It's hard to focus after lion's mane and my skin is less sensitive
I take ashwaganda 450mg daily and vitex chasteberry 400 mg daily. I took 500mg of lion's mane once yesterday, but I did't sleep well the night before (only 4,5h).
I can't really tell if I felt any more potent in cognition. All I can say is that I felt less tired maybe, but at the same time it was hard to work, so it was useless for any kind of focused work - I am aware that it was most probably because of lack of sleep.
After an hour of taking it I felt warmth on my skin on my upperbody. I had such waves of warmth maybe 1 or 2 more times back then. Yesterday I had such a wave in the evening.
Yesterday I slept well (7,5h), today was the same, but I feel like it is so hard to focus for me. Notice - I meditate and jornual daily and it was helping me with my focus, now I feel I'm going backwards.
Also - I feel like... not well rested? Even though I slept well? I thought it was because of my lack of sleep, but today was another day I slept well and I still am kinda tired.
And yeah - I noticed my skin is less sensitive. I feel it especially where my skin was more sensitive.
Again I took lion's mane only once. My question is - is it some kind of hangover after it? Will I be able to recover? If yes - how can I? Any tips?

Phenylethylamine Experience (PEA)
I purchased a 250 gram bag of PEA from Amazon and was interested to see its potential.
Day 1 - 500mg - no effect
Day 2 - 1000mg - mood lift - very simular to DLPA though very short lived.
Day 3 - 1500mg - took it with some Pepsi Max, it is a very bitter, solvent tasting substance, after 20 minutes, my vision started to change - like a blurry effect, then I got tingles at the back of my head, and started to come up - very simular to MDMA - though without the colour enhancement effects, It only lasted 10 minutes, though it is incredible, euphoria, weightlessness, relaxed, peaceful.
Day 4 - 2000mg - like yesterday, though more intense, more pleasurable, looked in the mirror and my pupils were extremely dilated.
Thoughts: 10 minutes is an extremely small amount of time, I dont know if this is worth repeating much more, as that serotonin feeling in the body cant be good long term? cant imagine is good for the heart, I didnt get heart pounding like Ive read in other reports, though I did become aware of my heart beat.
Were I think PEA could be useful is, if your experiencing major depression, this substance would be useful in lifting people out of it, if only for a short time, much like how they use MDMA to treat depression in some countries.
250 grams is a lot, Im kind of tempted to throw it in the bin, its been fun, but got a feeling its probably not good long term.
What are other's experiences with PEA? Should I bin it?

Unusual choline requirement?
Recently began taking ALCAR with alpha GPC, and it's been an eye-opening experience. For the past 4 days, I have consistently experienced an unusually (compared to my previous baseline for the past few years) "clear mind" as well as an enhanced ability to focus within 30 minutes of alpha GPC ingestion (I've taken it without ALCAR for the past two days and the effect remains).
Dosage: 300 mg in the morning with 500 mg ALCAR. One day I took a second 300 mg dose in the afternoon, gave me a "second wind" in terms of focus/clear-mindedness for studying in the afternoon.
This clear-headed feeling lasts for a few hours, though I should note that when I'm studying or engaging in strenuous exercise it feels like wears off a little quicker (maybe after 2-3 hours). Did I have a choline deficiency for years? I don't really restrict my diet, eat plenty of meat and eat eggs once in a while, so I'm confused as to how I might have developed one (or if I have a mutation of some sort that impairs my ability to absorb or process choline properly/efficiently).
I've hesitated to use alpha gpc consistently for a few years now after reading reports of choline induced depression on here, but I'm happy to report so far that it's had the opposite effect for me, if anything it's elevated my mood and allowed me to just think clearly.
I should note that I struggled with focus and energy for years (started in my mid-late teens, I'm now in my early 20s), could this have been the culprit?
Curious to hear thoughts/theories as to why I or others like me seem to require so much choline to (apparently) optimally function.

Caffeine tolerance
I used to love the mood boost and alertness that came with drinking coffee. In the past year, coffee and tea trigger agitation and irritability. I've switched to caffeine pills (50mg 1-2x day) and it's been helping me at work tremendously. I do not want to become tolerant and need stronger doses. How can chamomile tea be effective if apigenin has such low water solubility?
we all know people have been using chamomile tea for calming purposes for centuries, and we all know one of the main active gabaergic chemicals in chamomile is apigenin. Supplements to help GABA receptors recover after years of drug abuse?
As the title mentions, I'm looking for anything and everything that can help fix my brain after years of alcohol, phenibut and GHB abuse.
I don't use any hard drugs or drink anymore, I've been sober for a really long time, but I still feel like I have long-term damage, mostly from a short period of extremely heavy phenibut use with minimal tapering. But I used GHB, alcohol, amphetamines and loads of other things for years.
A couple of nights ago I took 5mg of valium (I have it for my dog for when there's fireworks) after a stressful night to help me sleep. I had a great sleep, but the next day I felt like complete shit. The following night I woke up randomly at 5am, heart pounding, exhausted but completely awake at the same time, unable to fall back asleep. Completely inexplicably.
For a while I was taking things like ashwagandha, magnesium, valerian and theanine every night to help me sleep. After a while I noticed that not only were they not working but that my sleep was completely messed up and I felt bad all the time. I came to feel that these supplements were at best prolonging the issue and at worse making it worse by acting upon a similar part of my brain to all the drugs I took.
Besides general good health practices, are there any things I can do to make my brain a bit more normal in this regard. It would be nice to be able to take a bit of theanine or a 5mg of valium once every couple of months when needed without it making me feel terrible. It's kind of annoying to be one small dose away from withdrawal symptoms, especially as I haven't abused drugs in years.
To reiterate: I'm not looking for something to ease my symptoms. I know there are drugs that might make me feel better or help in the short term, but all I really want is to get things back on a more even keel and ideally reverse some of the damage that I've done. I know this is not a straightforward process. As far as I'm aware Agmatine is not available where I live (Spain.) I'm not expecting any miracle cures but just something I can do over time to gradually get things back to normal, without experiencing any withdrawal effects when I stop taking it.

Downstream Methylation?
>Also, in the context of methylation (which is very important), TMG is a more downstream molecule in methylation pathways. We therefore recommend taking more upstream methylators, like choline and/or phosphatidylcholine (that way, the body can choose itself how much methylation donors it wants to create), and a B vitamin complex.

too much anti-oxidants?
so i tried high dose vitamin c for my me/cfs and i had one day right at the beginning (day 2) where i had a noticeable uplift in symptoms. i could not replicate this in the weeks since...
from what i've read it is about dosing to bowel tolerance (basically take as much as you can without getting diarrhea) and keeping a high level in your blood at all times. so that's what i did...
now it could have been just a placebo effect but let's assume it wasn't and there is an ideal level/amount to take. to aide me in that question i would appreciate opinions or experiences about if there's such a thing as too much anti-oxidants (before the diarrhea, obviously that's too much)? does too much cause some kind of stress the same way too little does? or maybe there's another mechanism here.
but all of this comes down to a post i saw on reddit and it said there isn't much of anything about this in the literature. that's why i'm asking here, thanks so much for reading!

Also are there any negatives to dosing this chemical for a prolonged period? I know it upregulates GABA don't want to mess up my receptors in the long term.

After 20 years of Nootropics use, these are the best in my experience
Let me preface this by some context.
I work in the software business, I'm an entrepreneur and I need to work long hours. I have a fairly healthy diet which is mostly plant based, I eat meat perhaps once a week. I get about 10k steps every day from either walking or jogging, and I do long hikes or trail runs on the weekends, typically 20 km in distance. I get between 7 and 8 hours of sleep every night. I don't drink, I don't smoke.
For about 20 years, I have experimented with many different Nootropics. I don't even want to try to list everything I have tried, but here are the things that I have found to be most beneficial for me. I won't go into the exact benefits too deeply, to try to keep this short. You can just ask if there is anything you want to hear more about.
1) Psilocybin. This is the best Nootropic for me by far. It's not even close. I microdose Psilocybin usually two times per week, and then take a higher dose during my weekend hike. I use it for medicinal purposes, that is, I don't have any interest in getting high per se, I consider it to be a side effect. I combine Psilocybin with Lion's mane mushroom and Chaga mushroom.
2) Racetams. I regularly use Pramiracetam and Oxiracetam and these two are my favorites. I have not tried Phenylpiracetam, but generally speaking, I don't find a lot of difference between the Racetams, other than piracetam being the least potent of them. I use Alpha-GPC as my Choline source and take that with any Racetams.
3) Vinpocetine. I like it especially towards the end of my work day, so I can feel its effects if I go for a run after work. I don't get runner's high but if I have taken Vinpocetine not too long before going for a run, it makes the running experience a bit less dull.
4) Acetyl-L-carnitine used to be among my favorites, but unfortunately, its effects wear out very quickly in use for me. Also, the pure Acetyl-L-carnitine powder is strongly hydrophilic, so if I buy a bag of Acetyl-L-carnitine, it will turn into a bag of watery sludge before I'm all the way through it, which is rather annoying.
5) Caffeine. For me, the key with caffeine is to stay off from it during the weekends. I would typically drink one or two cups of coffee during a work day, and at most have one cup on the morning before my Saturday's hike and zero caffeine on Sundays. Not having any on Sunday isn't a pleasant experience but it's the price I need to pay for ensuring that caffeine keeps working for me.
6) Hydrafinil. I absolutely loved this the first few times I tried. It was the most powerful Nootropic I had ever tried at that point (i.e. before Psilocybin) and I just loved it. Unfortunately, its effect started to wear out very quickly. I started to take it only time per week, but even that way, it no longer did anything for me.
That's it. Everything else I have ever tried has been negligible in its effects at best.
Disclaimer: I'm not recommending anything for anyone, also, where I live, all these substances are legal.
Edit: Added item 6, I originally forgot to include it.

Follow up post on NOW branded ashwagandha (450mg) after first month
After a month of taking NOW’s ashwaganda, here is my experience:
First time taking it, it gave me stomach issues and made me gassy, kept on taking it tho.
After the first time there were no immediate side effects like an upset stomach, maybe my body got used to it
First week: noticed a higher libido, but nothing else (no side effects)
Second week: libido felt like it returned to normal and still no side effects
Third week: significant strength increase, cant pinpoint it on ashwagandha as i also started taking creatine betore it,but i was able to increase all of my lifts by a significant margin, bench went from 65 for 6 to 70 for 8
And max went from 80 for 1 to 90 for 1.
I will keep taking ashwaganda and will make a post if i “get empty” like people on social media say ashwagandha does.
In conclusion, i noticed significant increases in strength but cannot pinpoint it on ashwagandha, additionally i do not feel more relaxed or even angry, will keep taking.

Ssri alternatives for ocd
So I know you definitely have to do your own research and find what works for you and consult a doctor and be careful about your brain and serotonin and all that stuff but I was thinking about coming off my anti depressant which is Zoloft, I just don’t like how it makes me feel and the side affects. It is helping my ocd but it sucks that you have to either have the ocd or the side affects… so I was curious if anyone has ever tried any natural supplements instead or got off anti depressants. Again just curious and I will be doing my own research and consulting with medical professionals as well. Thanks

Quitting Weed -- Lemon Balm Extract?
Hey guys,
Stopped smoking carts 4 days ago. Anxiety and vomiting are still through the roof, but Lemon Balm takes the edge off a little bit. Am I hurting myself in the long run by using Lemon Balm Extract once or twice daily (if that) at the recommended dosages? I think one dropper's worth of the Vitamin Shoppe extract brand contains 175 mg. at a 10:1 ratio. I normally take 1/2 to 3/4 of that dosage. It's almost too effective not to have some kind of "rebound" upon cessation.
