Why do we bargain with those who have the least?
Why do we bargain with those who have the least?
Edit: please don’t take the conversation that sellers are already increasing the price, what I mean, is that we prefer to give tips, that helping someone who needs it.
In Morocco and other places, it’s common to see people bargaining over basic items like mint, potatoes, or onions, trying to save 2 dirhams, even when buying from sellers who clearly don’t have much. Yet, those same people don’t hesitate to leave tips of 5 dirhams or more at cafes or restaurants.
It makes me wonder: why are we so strict with those who need it most but generous in places where the money matters less? Maybe it’s time to reflect on these contradictions and the real impact of our actions.

I feel like I’m loosing my heritage
30M, both my parents are Moroccan but I was born in the US. As I’m getting older and thinking I might one day have a children it’s scary to think what traditions I’ll pass on to them since I don’t really have many. My parents wanted me and my siblings to assimilate in the US so they didn’t really teach us darija or recipes etc. so I’m already a watered down Moroccan and on top of it I’ve been with a girl for 5 years and she’s American so I’m really scared to imagine what my children will be like and if I’ll be happy with the outcome of my life once my parents are gone I’ll have nothing left of my heritage.
Is anyone else in the same situation?

I spent months documenting Moroccan Rap history from the '80s to today, check out the result!
I’m a big fan of rap, and a few months ago, I started looking into the history of Moroccan Rap just for fun.
What started as casual research turned into months of digging, writing, and editing.
I got so into it that I ended up creating a whole website to share what I found from the first Rapper in Moroccan Rap history to the new artists shaping the scene today.
It’s been a fun project that combines my love for rap and the amazing stories behind the music.

Apart from legal consequences, is there any downside to marrying someone for citizenship?
I have family in both Morocco and other countries, and I was wondering what you guys thought about marriages on paper for citizenship

Where can I get car stickers in Morocco?
My father lives in Morocco while we live in Europe. Whenever we visit him we see lots of cars with Mashallah, Bismillah, La Ilaha ilAllah stickers. I want to get one and put it on my car at home but I couldn't find a spot they would sell and I have visited many souks. Father would not help me either cause he thinks I would get my car scratched because of it.

I'm very very angry! And I don't feel safe
It's been 3 months that I've moved to my new place in Salé. It's a résidence fermée and I've decided to settle here for the quiet and safety, especially that Salé has such a bad reputation.
I live on rez-de-chaussé. The first day that I moved in, one the security guards inside the résidence literally opened my windows on me and took a peek. I screamed and followed him to the front of the résidence where he ran to talk to his supervisor before I got my word. You can guess that when I complained about this harassment, I've been made the bad person. He said things along the lines of "I didn't expect you would be there at this time of the day."
My father couldn't care less about that so I was forced to let it slide.
I thought that guard would be my only problem so I relaxed and enjoyed my days. Turns out I was very very wrong. There is another gard in front of the residence, stationed there to "guard" cars; I highly doubt he's doing it legally. Anyway, that man is making my life very hard. Tu put it very simply, he's watching my every movement; I heard him talk with some people about the times I come and go in; my activities; my groceries; and the kind of things that a normal human being would do. Also, I'd swear to God he has a look in his eyes that creeps on my skin—like it's so disgusting.
Today, after over 3 months of all this attitude, I exploded. I was walking past him as I came back home and he looked at me up and down with his usual eyes and I told him "what?" His friend (the residence guard) shouted at me "What's wrong with you?" but I ignored him. I don't trust they will discuss the matter with me in a civilized way.
I cannot take this anymore. My father is no better than them and is throwing me in the lion's den and I honestly don't know what to do.
Please advise your sister here!
P.S. I am a student and I can't afford to move out. This place is the most affordable place I've found.

Is Joining the Moroccan Military Worth It? (FAR, Gendarmerie, Police, etc.)
Hello fellow Moroccans,
I’m a 21-year-old woman currently pursuing a degree in English Studies at university, and I’m considering joining the Moroccan military or a related branch (like the Royal Gendarmerie, Military Police, or Moroccan Police) after graduation. I’m uncertain whether it’s the right choice for me and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience or knowledge about these paths.
I’m particularly interested in:
1. Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR) – I know the military has traditionally been male-dominated, but are there roles for women, especially in support or officer positions? How does the recruitment process work, and what is the lifestyle like?
2. Royal Gendarmerie – Are there better opportunities for women here? How is the work environment and pay? Is it a career worth pursuing in the long term?
3. Moroccan Police – I’ve heard that the police force might be more inclusive in terms of gender. Is this a good option, especially for someone with a degree like mine?
Also, I’d like to know about the pay and work-life balance in these fields. I want to ensure I’m making a well-informed decision about my career.
If there are any people currently working in these fields, I’d really appreciate hearing your real, honest opinions on the pros and cons, or if you don’t feel comfortable commenting here please feel free to dm me.
Please, no jokes or pessimism about it—I’m seriously considering this path and just want to know what it’s really like since it’s the only profession I feel like I can belong to and give my best at.
I would love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and any advice you can offer! Thanks in advance.

Why do I feel lonely most of the time?
I live in a small city and don’t go out much. Even when I do, there’s not much to do, and I usually end up going out alone because all my friends have moved away! Is it just the city, or is it me? I’m not sure. Does anyone else feel this way? How do you deal with it?
