Being contactable without SIMcard nor wifi: is it possible?
Hi guys, how are you?
I saw the YT video suggesting not to use SIM card due to privacy concerns, which i share.
Where I live, there is almost no public wifi, and i need to be contactable for personal and work life.
Do you know if a form of long distance ee2e comunication exists?
Thanks!

Just found out about this channel and I'm in awe I didn't earlier

I've been dabbling within the Privacy community here and there for a couple years now, and most of the advice makes sense and is on point, but only focuses on the Software side of things or Policy activism, and while those are fine and sorely needed I always wondered why there is no resistance DIY projects that go beyond installing Graphene or using XMR as currency. Well, here it is, and has a similar philosophy to the THO channel since I didn't see a single paid sponsor (but don't be mad at me if some other videos in the channel actually have one), also that every project segment came with a bit of history about the story of anarchism.
So all in all: fun to watch and with actionable steps to take. 6 Molotovs out of 5 Henry Rollins would recommend.

Just tried to sign up for a tuta email account and their site won't allow it... why? I AM USING PROTON VPN. Tuta blocked registration from the IP of my VPN. Anyone else had this happen? Very not cool.

The Challenge of The Mind
I'd like to throw out a thought on the effort to move the needle back in the direction of freedom, the Lost Art of Critical Thinking. The founding fathers (US) had some deft Critical Thinking when it came to taking the idea of freedom and extending it out. They were for the most part well read, sought ideas, established common ground, and then moved with wary unity towards something higher than their own needs and wants. This took Critical Thinking and the willingness to see ideas that were not their own as better or helpful to the overall cause. Do we have that intellectual power in our culture today? If no then... what?

Recent appearance on Watchman Privacy
Such a great talk and criminally under viewed. No Google account so thought I would leave a comment / discuss here.
One question about Linux not being a privacy tool. Surely even if you install heaps of spyware Linux is better than Windows or macOS? I found this take interesting and would like to discuss.
Also I think THO should take the money if he needs it. Its easy to say not to, but living is fucking expensive. Like Gabriel said, I hope everyone that said not to immediately sent him $70.

How does one live without a SIM card like THO?
I want to get rid of it, but how do I make calls with people who don’t have online call sites like telegram or WhatsApp(which I know he hates)? I could port my number to call online, but id have to do Google voice or Microsoft’s call thing, which are not private. thanks.

Wow! This is the first time someone outside Switzerland has talked about our surveillance laws, which have been in place for ten years. The new proposal is insane, forcing providers to remove encryption etc.
Here are some good reports and official sources.

Anyone tried “Max” (private internet environment)?
Has anyone evaluated Max “private internet environment” - basically a privacy-first browser/vpn with no tracking, no logging, no telemetry, no ads, ... They claim to be developing local, on-device AI as well (of course) to be a private agent inside the browser.
I've used it and it feels pretty good. I’m curious what technically minded folks think.

Removing " GOOGLE Device Lock Controller" broke my OnePlus 13
Are there privacy‑focused custom ROMs without Google for the OnePlus 13? I used a OnePlus 13 with OxygenOS 16 without Google, deleted everything from Google and disabled Play Services, and was pretty satisfied—it worked well. Since the last update a few days ago, an application appeared that wasn’t there before: Device Lock Controller from Google, which can’t be disabled. I then uninstalled the app using Universal Android Debloater, and since then my smartphone keeps restarting continuously and no longer works. I researched online what the app is for, and apparently it’s meant to allow the creditor—i.e., the bank or mobile carrier—to lock your phone, which I find extremely questionable since I bought the phone outright without financing and it belongs to me. The app constantly communicates with Google in the background and drains the battery. I also find it legally dubious from a data‑privacy standpoint whether something like this is even permissible in the EU. What can I do to repair the phone without losing my data? And why are we forced to keep an apparently useless app that runs in the background and seems impossible to uninstall?
