# Amorim on his players needing to 'suffer'
"It is a different league and it is harder than in Portugal. But I also have experienced players who play in their national teams. Having a lot of games without time to train means it will be difficult for me, but be tougher for them."

# Amorim on players adapting to his style
"It is not a surprise. These are different things. I have to use the names of the players to explain the situation to you guys. I have explained why we had some problems in the first half. It was not a problem with the players; it was about me \[and my ideas\]. I believe we can play in different systems. Sometimes we defended in a 4-4-2 \[vs Ipswich\]. We have to play in different systems because nowadays teams change their dynamic. I think our structure, the power of this structure, is to change formation in each game."

# Fernandes on if Amorim's system will be easier for older or younger players to adapt to
"I think it could be worse for the younger players because for me, I know what the Sporting players were doing. I wasn't reading what the manager was doing there; I was watching their games. When I go to the national team, sometimes we play with a back-three, sometimes I play as a No.10, sometimes I play wide. You always have to move. **I don't think age should be a problem, either older or younger. It is about carrying the most you can from the dynamics. As the manager has said, you do not need to overthink things, you just need to know you have a base and a foundation."**

Honest opinion from a Sporting fan
As many other Sporting fans and Portuguese football fans, I spent part of my afternoon yesterday watching Amorim's first game.
Goal at the beginning of the game pumped me to believe Amorim was just part of a fairy tale story (all these 2 weeks of soap opera, concluding with Amorim coming and winning right away), but oh boy, I was mistaken. After the goal, it was painful to watch this United.
Amorim said it right away - a key for this system is INTENSITY, and majority of the 11 that started yesterday have zero intensity.
1. The CBs that played yesterday have no fitness nor intensity to play on back 3. Mazraoui was the best, and probably won the place - just not sure if he wouldn't be a better choice (for now) for LWB. Hoping that Leny Yoro and Lisandro can come in soon and take the places.
1. None of your yesterday's CB has the quality to move on with the ball, gain field and make critical between-lines passes. Most of the CBs at Sporting have these skills (Coates, Inacio, De Bast, Diomande, even St. Juste when he is fit). I'm talking both connecting passes to the midfielders, but also to the 2 number 10 & striker.
2. Eriksen and Casemiro can't just be it. Those 2 players are so important in Amorim's system for the stability of the team - both with and without ball. Ugarte has to start (assuming he didn't because of national team). I don't know Mainoo, but from what I heard, he should be the one playing as well. If not, you need urgently someone from the market in January for one of these positions.
1. Your two midfielders have to be ruthless without the ball - always pressuring, two on top of the ball if needed. With a system like this, the CBs and the LWB/RWB will be there to help if needed. Intensity, intensity, intensity.
3. One of the two "number 10s" has obviously to be Bruno. For the other place, Garnacho isn't fit enough for the needs of this position. He needs to work harder. I would see Dialo there. You need players calm on the ball, controlling, but at the same time also dynamic enough to appear between lines, and also take the ball across lines (see Pedro Gonçalves against Man City on our 2nd goal + see Trincão playing).
1. Bruno is by far your best player, levels above all others. He is at his best at the position he started yesterday (playing the position of Pedro Gonçalves), but he could easily also handle the upper midfield position (playing the position of Morita/Bragança).
4. Rashford scored, but he just isn't it. He is lazy without the ball, he doesn't pressure, he is not hungry. Hoping Holjmund can take that role, but he has a though job. Without proper midfield, his job gets harder as well.
IMO, you need to look very seriously to your LWB/RWB + midfielder (depends on Mainoo will handle it) positions when it comes to recruiting players. CBs - I would wait and see if Lisandro and Yoro can handle it.
Besides players - for me it's clear that Amorim is a guy that can turn Man United around. But he needs time. Not only time, but also players that believe in the system.
I understand it's early to take assumptions from the players on this system, since yesterday it was clear that majority of them didn't even know where to position themselves....
.... but one thing is positioning, understanding the game, skills, etc - other thing is having hunger, intensity and pride in playing for Manchester United. Majority of these players didn't have any of the three.

Amorim: "It's a tough league. You learn that in the first moment. My players were thinking too much in the game you can feel it. Not just on the ball but where they are supposed to be. And that is hard It's just two days with the team so it's really hard. I think the physicality we needed more in the first half."
Amorim: "It's a tough match, we lost some balls without pressure. You have to control the ball and the tempo of the game. They didn't do it but they really tried. They are really trying and they want this."
\~\~ Ed Sheeran *just fucking crashed* Amorim's interview out of nowhere lol \~\~
Amorim: "We have to try to since the first moment, we have to address the new idea and try to be better next year at the same stage."
"Decision-making is a concern, you don't need to coach them in this level. We are doing some things not in the right moment and that's what we have to address. The 3-4-3 is not the concern, the understanding of the game is what we have to improve."
# Amorim: "This week I spoke more to the media than I did in four years at Sporting. I just want to work with my players. Nothing more."
Amorim: "They want this, the players want this, they don't know how to get it that was my feeling."
Ruben Amorim: “I know the fans are frustrated but there is a lot to change. We are going to SUFFER for a long time... some of the players only had two days.”
"You start discovering things that you didn't know like Garna, can hold the ball between lines, you can understand that by seeing the games because he's always open so you try to find these things."
"We will try to find a lot of things about the players, we will need a lot of time to work out these things."
"Bruno Fernandes, he improved his game by playing near the ball. So he can give us the long pass but you cannot put him there all the time because he wants the long pass all the time."

M.U.S.T. Statement - Club put up remaining Members match tickets to £66 per game for remainder of season
Club put up remaining Members match tickets to £66 per game for remainder of season
Tonight the club informed the Fans Forum of changes to certain ticket policies that will take effect immediately. The Club has indicated that it will post the details of these changes online but the headline is that, with immediate effect, all Members tickets for the remainder of this season will increase to £66 each, and that this price will apply for kids and over-65s as well as adults.
This means that for an adult member to take their kid to a game in the remainder of this season will cost £132. Well over double the minimum price they could pay to do it today. And this change is happening overnight, immediately.
The Club claims that 97% of this season's tickets are already sold, so that this will only affect a small number of people, but we believe this stat is misleading, as we will explain below.
The Club has provided zero consultation on the matter, neither with the Forum nor the Fan Advisory Board nor MUST. We were simply informed of the decision that there will be price rises affecting certain fans that are “urgently needed” to address profitability and sustainability concerns.
Suffice it to say, that the idea that the fans must pay their “fair share” for the Club’s excesses and/or mismanagement—and above all, the Glazers lack of investment over two decades—is offensive.
We fans have done everything we have been asked. We have cheered the players on even in the face of substandard performance. We have gone to matches and abided by the new usage rules for tickets. We have taken on a price increase this year. This is in addition to the hundreds, even thousands loyal fans pay to follow United home and away.
There is a risk that this is only the opening salvo of what will surely be massive pressure to implement a significant price rise for next season. Once they have got used to charging £132 for a parent and child to come to OT, will they really go back to the old pricing levels for next season?
We are absolutely in favour of running a sustainable business, but football clubs are hardly ordinary consumer businesses. Ours is clearly in “rebuilding mode.” Moreover, it is not like we have options to take our custom elsewhere: we are not going to “choose another provider” like one might pick a telecoms company.
If the club has a need for short term capital they should issue new shares, as they did when INEOS first arrived, and bring in funding from existing or new shareholders.
We have objected to this action in the strongest possible terms, both for the action itself and the complete lack of consultation, which is a step backward based on the process we had agreed with the Club before INEOS’ arrival.
Over the coming days MUST will be seeking urgent discussions with the Club to get them to listen to fans' concern at this policy. United fans have sucked up a lot. We will not be silent on this and we need to be prepared to resist any attempts to further drive up ticket prices.
Many thanks for your continued support
