Just saw taxis beating up in drive driver
When are they making uber in drive whatever the de facto transportation medium.
We are tired of these half cleaned small vehicles with drivers full of attitude and non professionalism.
They need to find a way to legislate these apps and make it safe of course.
The need is real. A woman in staying in the middle of the road somewhere may get robbed but she could call in drive and they pick her up from her house safely and drop her off.
IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE.
Don’t want to hear: what would they do ? It’s life - go learn a skill whatever

Visiting Marrakech
I've got a few days in Marrakech coming up, and I'm not too interested in doing the usual tourist stuff. What would people recommend I do to create a lasting and authentic memory of your country?

Can my brother bring a new GPU on a plane ?
I bought a new GPU that i delivered to my brother in Belgium.
He is coming to morocco next week and we are wondering if he will have issues with customs.
Can he keep it unopened in his luggage ? Or does he have to open it to make it look like it's used ?
Any input will help !

Can secularism save us ?
So, I’ve been thinking. People always say, “Religion didn’t tell us to act this way,” and I agree. But here’s the thing: just because we didn’t understand religion the way it’s supposed to be understood doesn’t make what we’re doing okay.
I’m just taking women as an example(madyrach l7ijab 97ba, dima waklinha flwrt..) but this is about more than that. It feels like we’ll never really progress because decisions are made by invisible people we don’t even see. Still, I’m asking because I have a little hope.
Do you think secularism could help fix things? Or are we just stuck, no matter what?
Btw, these posts should take more attention than a dog's pic!!!!

Why are people so proud
Why are people (moroccans typically) so proud of things like being moroccan (zlayjiya) or being amazigh, I mean how can you just be proud of something you didn't choose, you didn't contribute to, and doesn't make your life any better, like being moroccan is realy an advantage for you to make your dreams come true, or being amazigh makes you a better person.I wanna hear you thoughts on this. My personal opinion is that most of these people have nothing going on in there lives. so they might as well just be pround of something.

I wish Morocco had bustling night streets like this where only young adults frequent. I took this photo today in Walking street, Saigon. The vibes are crazy and wild.

Unexpected inspiration from a Moroccan politician
Yesterday, I stumbled on a video of a Moroccan politician (عمر بلافرج) talking about social justice, and let me tell you this, I was hooked. The guy spoke so plainly and clearly, with none of the usual politician games or logical fallacies. For a moment, I couldn’t believe it. A Moroccan politician? Talking sense? Inspiring, even?
As someone who's never cared much for politics (as most moroccan youth), this guy almost made me feel... motivated. Like, "Maybe I should get involved. Maybe I can help make things better."
But then I talked with a firend about this. Turns out it was an old video. The guy retired years ago. And with that, my brief spark of political hope fizzled out 😅

European Media and Moroccans.
I've noticed a trend in which European media (especially Dutch media) shares misinformation about Moroccans. When the November 2024 Amsterdam riots happened against the Tel Aviv hooligans. The dutch media and politicians were quick to point their finger to the Moroccan community. Now it appears that alot if not most of the attackers who have been persecuted are not Moroccan at all. Turks, Syrians, Palestinians and even non muslims were part of the group too. These groups never get backlashed as much as the moroccan community.
The damage has been done and the reputation of Moroccans has been tarnished again unrightfully. It is concering not only because of the rise of right wing parties but also because I see that Moroccans who never set foot in Europe are alot of times believing the nonsense being spread and some Moroccans in Europe themselves too.
Why is it so easy for European media to tarnish Moroccans unrightfully and get away with it?

Why is Morocco behind in digital solutions adoption?
I was born and raised in Morocco, and I've noticed that IT adoption seems very slow in all/most areas.
For example:
* Hospitals still use paper documents for patients.
* Public services, like paying taxes, require going in person to make payments.
* ....
Does anyone know why this is still the case?

Where does the audacity come from?
So my neighbor legit came up to me and said "your color is so nice. Not ugly like those really dark women." And made a face of disgust.
Why would she think in her brain that this was a compliment? I let her know that I personally think very dark skin is the most beautiful. I do. Anyway, like what on earth Morocco...please to explain?

Moroccans are too emotional
Short and sweet, three events happened this week, and people keep talking about modawana only as if other laws weren't passed by the government:
-strike law limiting the ability for workers to engage in strikes, negotiation between the employer and the strikers must be ongoing and the employer informed 2 weeks prior before engaging in a strike. No outrage
-akhenouch signing a contract in the parliament for water desalination that benefits his own company, and giving said company tax cuts, no outrage
-new modawana: you know what's in it already, -mass outrage, as if people were getting married in this economy.
I think that Moroccans in generals don't do their research and only care about politics when it's too late or when it finally affects them.

Our culture is a problem
I was walking in the center of Marrakesh when I heard someone loudly screaming, "7iyd lmok ydk mel jibk," followed by the sound of a hard slap. I turned and saw a father hitting his own son, who looked about 6 or 8 years old, extremely hard. He was yelling at the child simply because the boy had put one hand in his pocket while walking with him.
I can’t tell if this is an issue rooted in Islam or Arab culture, but it’s deeply troubling. This kind of behavior makes me wonder if societies like this can ever truly improve. These patterns of abuse seem so ingrained that it’s no surprise many people grow up fucked up, angry, broken, or toxic. What’s your opinion on this? For anyone who wants to act all holy on me for criticizing islam and arabic culture for such behaviors, remember that it’s actions like these that hold us back from building a better society.

Advice travelling to Morocco
Hello, I will be travelling to Marrakesh in January and I’m just wondering if anyone can answer my questions.
1. Is it safe for women? I’m 20 years old and travelling with 3 guy friends, will I be safe enough?
2. I’m quite worried about Rabies, is it common in Marrakech?
3. I know Morocco is a Muslim country however I have read that Marrakech is a little more laid back on covering up for women. Is this true? I know it’s not super warm in January but I’d rather wear a tank top when the sun is out. Is this rude?
4. I want to take a trip to the Sahara desert and maybe take part in a camel ride. Are the camels treated well or they abused? Also, are there scorpions/ dessert spiders?
5. Anything else I should know about?
Does anyone have any recommendations for Marrakech?
(I’ve read up on the paper boarding passes, exchanging money and SIM cards)
I have googled these answers but I’d rather get an answer from someone who has went/ live there :)
