Does this happen to every MRE ?

Idk if it’s because of my face or if it’s because I’m a woman or if it’s just k7el erras, but every time I’m come back home to Morocco the guys at customs are super mghlo9ine et mghoubchine, but they are super nice to my (very white) husband. They also take their sweet sweet time checking my papers, don’t answer when I say salam où z3ma kan dur sswab… I speak to them in Arabic and say salam and everything it’s not like I speak French or English lol. anyone else had this happen ?

A few questions about visiting morocco

Guys, I have been to Marrakesh and am in Fez right now. The country is beautiful and most people are very nice. And of course Tagine is now my favourite way of cooking. But I have observed a few things that are very strange.

1. Every restaurant is filled with tourists like myself. Where are the locals eating or even Moroccans from other cities like Casablanca visiting fes eating at?

2. My Riad is the most beautiful place I have stayed in, and again only international tourists in there. Did not find a single Moroccan tourist (from another city).

Studying and working

Hello guys,
So, I currently hold a bachelor's degree (bac+3) and am working in a laboratory in Casablanca. I’ve decided to continue my studies to pursue a doctoral degree. However, I’ve noticed that most master's programs labeled as "master continue" are not accredited, and those that are accredited don’t explicitly mention the possibility of progressing to a doctoral degree.

Does anyone have advice or suggestions for a suitable master’s program? Thank you in advance!

My Sister Always Picks Fights, and I’m Tired of It

I (21M) and my sister (28F) always seem to have conflicts over small things at home, in the car, or just about anything. The main issue is that she constantly finds reasons to argue, and when I defend myself, she either plays the victim or tells me to shut up because she’s "had enough of me."

She also complains that our mom takes my side just because I’m the younger one, but in reality, she’s the one who turns everything into a fight. I do my part in the house—I handle outside tasks like buying things, running errands, or taking food to family members. Meanwhile, she’s supposed to take care of household tasks like cooking and dishes. But anytime I mention this, she starts ranting about how we live in a "manly society" and makes it seem like I’m the bad guy.

What annoys me the most is that she can talk to her friends and other people calmly, but with me and my mom, she’s always on edge. Even if we have a normal conversation, once I leave, she starts defending her ideas again, like she always has to have the last word. The only time we’re truly at peace is when we don’t talk at all.

The weird part? Sometimes she’s actually super caring, and those moments make me wonder why she can’t just be like that all the time. But most of the time, it’s just constant tension. At this point, I’ve stopped engaging in arguments and just keep my distance. I’m tired of trying to have a normal sibling relationship when everything turns into a fight.

Anyone else deal with a sibling like this? How do you handle it?

Future Job Prospects in Morocco

Salam everyone,

I (M25) am half Moroccan half Irish, born and grown up in London, UK. I’m about to graduate with a first class degree in economics from a UK university, and I’ve been keeping tabs on the financial district f Casa. It’s progressing very quickly and actually becoming a serious financial regional hub and I really want to move over there.

I much, much prefer the pace of life in Morocco, and prefer Moroccan people to UK for SURE. Here’s my issue- I don’t speak a single word of French. I detest the language in all honesty. My darija is pretty good (good enough that people do think I’m local sometimes). I know the working language is French, but I’ve read and heard rumours that Morocco as a society is trying to move into utilising English as the new working language. Is this true? If so, would anyone have an estimation as to when I could get away with moving over w/ my lack of French?

Or do I have to bite the bullet and learn French if I want to make this a reality?

Thanks for reading!

Should i end this friendship

I am a baccalaureate student in the "science math" branch, and there is this girl I've been friends with for this year, we're not typically Best friends, but we're cool together, she's my only friend in the school, basically, she is a walking bad habits, but the ones that i feel that are affecting me is that she is HELLA lazy and curses A LOT , and that kind of cooled down my academic spirit, people in my class are very hardworking exept for her , i have difficulties to build friendships and I don't wanna go back to be a loner again, I'm so confused should i end it here ,as my math teacher advised me, since he said i changed from the day i started sitting next to her and all that type of talk, please i need help to decide what to do.(I don't blame her entirely, it's just i wanna change from who i am now)

Best Schengen Country for a Moroccan to Get a Tourist Visa?

I’m looking to apply for a Schengen tourist visa and wondering which country would give me the best chance of approval. I know approval rates can vary depending on the embassy and the applicant’s situation, but I’d love to hear from others who have applied.

When did hanging out become everyone staring at their screens?

Lately, I’ve been noticing how different our hangouts feel. You go out with friends, sit at a café, and instead of talking, everyone is glued to their phone—scrolling, replying to messages, checking TikTok. Even when someone speaks, half the table isn’t really listening, just nodding while keeping their eyes on the screen.

And now, during Ramadan, I feel it even more. Remember how Ramadan nights used to be? Sitting with family and friends after ftour, playing cards, telling stories, laughing over the dumbest things? It was simple, but it was real. Now, it feels like those moments barely happen anymore—our attention is always split between real life and the screen.

Turns out, I stumbled upon a group in Casa doing something about this. The idea? A no-phone gathering. You literally lock your phone away for a few hours and just exist. Talk. Play games. Read. Chill. I tried it, and at first, it felt weird (lowkey panicked for the first 10 minutes), but then it started to feel… nice? Like I was actually present.

Idk, maybe I’m just getting old and nostalgic, but I kinda miss when we lived in the moment instead of trying to capture it for Instagram. Would you ever go to a no-phone gathering, or does the idea stress you out?

Fiber optic in morocco

Recently, IAM opened it's FTTH network making other ISPs able to reach wider areas and provide fiber optic plans to their clients, the deal is still open, there's still no answer from Inwi and Orange. But the most intresting the thing is the price. The price that IAM introduced for this service is dirt cheap. I mean 123dh/month for 100mbps speed and 335dh/month for up to 1gbps which isn't even available for consumers.

My questions is, why is fiber optic in morocco so expensive (500dh for 100mbps and 650-1000dh for 200mbps is crazy.)
And the fastest fiber we got is 200mbps.
Even algeria got better fiber than us with the fastest fiber speed reaching 1.2 gbps for just under 350dh.

Will this ever get fixed?

What do gymbros eat in Morocco? What are the foods with highest protein and lowest calories?

Back home I knew exactly what to buy but here I’m so lost, quark cheese costs 50 dirhams when in Spain it costs 90cents half a kilo. I don’t find cottage cheese anywhere, and if I found it, it will also probably cost an arm and a leg 😂 same with low fat Greek yogurt… I found that perly has almost 9gr I think of protein but for 100kcals. I’m struggling to reach my daily protrin intake. Literally at least half of it I get it from protein powder..

An islamic law that has been bothering me recently

Hello fellow Moroccans.

Well, Al-Riba, we all heard about bank loans and how riba is forbidden in Islam(explicitly stated in the Quran), which made so much sense back then as the rich got richer and the poor got poorer as a result of that exact act.

Now let me explain to you why it's bothering me, back then people traded goods that held their value throughout the time, if a person lends somebody 10 eggs, in 2-3 years those eggs would preserve the same value when that person gives them back.

With money... not quite the same, if i were to lend you 1million dirhams, when you will give it back to me in 2-3 years it will not be worth the same value due to inflation. E.g a house that costs 1million dirhams now, will cost more in 3 years (the same everything). maybe 1.2M so does that mean i can ask for 20% interest when lending that money out in a 3 years span? because if i don't then it just means i lost 200k by lending it to you, right? valuewise not numberwise.

And islamic banks thats just BS, they put Riba as documents fee (trying to outsmart god).

SO is there anybody that can explain to me how the Riba makes sense when it comes to money not goods?

How do so many people afford cars ?

Just thought about it right now looking at the prices of cars. And typically unless it's something real old and about to crumble. Everything is rather expensive.

But somehow everyone seems to own one. How come ? Is there something i'm missing ?

Edit: i mostly talk about people who rent etc but still somehow own one.

Knows nothing about Moroccan history as a Moroccan

Well well well, as bad as it sounds, that’s true. I grew up in France and never had the opportunity to learn anything about the historical background of my country. I speak darija very well and had a proper Islamic education but learned nothing about wars, big names, etc. I’ve always been okay with that but now that I’m approaching 30, I am a little bit ashamed of this lack of knowledge. What are your thoughts on this?
