and opportunities no matter how difficult the situation is.

Lastly, it saddens me so much to notice Moroccan’s patience has ran out with our stupid government and Algerians’ behavior towards them, and they are starting to fight fire with fire, rightfully so.

Having you as neighbors is a blessing, but ignorance is just taking us straight to a concrete wall.

What is even worst, I am only able to have this reflection and self assessment because I lived abroad and worked on myself for twenty years, which show how deep the brainwashing is!

High status jobs for women?

Some examples of high status jobs: CEO,, lawyer, doctor, engineer, judge etc..

When it comes to men, status is something that people are concerned about. ( Rajl ki3ibo gher Jibo and first thing ppl ask for is: fact 5dam?) But women not so much? Or maybe I got it wrong and I been exposed to lots of red pilled people. But generally it’s not expected from women to provide as much as it is expected from men. In my own personal experience when a guy finds out you study for a high status job or you have a high status job they either:

- Drop you/ y7ta9rok ( cuz you’re too good for them and they think you won’t respect them)

- Love it and they glaze you ( which I don’t get the purpose of it, like it’s just a job get over it)

They rarely have a neutral position about it.
So I’m confused, most of us study cuz we don’t have another option. Yet some people will see less value in that and others will see more value in that.
