Arrived in Meknès

Yesterday I arrived in Meknès, me and my mom were looking for an apartment to buy so we can finally have a home we can call ours, we came from Tanger were we also looked for an apartment but everything was too expensive. To my surprise the weather here in Meknès was a shock to me after living in Tanger for a while, we got out the train and my mother asked around to find out how life here is, the taxi driver we got said there's no jobs here, people are struggling, if you want to settle here you need to start your own business and that we should go back to Tanger, this was enough for me to say "yikes mom we need to go back even if the apartments are pricey and we won't have money left to buy furniture at least we might find a job" after that he took us to 2 apartments that we wanted to check out and charged us 200 dhiram for the ride (daylight robbery) that were the cheapest we could find(20k euro) the first one was in a dirty area, people threw their garbage on the street and it smelled like wet cigarettes just outside the front door so I was immediately "nah I'm good on this one" even tho the apartments itself on the inside was decent for the price, 3 rooms 2 bathrooms 60 something meters, so then we go to the second apartment a little further like 5 -10 minutes away and it's completely different, it's like going from the ghetto neighbourhood to the suburbs and the apartment is the same price pretty much the same 60-66 sqmeters 3 bedroom 2 bathrooms its more open and the light from the outside gets in better, has a small balcony everything about it was just so much better don't get me wrong it had its cons too but nothing major , only a crazy person would not buy this one. Now I'm at my aunt's house in taoujdate contemplating with my mom weather we should move to Meknès in that apartment and what the future would look like for us there, me a non darija speaker, half Moroccan with no education or degrees and my mom who also went through her life dependening on her husband who no longer is in the picture. Any suggestions/advice is welcomed!

My Wake-Up Call: 150 Kg, No Confidence, No Life — Until Reality Hit Me Hard

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my story because I know how hard it is to start changing when you feel stuck.

Back in 2017, I was a high schooler who played video games obsessively — 7 to 8 hours a day. I ignored studies, social life, and my health. By 2018, I weighed 140 kg at just 16 years old. Then came 2019 and the COVID lockdown, which made things worse — no school, no responsibilities, just gaming and eating. I reached 150 kg.

One day, after hours in front of the computer, I had a heart scare — I could barely breathe. Doctors told me my liver was full of fat, my cholesterol was high, and my heart rhythm was unstable. That was my wake-up call.

I realized I had to change — not just my body but my whole life. It’s been a tough journey, but I’m sharing it openly to help others who might feel lost.

This is just the beginning. If you want to read the full story and follow my progress, let me know

Thanks for reading, and I’m happy to answer any questions.

Note : now am 115kg ,confident, better shape , better lifestyle , and healthier life

Is it just me or depression is taking over everyone especially at the moment?

Hello world, I'm getting to the point of my life where I can feel this weird chronic depression taking over my life, I don't really enjoy anything anymore, life's boring, no friends, overwhelming family, no event feel good anymore. I have some hobbies but I caaaan't, I lost passion and it's getting worse everyday.
I know many of you are experiencing the same thing, especially early mid 20s, and apparently it's even more disgusting when you hit older ages. Why does our generation have that much of mental health problems?, last ones didn't care much about them and yet lived the best they could (not everybody of course).
Is there any unknown / secret cure to this or do I / we just have to life like soulless zombies ?
Not asking for anything though, I just wanted to cry out to the world.

Why do vendors still use Riyal😭

Genuinely why do some vendors still say prices in Riyal? It sounds much easier for both parties to just say in Dirham from the start. Is it like a test to see if you're really Moroccan or what?

Boycott for #FREEPALESTINE

The boycott is not just a political stand — it’s a humanitarian and religious responsibility. Supporting companies that back the occupation, even indirectly, makes us part of the injustice.
On the Day of Judgment, we’ll be asked about our choices — big and small. Even if we can’t avoid everything, doing our best counts. Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.
It’s time to wake up. Every small action matters.
✌🏼🇵🇸

Edit: I do not want to insult anyone, whether they are religious or not.

Morocco doesn’t have a development problem, it has a civility problem

We can build the best roads, stadiums, tram lines and airports but none of it will matter if basic civility is missing.

I love this country but every day I see things that make me shake my head. People run red lights like it’s a suggestion. Trash gets thrown next to empty bins. Constant honking for no reason. No lines in public offices, everyone pushing to get ahead. Taxis overcharging without shame. Kids yelling and throwing things on buses while their parents laugh.

And the worst part is that it’s getting worse. Especially in cities where rural migration is high. Many come with no intention of adapting to city life. They bring village habits into urban environments and think it’s normal.

We talk about Morocco’s image, about hosting the World Cup in 2030, about promoting tourism but image starts with behavior in the streets.

Infrastructure is easy. Mindset is the real challenge.

Need advice on what to do!

Hi everyone, I need your advice on this situation:

So I live in an apartment building, and all the residents here are to pay around 120 dhs a month for the 3sas that guards our building, the cleaning lady that comes a few times a week to mop the stairs, etc. But we have run into an issue: multiple residents don't want to pay the fee and are finding excuses to not pay. As a result, there is not enough money to pay those who guard our buildings and the lady that cleans the stairs.

The building held a meeting to discuss this issue, and before the meeting they threatened to remove these services such as the 3sas and cleaning lady that the tenants enjoy without paying. Mind you, these tenants are finding lousy excuses to not pay: they have the money but will come with lame excuses such as "there is a tree in the way of my window so because of this
'inconvenience, we won't pay." I also think we have some diaspora who live in our building that make late payments, but ultimately the main problem is the ones that live here year round and are finding stupid excuses to not pay. Despite gathering the building for a meeting and threatening to remove the 3sas and cleaning lady, these tenants refused to pay which is really infuriating.

Because of this, we now have no 3sas and no cleaning lady. The garbage is overflowing in the front door, the stairs are disgusting, no one guards our building, and no one seems to care.
There was a suggestion by some to increase the amount that those who pay are paying so that the building can still have maintenance, but many have called that unfair because why should the cost be increased because of some horrible people who refuse to pay, but there's also the issue that some people can only pay 120 dhs and not more. Increasing the cost would be a burden on those who can't pay more than that.

What would you guys do in this situation? I need some advice because this situation is unacceptable, and those of us who actually care and are paying are suffering the consequences of a few who refuse to pay.
