Looking to connect in Casablanca

Hey everyone,
I'm a 27-year-old M originally from Nador, currently living alone in Casablanca. All three of my close friends are abroad, so it's been a bit quiet and I realized it could be a good opportunity to meet new people.

I'm into tech, AI, and marketing (I'm a software engineer), but outside of work, I enjoy deep conversations, discovering cool cafés, walking by the sea, and just sharing moments with kind and open-minded people.

Since I don’t know many people in Casa, I’d love to meet locals or anyone spending their summer here.. especially if you’re also feeling a bit disconnected or just looking for new friends.

Feel free to comment or DM. Let’s make this summer a bit less lonely

Half the city is asking for money, does anyone else notice this?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but lately it feels like everywhere you go, someone is asking for money. If they’re not begging directly, they’re using the tactic of trying to sell you a pack of tissues or something similar.

Then there are the chemkarath (or whatever they call themselves), which is a whole other level. One of them actually smashed my door glass with a rock because I wouldn’t let him into the shop to beg. The police do absolutely nothing.

If it’s not them, it’s kids aged 5 to 10 coming up to you with any excuse, or elderly people asking on every corner. This problem is growing a lot, and honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore or how to react.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? Or is it just in my area that this is increasing so much? What do you all do in these situations?

I want to learn the Tamazight of Figuig (Aït Seghrouchen)

Salam guys!

I'm (24M) a moroccan guy currently studying abroad. My father is originally from the Figuig region (Ait Seghrouchen specifically), but sadly he never taught us tamazight.

As a personal gesture of recognition and a way to reconnect with my roots, I truly want to learn the Tamazight spoken in that region.
I'm especially looking to speak directly with someone who knows the dialect whether through voice or video calls.

If you speak Ait Seghrouchen Tamazight or know someone who does, please reach out and dm me. I would be very grateful.

Chokran!

Horrible train ride experience

I honestly can't understand why people and their children behave this way yesterday I was on a train ride from my home City to the city that I study in and it was a 3-hour ride so I was there for a little while and all I was trying to do is read a book but in my cabin there were two old ladies and they had three kids with them, two boys and one girl all of them were I'm pretty sure below the age of seven and the way they behave and the way those two ladies behave and really like shows that they don't really care is what frustrated me even more those two ladies were just laughing and talking to each other the whole time and those kids were jumping everywhere and fighting with each other like I don't know how people can live like this and they see their children behave like this it's really sad in my opinion and annoying as well.

Feeling like my dad expects me to provide for the whole family now that I’ve just started working

Hey everyone, I’m not sure if anyone can relate, but I just need to get this off my chest.

I recently started my first real job, and instead of feeling proud or supported, my dad seems to expect me to financially support the whole family now. Like, suddenly I’m the provider, the ATM, the emotional crutch, and honestly, it’s overwhelming and unfair.

I’m barely getting on my feet, and this pressure is suffocating. It feels like he’s draining me emotionally and financially, and I’m exhausted. I’ve tried to keep the relationship with my family, but this level of control and expectation is too much.

Has anyone been through something similar? How did you handle it?

New “trash police” for Casa ! will they end the "Hergawi" era? 🚮🚓👮‍♂️

Casablanca is setting up a special cleanliness police. Their job is simple: catch anyone who throws garbage on the street and give them a fine. City bosses want the squad ready before the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and the World Cup in 2030 so visitors don’t see our sidewalks as garbage.

The plan is part of the big “Casa Naqiya” (Clean Casa) campaign. Workers are already washing streets with recycled water, and new metal-framed bins are being installed because some geniuses kept burning or breaking the old ones. Officers will patrol on foot and use cameras to spot litter-bugs.

Sounds great on paper, but will it really stop the hergawa (the folks who dump trash anywhere)? Is a fine enough, or do we need a real change in attitude first?

Casaouis, did you notice some changes prior to the implementation of this system?

Drop your thoughts and stories ❤️

My childhood tr uma: update

Update: Despite the fact that I had this whole conversation with my aunt and said I'll try to move on without telling dad or reporting my 'uncle', I wasn't convinced. I was suffering alone when everybody was happy. I'm so sad mom doesn't really understand how it's hard to be in my shoes, she even decided to stay for more weeks in the house where my childhood trauma happened (and where that pig still lives) cuz she is visiting a doctor for sth. So I reached out to an organization 'Touchepasamonenfant" seeking help, and wanting to keep things discreet for now (cuz mom will be so angry if she knows what I'm trying to do, she would faint there or sth). And regarding dad, he's actually far away from us, about 6h away (as I said I'm in my grandma's ) I'll tell him eventually, but this is not the right moment. Fortunately I got a response from a woman who asked for details. She told me that it's really hard to put him in jail, especially after this whole time (Almost 10 years or more). I got so frustrated.. I tried to reach out to my two cousins who went through the same thing (because of the same person) but they never wanted to talk about it. I really need your advice please me cuz I don't know what to do now, or the steps I must take. 3arfa bli Hadi maxi blast had Les posts ms rah you're my people and you're Moroccans just like me, aware of our culture, aware of how many victims choose silence, because mothers don't want 'Chouha' so I thought you would help me out in the best way...

Trash burning within the cities

Hello -- as a foreigner I try not to impose my life experiences and opinions onto other countries, but something that I've constantly experienced and genuinely believe should be stopped is the burning of trash. I am not going to sit here and list all the effects of what it does to those that inhale it and the environment etc...but as I am inhaling it as I type, I am curious if anyone has seen any public service announcements or initiatives trying to get people to stop doing it? Or is it not much of an issue that people generally aren't concerned much with? I would shut my windows, but it'd be unbearably hot and thought I'd ask here.
