Smartest NPC lore-wise?
So, I've been thinking - which NPC in Terraria do you think has the most brains of the bunch?
I myself would probably pick the Witch Doctor. He's one of the three NPCs who dislike the Hallow and he's the only one who has a pragmatic reason for it. The Clothier dislikes it because he just likes darkness, while the Tax Collector is just grumpy. The Witch Doctor on the other hand knows that the biome is not exactly purity, but it's more about decieving looks and under the cute facade, it's almost as vile as the Corruption or Crimson. Funnily enough, he appears to have a beef with NPCs who like it. He dislikes the Nurse, while the Wizard dislikes him. Still, even though the Dryad considers complete purity better than the domination of the Hallow, the Witch Doctor is the only one who fully admits that it's full of shit.
Another candidates would probably be the Guide (because he knows every crafting recipe possible and has hidden depths), the Mechanic (because she was capable of creating functional mechanical abominations even when she was starved and tortured) and the Dryad (because she's like ancient and knows a lot about the world).
