Viktor was sent a mysterious message from what he believes is an A.I, in code, which came from rainbow island. It says "hello" initially but later he begins talking to it and it asks a lot about his research. He later concluded it is not an A.I programme as it talks about drinking coffee. It realises it has slipped up and stops messaging.


Ogden is worried that the island's resources and rainbow colours aren't 100% natural and seem genetically modified or altered. He thinks it happened relatively recently and that starlight strand being two totally different colours is weird and unnatural. He thinks nature is managing to survive but has been meddled with.


Thora says that the device we found in the glass desert at the end of slime rancher 1 was left "primed and ready" by H and doesn't know why it is ruined and wrecked now. Our mystery person has been to the glass desert and talked about "closing the door tight behind them", did they wreck the glass desert teleporter thingy on purpose?


Thora talks about having a baby and wanting to leave the ranch to them. Could this baby be the mysterious drone message leaver in the future, who feels guilty for not inheriting the ranch?

New to the game, got two completely unrelated questions that came to me at roughly the same sime by sheer coincidence

Hi there, ranchers! New LeBeaux in town. A few *in-game* days ago I received a mail from *Casey*, which seems to be Beatrix' partner. As far as I'm aware, Casey's a female name, short for Cassandra. Does that mean that Beatrix' canonically lesbian/bi? :D

Second, when I asked my sis who put 90 of the 100\~ or so hours our account has on the game, she told me that I would not be getting any more hotbar slots, only 4. If this is the case, is there a mod that enables me to get more hotbar slots? Even if via gameplay-legitimate means like upgrades.

Do I need to play Slime Rancher 1 before 2?

I unfortunately started playing Slime Rancher 2 on PC Game Pass the day before it was removed from the app. It was fun! I tried playing the first one for a few hours years ago but got frustrated with it since I didn't understand a lot of the mechanics and such.

I was trying to look up the official release date of the 2nd game, but I saw a lot of people saying that you should still play 1 before 2. Is it essentially the same gameplay with some additions in 2? Or is 1 better than 2 so far? Or is it just lore reasons? It seems like the lore is pretty light and it's mostly slime farming, though.

tl;dr Do I need to play Slime Rancher 1 before 2 or will I just be playing the same game twice?

These slimes are really good at pretending to be treasure pods often staying still until they smell food. They are relatively blind though so they won't always find their dinner.

Rancher Risks
Thanks to their difficulties seeing they might accidentally bite another slime making them irritated or they might bite you. Just stay out of the way while they're eating and it'll be fine.


They're often found in caves away from the sun so they should be put in darker corals (Solar Sheild) or they'll get hungrier from stress

Slime Rancher 2 Lore (spoilers all)

Hello! I got the drone archive key and have been reading all the drone messages again in Slime Rancher 2. I'm super intrigued about what the big mystery is! Many spoilers below so please only proceed with care!

Also sorry for weird formatting, am on mobile.

So far as I can tell these are the clues we have, can anyone tell me if they have any theories I've missed or I'm mistaken?


My understanding from the drones:

1. The mystery character leaving the drone messages left their home, where their parents and grandparents were ranchers. Their parents wanted them to take over the ranch but they wanted adventure.


2. They explored rainbow island and had fun enjoying all the nature and discoveries. They seem light hearted in the archived messages, having a good time just exploring. They build the conservatory and grab resources like jellystone, ride geysers for the heck of it and go for morning jogs (where a ringtail steals their cookies!)


3. At some point they discover the way into the grey labyrinth and spend time exploring it, entering it from starlight strand and emerging in ember valley, realising it wraps around the islands. They want to go back in and explore more.


4. They find something disturbing. They call the experts to come and have a look. They are really worried about whatever it is. But the experts are greedy and want to exploit whatever has been found. They do not worry about "stablisation" and soon there is a "collapse" or "cave in".



5. Something bad happens. The character talks about "It".... an event that has traumatised them and they can't stop thinking about. It seems to be responsible for having destroyed the conservatory at some point. They seem guilty and traumatised. They also say their memory is somewhat fuzzy or unclear.


6. They leave rainbow island. We know they visit the glass desert from slime rancher 1 because in the archive they talk about hating caves and preferring the open air but later they talk about how they have come to love caves because they saved them from fire storms in the glass desert.


7. The character returns to rainbow island. There is a sense that things are urgent now and they need to prevent the disaster from happening again. They talk about the Prisma waves being responsible for increased geothermal activity in Ember Valley, the rising of Powderfall Bluffs from the sea due to this, and something about the seasons not changing properly on starlight strand anymore (it used to be green and gold instead of pink and blue for example and shifted with the seasons but not apparently anymore.)


8. The character talks about returning to the grey labyrinth and preventing something... they seem really upset and worried and very focused on time running out. They speak as if they may never return or see home again. They regret not fixing the relationship with their parents and grandparents.... they say their parents sold the ranch and disappeared. They talk about sealing the way in to the labyrinth... "shutting the door firmly behind them so no one can get in."


9. Someone mysteriously invites Bea to rainbow island and she arrives and finds all the drones and conservatory waiting for her. It seems to have been designed to look deliberately older than it is.


So all things considered from the drones, it feels like something really awful happened. But what? And who left the messages? Who is the mystery person? What will we find out in the labyrinth?


Mochi said the drones seem like something she designed but using future tech that wasn't possible yet. This makes me wonder about time travel. Is our mystery drone leaver ourselves from the future? Mochi? The child that Thora and Hobson want to have? Or is there no time travel element and it's someone we've never met (but how did they get the Mochi drones that she can't even make yet?) Mochi's parents?

Slime rancher left game pass without warning

Hi, yesterday I downloaded slime rancher, and it was not mentioned anywhere that it would leave PC game pass, however that slime rancher 2 was leaving the 16th. Today I tried opening slime rancher for it to say that it had left game pass, while slime rancher 2 still remains in the game pass list. Was slime rancher supposed to leave game pass or is it some kind of mistake on behalf of xbox?
