I wish there was a way to track podcasts listened to between different apps
I used to use Pocket Casts all the time until I found out I could get ad free with Amazon Music and Spotify, so moved to listen to different podcasts on different apps. Now I want to go back to a simpler podcast listening again and stick with Pocket Casts for them all but it’s been months and it’s going to take too long marking each episode as played.

What do I do when I want to leave a review for the podcasts I listen to but don't use Apple?
Nearly every podcast I listen to ask for rates and reviews on apple podcasts. I don't use Apple and I have no intention of ever signing up to use apple products. Is there an alternative where everyone can leave reviews and rate them that is not tied to a specific company like Apple or Google or anyone can search without having to join a specific ecosystem like that?

It's a plucky little podcast that you should tune into! :)

Looking for a general science podcast
I've caught up on Sci Show Tangents so I'm looking for more in a similar vein. Multiple hosts (that don't talk over each other ideally) covering and going over a topic each episode. Anything along those lines would be good!

Weekly General Discussion & FAQ Thread - July 24, 2023
Please use this thread to share podcasts you're currently listening to, to ask for recommendations, give critiques and complaints in a civil manner, and to chat about general podcast-related things. This is not a thread to promote your podcast nor is it a place to rant about things about podcasts that annoy you - these comments will be removed.
Also, please check out our wiki info pages including listener FAQs and our list of other podcasting subs. You might find the answer to your question on one of those pages. If not, please feel free to submit all frequently asked questions (FAQs) here.
Individual FAQ posts will be removed and users will be directed to post their question here in this thread. Be as specific as possible - "looking for a new podcast" is a bit broad.
If you are helping / answering a question, be polite and not condescending. People are here to find out information.
Please report any posts or replies that don't follow these rules. Thank you all!

Best Modern Podcast App (like podverse)
Ive used apple podcasts and google podcasts for a long time. Tried spotify, pocketcasts, etc too. Never really found a compelling reason to move.
However in a recent episode of NoAgenda, Adam mentioned that “modern” podcasts apps are so much better because they can show multiple cover art, transcripts, support features (VfV), etc. He linked https://podcastindex.org/apps as a place to get these “modern” apps. But when I visited, I found that there were a lot!
Podverse looks interesting, but I wonder what do you people use FROM THE LIST?

Dragonfly: Brett Cantor murder mystery by Casefile Presents
Really interesting story so far.
Interesting and engaging grabbing lots of good references to 90s music
Only negative feedback:
The narrator almost sounds like an AI bot
Delivery is incredibly robotic with the same emphasis on early and last words in a sentence. So odd as casefile narration is so good.

French podcasts to practise B2 level?
I like Inner French, Passarelles, French with Jeanne, Impolyglot/Le Brocast, Popcorn and Montreux Comedy
It would be good to find a podcast made for a French audience where the presenters just happen to be speaking on the slower side and pronouncing quite clearly. (For German I use Gemischtes Hack and for Spanish Las Preguntas de Burke y Broncano)
I enjoy podcasts which are conversations reflecting on everyday life, society, popular culture and psychology
Any ideas?

Podcast episodes with good advice for young women using assertive language/ safe behaviour, in uncomfortable (unsafe) situations.
Hi there,
I'm looking for recommendations for really helpful podcasts which can pre-arm young women/ people with both the non-contact, 'best practice' exit strategies and/or the vocabulary and ideas for using verbal strength against unsafe situations (any situations - violent perpetrators, sexually inappropriate encounters, bullys etc).
Asking as a dad of a daughter.
Thanks.

Do other podcast "booths" look up to Jamie Vernon?
Weird question with probably no real answer but I was wondering if other podcasting teams (the backend part) look up to Jamie Vernon. It seems like every other podcast of that size has entire teams, or is Jamie sort of the frontman for the backend of JRE?

A Few Bad Apples podcast ?
I heard an ad for the A Few Bad Apples podcast, which sounds like it's about police misconduct. The podcasts exists on several services, but the files for all the episodes are all missing everywhere.
I was just wondering if anyone knows what happened to it. Did they have to pull all the episodes due to lawsuits or misinformation or something ?

I need somewhat of a grief podcast.
I can’t stop thinking of my fiancé who has passed several months ago, and even so I cannot stop thinking of her, the day it happened, what was going on, sometimes it is the only thing on my mind. I need something that gets me up and contemplating the better things in life.
EDIT 1; Where do I listen to these podcast as well.

Looking for a UK focused version of How Long Gone
I love the how long gone podcast and listen to every episode. I especially like the ones where the guys talk alone, without a guest.
Can anyone out there recommend a pod that is in a similar format (two people speaking with HOT takes on culture and events) but one that has more of a focus on events/culture in the UK?

Podcasts focusing on Veteran's issues (suicide, PTSD, etc.). Thank you for your help!
Hello Podcast Experts!
I'm trying to locate podcasts that focus mostly on veteran's and/or mental health issues. I've found a few on Spotify that are interesting but no way (so much as I can google anyhow) to contact the principles involved. I've written a memoir of my experiences as a student in the navy's nuke school. While there I witnessed a number of suicides (including my roommate) and mental break-downs. I would like to expose the toxic climate in this program to as many people as possible in the hopes that this will generate enough outrage on the part of the American public to force the navy to make a change (or at least hurt their ability to recruit - and harm - many young people).
What I witnessed and gone through has deeply effected me. For years I simply ignored it; you know, the 'tough guy' approach. This doesn't work. Over time it just ate away at me. I was close to joining my roommate. I would like the opportunity to be a guest on a podcast whose focus aligns with my own, as I think this may be a great way to get the word out. In my fantasy, a great way to apply pressure on the navy.
Do any of you know where I can start? Perhaps, how to find out how to contact the principles involved? I've spent hours on google (I was hesitant to ask for 'self-promotion' nonsense) but I'm willing to risk it because I'm at wit's end. Please, help a vet out to help other vets out!
Thank you for your help!

Any holistic/alternative health/spiritual podcast recommendations?
I’m looking for some new podcast series to listen to. The following are the few podcasts I’ve been really into:
The Dream Bigger Podcast
The Genius Life
Dhru Purohit Podcast
Truth Be Told Paranormal
I like podcasts that talk about health/alternative health but also podcasts that talk about spiritual topics/emotional health, etc….
I’m not too picky and it can be a podcast that only focuses on one topic above.
Thank you!

Podcasts and the WGA/SAG strikes
The hosts of one of my favorite crime podcasts, neither of them actors or writers, have stated that they won’t be discussing any TV- or movie-related topics until the strikes are over. Of course I understand that union actors and writers shouldn’t be going on podcasts to promote any studio content, but these hosts are “civilians.” I respect their decision but I’m baffled. Anyone else hearing their podcasters making similar statements?

Any recs for “serial” story podcasts for someone who has listened to every serial prod podcast and This American Life podcast out there?
Starting to struggle to find good podcast series at the moment, I’ve absolutely rinsed This American Life, I’ve listened to every Serial productions podcast (some series multiple times).
I like learning about nonfiction stories, from the past or present, but I can’t stand two things 1. Very plain / rigid spoken voice actors 2. Anything involving true crime where the speaker dramatises things / seems to be enjoying making it spooky or entertaining
For anyone else looking at this with a similar taste and wanting recs here are some of mine:
Bear Brook, In The Dark, The Retrievals, The Trojan Horse Affair, Dr. Death, The Rest Is History, The Shrink Next Door, The Dropout
