Is something wrong with me or with people?
I went to the theater this weekend for a Gnawa concert with Al Kasri. The night started off wonderfully, and the group was performing magical sounds. However, after a few songs, people began dancing. I don’t mind dancing, but I wish they could have done it from their seats. With so many people standing, I could no longer see the group from my spot in the fourth row, and it became difficult to enjoy the music with the audience singing along. Since it was a theater, I expected people to behave differently. I ended up leaving early because I was frustrated and couldn’t fully enjoy the performance.

Family structure, society and ideology
The subject of family structures is extremely interesting, Emmanuel Todd is a pioneer in this field. It analyzes the links between the family structure of a society and the political and ideological developments of the said society. According to him, there are 8 main types of families, The absolute nuclear family with children who leave their parents very early and where the testatement for inheritance is the norm, there is an indifference to equality of inheritance. This is the type of structure typical of the Anglo-Saxon world, according to this theory it explains why liberal democracy would have been born in this society with an inegalitarian and libertarian bent. The second type of nuclear family is the egalitarian type that is very present in the Paris basin, the parent-child bond is a little stronger and equality of inheritance between boys is the norm. It was in this area that the French Revolution and liberal and socialist democracy were born. I'll let you discover the others. Muslim world have a communitary and endogamous type, even before the birth of islam. Probably environment determine type of family. I tend to think that Liberal democraty or liberal feminism as conceptualized in West will be very hard to apply in our society.

Any kids shows in darija that will help me learn it faster and better?
I am learning darija right now and I'm struggling with pronunciation and have a limited grasp of words. I'm wondering if there are any kid's shows in darija that are a little slower and more guided. They dont have to be kids shows either they can be regular shows, I just have a really hard time understanding the regular shows with their range of vocabulary.

I miss Hicham El Guerrouj
Today as I was watching the 1500m race , the race where we are supposed to dominate. I became very nostalgic.
I realized how much I missed Hicham El Guerrouj, a symbol of excellence and a model for all Moroccans.
Yes we have athletes like Hakimi, but Hicham is a pure Moroccan product, he was born , raised and trained in Morocco and made it to the top of the world with his own hard work and discipline.
I still remember as a kid when he won back to back gold in Athens like it was last week. A real national treasure.

So, I stayed in a wonderful place outside of Marrakesh. The host, who has incredible cooking skills, served me a dish called Seffa Medfouna.
Who in the world came up with this dish? It’s the most amazing thing my American taste buds have ever experienced.
I can’t even begin to describe the incredible flavors of this dish, but I devoured it!
