Driving Taghazout to Marrakech at night and Imli in day?
So a friends birthday is in October and she wants to go to Taghazout for a day trip and maybe Imli. I was thinking we could drive. I can drive, take a taxi or bus. Bus is easiest option, Taxi is not as cheap. I like the idea of driving since I have driven in a few countrys.
If I drive in the day am I right in thinking few or no police checks and even if there are there wont or should not be any issues of a foreigner and a local female in the car? At night its more likely to be a problem? If a problem what do thay usually look at? how your dressed or whats the main reason for them to stop and hassle?
Also are the roads to Imli easy to drive or not like the highway and unpaved?

I don't know what I should do
Hello everyone,
I would like to ask for your advice regarding my situation. I am a girl from a poor family and have gone through a lot just to complete my education. I even dropped out of school at one point due to my financial situation. During my teenage years, the thing that kept me going was the hope that my suffering would end once I finished my studies.
I obtained my high school diploma and went on to study Economics at university, from which I graduated. However, after all that effort, I have faced a harsh reality: despite my many attempts, I have found myself without a job.The reason for this is my French language skills.
Honestly, I am very sad. A time when I wasn't comparing myself to others, I now find myself comparing my fate with the fates of others, and I know this is wrong. I always find myself comparing my luck with that of my cousin and my friends who didn't make any effort but married wealthy men, which changed their lives. My life has stopped progressing since 2020.
I don't know what I should do or how to strengthen myself or be patient.

I hope Morocco becomes developed in my lifetime
The majority of the people here are young, which means that, if nothing happens to us (inshallah), we will be alive some decades to see what this country turns out to be.
I really hope that, at least, we become a middle income country (like Turkey, Poland or Uruguay), where the healthcare system is affordable, the quantity of slums reduces, the educational system makes people civilized, the corruption reduces...
We don't have oil like the Gulf states, so it will be really hard to achieve that level of improvement (I am really pessimist about it).

are top uni degrees still worth it in Morocco?
so the job market is a total mess in Morocco rn, barely any opps, inflation is making life hard even for upper middle class, it's almost impossible to own a house or buy a car with an average/above-average salary, university grads remain jobless for at least 1-1.5 years only to land a job that pays 6000-10,000 dh while they invested tons of money to get a degree.
I personally do not think it's a good idea anymore to invest money in children education because looking at how things have evolved, I would rather save money to set up a business for my children in case they do not manage to land a good job using the same funds I would use to pay for their education.
wondering what y'all think

pretty places with pretty names
If you could choose a city to spend your last moments in, one with beautiful weather and nature, what city would it be? I finally have the courage to do it.But Who tf would want to be dead and have his last moments spent in a place called Sbt Lkrdan or Jamaat Rhamna or biougra!!!? At least you would want your final moments to be in a breathtaking city, surrounded by stunning nature, with an elegant name.
Any recommendations?

Should I stay in France or study in UIR (Université Internationale de Rabat)?
I am a 18 M and I managed to suceed my first year in Lille Uni ( french public uni) in Economics and Management. The problem is that I found that Law was really my most prefered domain and I really didnt like living in France. UIR give a licence in law and is pretty much well ranked in Morocco/Africa despite not being a very selective school because it is a private one (expensive annual fees). I got accepted in UIR but I am afraid that the diploma I will get will not be recognized abroad if I want to move back for instance in France for a master. I can also decide to stay in Morocco in order to become a morrocan lawyer ( I dont have a problem with studying classical arabic). Do you know people who studied in UIR, is there opportunity for abroad, and what do you think is the most interesting choice for me?

Noisy workers on new apartment building
My parents have moved in a new apartment a few months ago in a building consisting of 7 floors that only has 4 apartments that were bought, the neighbours are very nice and respectful but the workers (femme de ménage + sécurité) are loud. We hear them speaking and using tally walkies from 8 am and also in the afternoon, they only stop around 4 pm, this was confirmed when I visit them and it bothers my parents because they don't feel they are enjoying any privacy with that behaviour.
They act as if they own the building, we spoke to them and I even had a big fight with a security guy that started shouting and saying I'm going to go to jail stuff like that, then we reported this to the guy that manages the sales in this building, it became considerably quieter after that but now it looks like they are back at it again.
I really try to convince myself and my parents that may be that's normal and may be we are overreacting but when we think about it again it's just so clear this behaviour is done on purpose in order to annoy us and assert dominance like animals do.
What can be done to stop this and should we go to the owner and report this to him?
Oh and one time when my parents have just moved in, we just came home with our stuff and we found the elevators not working and they told us it broke down and it won't work until after 3 days because it was Saturday, that would have been impossible because the apartment is on the 6th floor, so my father called the owner and he ordered a technician to come and turn it on again.
What can be done in this situation, because I have never seen this anywhere before.

How do friendships typically form across different age groups and age ranges? For example, is it common in Morocco for a 30-year-old to befriend a 60-year-old ?
Saw someone who’s 30 befriending and hanging out regularly with a 60 years old, and some people found that weird, but I believe it would be normal in other places (although unusual even in those places).

How do Morrocan feel about Guadeloupeans?
I am from Guadeloupe, a Caribbean island colonized by France and still governed as an "outre-mer" department under French rule. It is also part of the European Union. I converted to Islam with the help of a Moroccan friend and am curious about the general perceptions Moroccans might have of Guadeloupe. Do they have any specific feelings or opinions about the island?

How do Moroccan feel about polygamy ?
I would to know what the trend is when it comes to polygamy in the Moroccan community. By this I mean if people and family accepts it, hate it, discourage it. Do you know any case of it at all? What were the circumstances ? Do you think Morrocan living in Europe are more open to it than Morrocan back home?

Cultural differences???
I'm in Morocco for a year while my husband is finishing up studying Arabic. We are with a host family for 8 weeks and are half way done.
I have tried my hardest to be kind and stay out of the way and be grateful but I am actually going crazy. I have a son that's a little under 2. This may be my first child but I am the oldest daughter of a large family so I know how to work with children. I also have stayed at home his entire life raising him so it's not like this is something I have never done before.
Everything I do for him is wrong. When I put him to bed, how I redirect him, how he is too rambunctious, how he doesn't like being kissed all the time, etc. He shows a preference for his left hand, she tries to correct him by taking the fork out of his left hand and trying to force him to eat with his right. Everything comes back on me. It's not just things related to him. I can't even eat anything correctly. She will stop me to tell me how to rip bread or how to eat chicken exactly the same way I'm already doing it. She tries to tell me that the reason I'm getting sick is because of the fan we bought. (It's definitely not from a lack of food safety and that she never washes her hands)
I'm going nuts because I have never been treated like this in my life. My own parents and grandparents have never undermined my parenting and my personal autonomy so much. And that says a lot because I had strict parents.
The only way to get out of it is to hide away cooped up in our tiny little room that's so much hotter than the rest of the house. It's too hot outside for me to really get out during the day.
Is it normal for older women here to be incredibly overbearing???
Is it just because I'm a mom? She doesn't behave this way as much towards my husband.
How do I navigate a situation like this??
Important note: she speaks very little English and I pick up a decent amount of Arabic/French from speaking Spanish. I'm learning a little bit of Arabic at a time

French-speaking American woman looking into moving to Morocco
Hi! I'm a single 31 year-old American woman considering moving to Morocco if the political situation in the US gets crazy.
I'm considering Morocco because:
* I visited Morocco 10 years ago, and it's one of the few countries I've ever been to where people were HAPPY to learn I'm Jewish lol (I don't support Israel)
* I speak/read French relatively well
* Europe is antisemitic and seems a bit hostile to immigrants right now
* Morocco doesn't seem to be angering Russia, China, or the US
* People were chill
I'm preparing to take the DALF, which certifies me at C1 level of French for life, and otherwise solidify my French so I could become a French teacher, work for a Francophone company, or work in tourism. I have restaurant experience, and currently work in communications (think blog writing/social media) for a nonprofit.
Does this plan seem plausible? What cities might be the best to move to given my skills/single status? What aspects am I not taking into account?
Thanks!
