sexual harassment by cities

I come from Rabat and sexual harassment is a normalised thing here and in the cities next to it. Lately I visited some family in Agadir and got the impression that people are more conservative there but there's less sexual harassment. I might be wrong as I havn't really walked in all the city, but what do you think, are there cities that have less sexual harrassment? maybe in the South or East culture?

PS: was curious about this after hearing about the news of the german guy who got his thing cut off by a guy after he was harassing women in a rif city

What the hell is going on with you?

There is not even an Arab country that raises its voice for the Palestinian people 🇵🇸.
Governments and citizens are silent like obedient dogs of Zionism.
If there is a demonstration, there are more police than protesters.
TFOU!
Morocco has sold its soul for a few drones and Pegasus.

Why is public urination still so normalized in Morocco?

It’s 2025, and somehow, grown men still think it’s acceptable to urinate in public — in broad daylight, in city centers, behind cars, or right next to walls people walk by every day.

This isn’t just happening in remote villages. It’s everywhere: downtown Casablanca, the Corniche of Rabat, Marrakech medina, near public buildings, markets, mosques… even schools.

It’s disgusting, embarrassing, and honestly unacceptable. But even worse than the act itself is how normalized it’s become. People walk by like nothing’s wrong. No shame. No fines. No consequences.

And let’s not even talk about the smell in some corners — especially in summer. Some walls literally reek of dried urine and rot. And we wonder why cities feel neglected?

Why does this happen?
There’s no real enforcement. You rarely see police intervening.
There aren’t enough public toilets, especially clean and open ones.
And let’s be real — many just don’t care. No sense of public decency.

Public space is not your private toilet. If someone did this in Europe, they’d get fined or arrested. Here? Nothing. Just zip up and walk away like a champ.

What needs to happen?
Cities need to build more clean, accessible public toilets — no excuses.
Fines must be enforced. Cameras are everywhere, so use them.
And we need to stop accepting this as “normal male behavior”. It’s not.

We talk a lot about improving Morocco’s image and urban quality of life — this issue is basic hygiene. If we can’t fix that, what are we even doing?

Curious to know — does this bother anyone else? Have you ever confronted someone about it?

Casablanca absolutely needs a metro system

This city is growing fast, and the current transportation infrastructure simply can’t keep up. The tram is helpful, but it’s not enough. Taxis are overloaded, traffic is chaotic, and commuting can be a nightmare — especially during rush hour.

A metro system would:
• Reduce traffic congestion
• Improve air quality
• Make daily commuting way more efficient
• Connect key areas like Sidi Bernoussi,Sidi Maârouf, Ain Sebaa, Maarif, and Hay Hassani directly

Other cities like Cairo have had metros for decades — even Algiers has one. It’s about time Casablanca took this step. The demand is there. The population is there. What’s missing is action.

What do you think? Would a metro really make a difference here?

How to not give a f Sexual harassment edition

Since this topic has been coming up a lot lately, I’d like to share some personal insights. As a woman who has lived in Morocco for over 28 years, I’ve learned how to navigate the streets without getting harassed and I’m curious to hear your thoughts too.

For me, it all comes down to body language. When you step outside expecting to be harassed, you unconsciously shift into a defensive mode and that shows. What I’ve found effective is walking with a neutral, confident presence: no emotions on my face, just calm and composed. If someone tries to talk to me, I keep walking not scared, not embarrassed, just confident, indifferent, and unaffected.

P.S : I say this with all modesty: I’m very fit and physically attractive, so this isn’t about going unnoticed. It’s about how I carry myself.

Moving to Morocco

Hi all!
I am a polish woman living in UK which I hate. I have never felt like at home in any country until I have visited Morocco. Straight away I have fallen in love with Agadir. I really want to move there ( I know people’s opinions on this will not be the same as mine). Has anyone from UK actually moved there? What did you do for a job? Has any companies allowed you to work there full time remotely? I am not self employed, employed by a company that is so against working from home.

My students keep using chatgpt and it's disappointing

I'm supervising some bachelor students, and it's really disappointing that they have no thoughts of their own, every time I ask them to write something, they just tap it on ChatGPT and send me the result of their prompt, they don't even bother hiding it, I'm not against using AI, I use it myself, but it should be no more than a tool, in this case, it's the whole effing brain.

Tipping in Morocco has become a scam — let’s call it what it is

Tipping in Morocco used to be a kind gesture. Now it’s just guilt-based extortion.

You pay for a car wash at home, and the guy acts like drying your mirrors deserves a tip.
You go in for a basic oil change, and suddenly three guys are circling your car hoping for a few dirhams each — even the one who just stood and watched.
You order food on Glovo or Jumia, pay 25 MAD in delivery fees, service charges, inflated restaurant prices… and then the delivery guy lingers like you owe him a bonus for doing his job.

Let’s not even talk about:
• The “guardian” who appears out of nowhere when you park.
• The guy who opens a door you were already going to open.
• Waiters who pretend they don’t have change unless you “generously” leave it.

This isn’t tipping — it’s a passive-aggressive hustle.

It’s turned into a cultural tax based on shame and social pressure. And it needs to stop.

I’m done tipping for normal service. I pay what’s asked, I’m polite, I say thank you — but I refuse to sponsor the dysfunction of the system.

If Glovo pays like trash, that’s Glovo’s fault — not mine.
If garages underpay helpers, that’s on them — not on my pocket.
If someone thinks standing next to my car deserves money, they’re part of the problem.

Tipping should be earned, not expected. I’m not rude, I’m just not a sucker.

Anyone else fed up with this? Or are we still pretending it’s “normal”?
