How we can overcome our actual situation

Now that Bakkali saved our dignity, may be it's time to talk about the real issues surrounding sports in Morocco, how we can explain that a country with at least 37 million people, plus Moroccan living in other countries can't have some decent athletes in different sport like judo, basketball, weight lifting, like we only focusing on football and waiting for other sports that some random country gives us champions, for exemple I don't know lot about skating but in Rabat you have many young people who skate on daily basis in mahaj and before in spot jam3 sunnah, or people practicing judo or rugby? Morocco deserve a better ranking on those Olympics!

LARAM is like a bus

Traveling by Royal Air Du Maroc, is basically like traveling by a bus from Nador to Tetouan. I came back to Morocco from Malaysia, so I had two flights, first one was with Malaysian Airlines, no complaints.

I had a transit in Doha, which was thankfully just 2 hours, then I had a 7h30 flight from there to Casa. The plane was disgusting to put it simply. It was dirty af and I wish I was exaggerating. The tray where you put the food was still WET and smelled like shit. Wach mss7oh b chi le3ba w manchefch, made the smell even worse.

The people, my god the people. Where do I even begin? Yalah rkbna f tiyara, and then FIRST thing I hear, “Zerbi zerbi ela dik lblassa”. Now i’m confused, you in an airplane, kifach zerbi ela dik blassa? Turns out it wasn’t just a one off situation, literally EVERYONE is just sitting wherever the fuck they want. A family of 4 9et3o mfer9in w bdaw kaychkiw and took someone else’s place. Haduk li daw blassa of some other dude, mli ja galulih, ewa safi hadi blasstk? Wa ha sit glss f blasstna hna. ???

I wish I was joking but it just kept on getting worse. The smell had me rethinking my life’s decisions. Khuna li glss hdaya yarbi tssm7li wa7d ri7a… worst part is, I was in the isle he was in the window w middle seat was empty. (Apparently window is not his seat, zreb l chi we7da ela blasstha and she didn’t want to sit next to him so she left elsewhere) ma3lina so the middle seat b9a khawi. Tiyara ma jat dir depart ta khuna la7 rjlih jiht serjm w la7 rasso lendi. I shit you not, His head was literally on my fucking thigh.

I thought the air hostess would say something, heh, galihum: “Khuti ha khliwna nssaliw embarquement w diro li bghito”

Overall, one of the shitiest flights I’ve ever been on.

Tipping amounts in everyday life

Hello there,

I've been in Morocco for a couple of years and still struggle with the tipping/bakchich (?) culture of what you're supposed to give for a couple of things.

Here is what I currently tip:
- gas: nothing unless the guy cleans my windshield, 5 dhs to 10 dhs in that case
- food delivery : 10 to 20 dhs cash (not through the app)
- restaurant: nothing unless it's a nice restaurant and/or the service was very good, 20 dhs to 100 dhs depending on the bill and/or the party size
- butagaz guy: 10 dhs to 20 dhs (he installs it)

Things I don't really know how to tip:
- actual delivery service of things like water, or groceries
- maintenance guy in my appartment building doing extra stuff like helping move our stuff, fix something like a non working doorknob or similar

I can definitely "afford" to tip, but I'm genuinely curious as to what would be considered a "normal to good" tip for this kind of stuff?

TIA

Edits to make it clear: we're in Casa and live and work here, not in Marrakech as tourists, in which case the answers will probably be different (though they shouldn't lol)

I recently heard than Moroccans would spend thousands of dirhams to obtain Schengen visa rendez-vous.

Hello fellows 👋.

According to an article of le 360 (https://fr.le360.ma/societe/visas-schengen-au-marche-noir-le-prix-des-rendez-vous-atteint-10000-dirhams_BXT4AR4M7BEC7NDBHI2OYCZLKQ/) Moroccans spend crazy amounts of money just in order to obtain a so called rendez-vous. And the most insane part is that obtaining a rendez-vous does not even guarantee a Visa. Personally I think we should be ashamed of the situation. I get the fact that Europe can be attractive as a touristic spot but come on. If they're not even willing to put in the efforts to facilitate rendezvous' obtention, I think we should tell ourselves f*ck off, there are plenty other beautiful countries to visit!
Tell me what you guys think about that.

Father abuse case PLEASE HELP!!

Sorry for the negativity. My father has been treating my mother badly and kicked her out after over 20 years of marriage(with 3 other girls 2 of them are 9 and 11 yo with a health condition ). For the reason of my internship, I stayed with him, but now he’s threatening to kick me out as well (plus m3your and sometimes 3ssa). I’m a 20-year-old male, studying at a university in another city with hard engineering program( 2 years left to graduate with EE degree), and I need money for living and rent.

I went to the police station to file a report, but they told me that I couldn’t file a complaint because I’m not a minor (under 18) and also said I was "meskhout" without knowing the full circumstances.
WHAT DO I DO PLEASE HELP?

*are there are any really good lawyers for these cases
please feel free to ask any questions

Is the education system failing us? Thread (posted this as a comment in the previous thread about the education system)

I noticed that every single comment is blaming a specific entity (Government, Teachers, Students, maybe the language too or the curriculum) and you are right.

But let's not forget that education is a collective/collaborative system. Everyone must be involved and do his part the way it should be done. Otherwise even if the gov will invest millions of dollars, it will not change the outcome that much.

1- Education starts at home. Good parenting is essential both parents must be prepared to take this responsibility and teach their kids the basics and good manners at first . Parents should be prepared to become parents in the first place. They play a critical, if not the most important role in this equation. One of the parents should have basic knowledge to help his kids and motivate them + follow their learning journey.

2- Government: create a good infrastructure meaning schools which have basic clean facilities including libraries, school activities, and so on. Invest in human capital by allowing teachers and offering them learning opportunities such as participating in international education summits and exchanging with international teachers.. + Reform of educational program in order to follow modern learning approaches. Let's not forget improving salaries because of inflation. As for higher education, this needs a massive investment. A lot of talented students can't get in because of the quota which is directly affected by the lack of superior education institutions.
We need a real investment in research and science.

3- Teachers: must learn more pedagogical techniques and not apply the old method of fear mongering and punishment like the older generations. They have to choose this teaching path only if it is something that inspires them but let's be honest sometimes it is the only valid option they have. So if it is the case then it is their duty to do the job as it should. They have to pay attention to kids with difficulties to learn and assimilate and let the parents know and have additional help for them not humiliate them in front of their colleagues. As for excelling kids, teachers need to motivate them and talk about future opportunities to inspire them.

4- Students: they are responsible for their own success!! The parents will not live forever to guide you in every single path. Your parents and school give you the basic, it is your responsibility to improve your learning and do a lot of research to understand the materials. You need to keep in mind that you have to choose what inspires you rather than what everyone is doing.

The equation is that simple everyone should do his part.

GOV + PARENTS + TEACHERS + STUDENTS = SUCCESS

Without a single player here the recipe fails. And this change will not happen overnight. It takes generations and goodwill to change the outcome.

Tl,dr: the recipe to improve the education system in morocco is everyone contributing and doing his part. It is a collaborative and collective system starting at home Gov + Parents + Teachers + Students!!
