Action movies with Overstylized action like equilibrium, Suckerpunch & ninja assassin?
U know those rare movies that focus a lot on style whether its the tactics they are using, camera work, effects, music
Despite how the films actually are.. Fight scenes stays with you for a long time because of their overstylized action (atleast it is for me)
Maybe residents evil (jovovich) movies fit in this category (if u seen let me know)

Movies With Animals Going Through Trials (Like Watership Down, Plague Dogs etc.)
First of all, English isn't my first language and I'm kinda sleep, so I apologise if something doesn't make sense.
I am looking for animated movies which have a more serious tone and are through the point of animal. Preferably with a darker theme.
More well know movies are can be included are like Bambi or Watership Down, but movies like Wolfwalkers (a very good movie nonetheless) does not quite fit into what I am thinking. Of course there are grey areas, like The Secret of NIMH, which fit into more of the themes of humans can be cruel and what the 'nature' can do to face that or about struggles in general. Although Birdboy And The Forgotten Children doesn't fit into the frtal animal theme, the tone is exactly what I want
Some examples of this are the following (involving grey area ones). I will add more as people suggest them, don't feel too strict about the themes, feel free to suggest anything that you deem similar enough :)) Most of this films don't get enough recognition so uuh bonus points if the movie isn't well know OR if I made you watch on of this movies haha
Watership Down
Plague Dogs
Felidae
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
The Secret of NIMH
Leafie, a Hen Into the Wild
Bambi
Brother Bear
The Last Unicorn
Animal Farm
Unicorn Wars
The Ringing Bell

Looking for stunning, slightly creepy sci-fi and drama
I’m looking for new movies that might be similar to some of my favourites:
Arrival, Annihilation, Children of Men, Memento, and The Social Network.
They tend to have some sort of sci-fi/tech angle or twist in varying degrees.
They’re usually a little tense, off-putting, or spooky.
It helps a lot if it has an incredible score.
Pretty broad, but hopefully there’s something that comes to mind!

Romcoms/Dramas with sci-fi twists
Hi! I’m looking for a chill, sweet, feel good movie, maybe a romcom, where the premise is around something strange/scifi.
Movies like:
-Yesterday
-Palm Springs (loved)
-About Time
-Safety not guaranteed
Anything would be helpful!

Movies were the title is just a guys first name
The only one I can think of is Paul (2011). There are a lot of movies where it’s just a girls first name but not a lot for guys I feel.

Movies Like The Evil Dead 1, 2, and Army of Darkness
So, I got into the Evil Dead franchise quite recently. I watched the first three movies, then I watched Ash vs the Evil Dead. I fell in love with the franchise, and my reasons for that is that even though the movies went through development hell, they STILL WORKED WONDERFULLY. They didn't have the rights to 1 when they made 2, and I think that happened with 2 when they did army of darkness but I could be wrong. They didn't have the rights to Army of Darkness when they did Ash vs the Evil Dead, but they still made it work.
Bruce Campbell is a phenomenal, charismatic actor. I love him as Ash Williams, and I love the comedy/horror aspect of Ash vs the Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, and I also love the insanity and unexpectedness of Evil Dead 1&2.
I want something that has a similar feeling to it. With a protagonist that completely different from any typical protagonist, and has an evil dead immersion to it.
If you need any clarifications, please let me know and I will be pleased to clarify.

Terror in the Aisles
I was cleaning the house today and found at the bottom of a storage bin a VHS copy of Terror in the Aisles. I can't remember the last time I watched it, but remember how much I loved it because it was a compilation of great horror movies. (Sadly, it is a VHS copy and I don't even remember ever having a VHS, so can't watch it now. Does anyone else enjoy horror movies like this? Compilation videos? If so, are there any others like this out there? Would love to find some. Thank you!

Looking for movies that star 10-14 year olds.
Hi! I (22f) am looking for movies that star 10-14 year olds. I am watching my god sisters who are in middle school next weekend and was hoping to show them some really great movies with people in their age group as the main characters. Gender of leads doesnt matter. They’re in 8th grade and parents told me that rated R is fine depending on how bad the content is. No matter the rating I will run it by them for their approval so no need to hold back. Thank you in advance! Excited to see the suggestions.

Recommend some animation movies and shows please
I've been on a bit of an animation spree with Nimona and The Owl House, and I'd like some more. I've seen all the Pixar films, Coraline, a bunch of the DC animated films, Gravity Falls, TLA, Rick and Morty, and any major animated films from the last 20 years. Very behind on anime so those recs will be highly appreciated (I've seen Totoro, Violet Evergarden, Bebop, Your Name, Silent Voice and a couple more)
Any language, year, country, and don't hold back on the weird ones. If it's a tv show, I'd prefer if it was short (one or two seasons). Thankss :)

I (26M) am feeling kinda lost with all the required adulting in my life, is there any movie that can make me feel understood?
Hi, I am in full adulting mode: 8-5 job, paying rent, keeping my house clean, being a respectable person, my friend group is slightly fading away due to marriages or moving, a teen called me sir the other day.... and I am struggling with it. My thoughts are: Is this actually what life actually is?
So, the same way we have a whole genre of movies dedicated to teen coming of age, is there anything similar to "adult coming of age"?

Good detective movies
I saw denis Villeneuve's prisoners 2 days ago and I loved that movie . The editing was so tight and all the actors shined so well I'm surprised no one got an Oscar for that movie .
By the way I want you guys to recommend me good thriller movies like prisoners.

Experts what say you...
I am always looking for something new. I asked a couple of my friends what lesser known 1980s film should I watch this weekend that I haven't seen. They each listed a bunch of movies until we stumbled on a film that I had not seen. So i received a recommendation from each of them. I will most likely watch all of them over the next week or so, but of the three films suggested what should I watch first?
1 - Brazil
2 - Prince of the City
3 - To Live and Die in LA

Movies where a monster or alien escapes confinement and goes on a killing spree against humans
I want a movie where a monster, a entity or an alien escapes confinement or a laboratory and starts killing all humans it can find, can be terror, sci fi, mystery or action, any genre actually. Preferably on Netflix or HBO Max, because it's the streaming services i have.

Movies that deal with the concept of personal freedom vs. being a part of society
Recently I've been thinking a lot about personal freedom without obligations, especially since I've been travelling quite a bit. Some examples would be Vagabond, Captain Fantastic or Into the Wild. The whole "being free but it comes with a cost" theme has been very interesting to me lately. Do you know any other movies that tackle similar issues?

Movies where the central theme is basically "humans are the real monsters"
I'm looking for films of any genre that cover the theme of humans (whether we realize it or not) revealing ourselves as the true monsters and threats to all life. No matter how much we like to blame it on external factors such as technology, machines, nature, demons, other humans etc.

Looking for non-English chick flicks similar to movies like Mean Girls, The Devil Wears Prada, and 13 Going on 30.
I love chick flicks but I feel like I've seen most of the English speaking ones. Despite having seen so many of them, I still prefer the best of the best like Mean Girls. I'd love to see that style of comedy that's maybe a little sentimental at times from a non-English speaking film.

Movies set in Ireland? Preferably with some historical lens OR indie flicks?
Making a visit to the country for the first time and I am looking to get excited about the trip! I'm up for anything plot wise, could be set in a major city or in the country. I really liked that 'The Banshees of Inisherin' flick that came out recently & the wind shakes the barley as an older example.
Thank you in advance!

Request For obvious reasons I'm feelin patriotic. What are some flag-waving "USA! USA! USA!" 'Murica movies I should be watching in the next few days?
I've probably seen the best multiple times so let's get the rest to the top with upvotes. Nothing has to be war or military-related. I wouldn't call G.I. Jane a patriotic movie. They should also be at least earnest in their patriotism so I'm not looking for Team America, In The Army Now or some Larry The Cable Guy farce.
Here's a few out of the many I've seen and would also suggest if you're looking to scratch the same red, white and blue itch I have:
- Air Force One (1997)
- Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)
- Top Guns (1986 and 2022)
- Miracle (2004)
- Glory (1989)

Looking for movies both me and my girlfriend can enjoy
For context me (26M) and my GF (24F) have very different tastes in movies and I’m looking for some stuff that we both can enjoy. I typically like mind bending and deep dramas with my favorite directors being Scorsese, Nolan, and Tarantino. My GF on the other hand typically likes big budget action movies and rom coms, I like some of these but for the most part I find them hallow and all the same. Looking for any and all suggestions that maybe can fit in both molds or close to it. All responses are appreciated!

What’s a gem that no one talks about, doesn’t fit into any particular genre, that you recommend?
I can list a 100 psychological thrillers, whether I’ve seen them or not, just because they’re ones everyone suggests when the topic of mindfuck movies comes up.
But a lot of movies get overlooked simply because they don’t fit a category, but are arguably fantastic standalone watches.
What’s a film like that for you? You rate it super high, and think is phenomenal and should be seen by all, but rarely get the chance to mention it and it’s now a hidden gem?
From me, may I recommend Maudie. It’s a wholesome film that follows Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke as two outcasts who tolerate each other in a weird relationship that builds over time. Didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, as I’m not a romance movie type at all, but I guess this doesn’t fit your typical romance stereotype and is a great watch. Never hear it mentioned, but those who watch it typically appreciate it. Tell me your examples!

Need those movies with “freeze frame”
Yeah the ones where the movie pauses on the main actor’s face and the actor narrates something along the line of “you’re probably wondering how I got here” doesn’t have to be exact- only requirement is it has “freeze frame”.

Are there any good movies based a real crimes that were never solved?
As I rewatched The Black Phone (2021) I noticed that 1 plot point was a reference to the real life disappearance of a boy named Johnny Gosch. So that got me wondering if anyone's got any good recommendations of any films based on real unsolved crimes.
I've already seen: **Memories of Murder (2003)** [Though the crimes that inspired this movie were finally solved in 2019 I believe] & **Zodiac (2007)**.
Edit: ugh I meant to say based ON* in the title...

Looking for psychological thrillers/ horrors with twists like Donnie Darko, The Dark and the Wicked, Creep, etc.
