Tools and resources for better story telling in my videos?
Tl;dr Do you know of any great sources I can use to learn to tell better stories that reach a wider audience? Where do you think I am doing things wrong?
I have never been a story teller. I have always focused on research and thought that research alone is just as interesting to others as it is for me. But understandably, that cannot be the case.
Reaching a wider audience has always been an uphill battle for me. I want to make improvements where I can so if you have anything where you think I do things wrong, please let me know.
Thanks.

P2P Messaging, File-Transfer and VR in a PWA
Hello everyone,
[chat.positive-intentions.com](http://chat.positive-intentions.com/)
I'm thrilled to announce that I am open-sourcing my project, a decentralized chat application designed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) built entirely in JavaScript. This decision marks a significant step forward for the project, aiming to embrace the ethos of transparency, collaboration and community feedback.
For those who might not have seen my previous posts, here's a brief rundown of what this app brings to the table:
* **Secure Messaging**: Utilizing end-to-end encryption to ensure that your messages remain private and secure.
* **File Sharing**: Leverage WebRTC technology and QR codes for easy and secure file transfers.
* **Voice and Video Calls**: Connect with friends, family, or colleagues through seamless voice and video calls.
* **Shared Virtual Space**: Explore a shared mixed-reality space, offering an experience akin to entering a metaverse.
* **Image Board**: An intuitive, scrollable format for browsing and sharing images, inspired by platforms like Instagram.
You can find a high-level overview of the app’s workings [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/positive_intentions/comments/19b940t/a_different_kind_of_chat_app) and some initial thoughts and features discussed in [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/WebApps/comments/1bml7pz/p2p_alternative_to_whatsapp_instagram_and/). **An easy way to test out the app is between two of your devices like a phone and laptop.**
The app is working in a unique way in how it stores large amounts of files in the browser (indexedDB) so the storage used is always on your local device, but has a couple other selhosting options:
* [host the statics](https://www.reddit.com/r/positive_intentions/comments/1aqu6fx/adding_the_decentralized_to_decentralizedchat/)
* [host a peerjs-server](https://github.com/peers/peerjs-server)
Initially, I was exploring various avenues for monetization but found it challenging to settle on an approach. This exploration has led me to consider GitHub Sponsors as a potential means to fund further development. I’m open to other ideas and would love to hear your thoughts.
Previously, I was cautious about a "big-bang" open-sourcing approach, as outlined [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/positive_intentions/comments/1934nf9/how_i_want_to_approach_open_sourcing_my_app/). However, I've decided that open-sourcing the project now is the best path forward. It will allow me to engage more deeply with the community on the app's security and privacy features—areas I’ve [claimed to excel in](https://www.reddit.com/r/cryptography/comments/1736211/the_theoretically_most_secure_chat_app_in/), but have rightly been critiqued for not being verifiable in a closed-source model.
I acknowledge the importance of good documentation in open-source projects. However, I must admit that the documentation for this project is not yet comprehensive. The codebase remains a work-in-progress and it is far from being a complete proof-of-concept. It might present challenges in understanding. For now, the best form of documentation might just be the code itself, alongside discussions on our subreddit: [r/positive\_intentions](https://www.reddit.com/r/positive_intentions). Your questions and curiosity are welcome.
**What Open-Sourcing the Project Aims to Achieve**:
* **Enhanced Feedback**: Open-sourcing allows me to gather invaluable feedback from the community, helping refine and improve the app.
* **Focus on Security and Privacy**: It opens the door for more in-depth analysis and contributions toward the app’s security and privacy capabilities.
* **Support through GitHub Stars and Sponsors**: If you believe in the project, your stars on GitHub and potential sponsorship can provide much-needed support.
This journey is just beginning and I'm excited to see where collaborative development can take this project. Thank you for your interest, support and feedback.

compartmentalization, compromised accounts, and enhancing privacy, what are the next steps?
I have followed the most common privacy tips and here are the actions I've taken:
1. In my Google account (kibo.no.shirei.kanuwu@gmail.com), I have cleared my browsing history and disabled it, except for music, to track metrics at the end of the year.
2. I've decided to split my accounts: one Tuta account and three Nord accounts. The Tuta account is exclusively for personal information related to my school and personal life, containing my name, address, and possibly phone number. The three Nord accounts are for compartmentalizing my online identity: one for general use, one for development (like GitHub), and one for gaming.
3. deleted Google account used for personal stuff, which includes photos, emails from online platforms (e.g., Amazon), order history, and address. I plan to delete this account. and use tutanota
After taking these actions, what should I do next? I'm currently using Tor, accessing only HTTPS, and not allowing JavaScript. The accounts were created in Tor(emails), and I use Tor only for activities related to the online identity i created. However, I'm not entirely sure if it's better to use the clarinet for activities linked to my online identity. eg schoolwork
Considering governments are part of the privacy threat model, and I've deleted passkeys, here's my concern: My first email (kibo.no.shirei.kanuwu) is linked to GCash, which is fully KYC compliant, and the number is identifiable due to SIM registration. Additionally, a second email which is linked to this account is linked to my grandma's Google account.
The first email is used to register for all online accounts, as I rarely need to use my real name. However, I used my main email kibo.no.shire.kauwu@gmail.com to GitHub and Microsoft, it has my ID for student benefits edx is linked to github and Google and also has my real name for certificates.
Should I assume all these Google accounts are compromised and change all my usernames? Let's assume I might not be favored by the government(this is mainly the future as in the next months), but the threat is more about general government spying and possibly evading some attempts. I do plan to engage in activities that are morally correct but might not be favored by the government.

I came across a lot of articles and videos about graphene os , but some people still talk about dumb phones. Considering you can't restrict access to cell towers, wifi and stuff like that on a dumb phone, would you consider a pixel with graphene more private / secure than dumb phones ?
Thanks in advance !

Can you still pay with your Amazon Gift card without giving your data?
I'm having a problem with purchasing something on Amazon. I could normally pay with my Amazon account wallet but now it asks me to give my:

* Nationality
* Date of Birth
I tested it out on some other items and sometimes it asks me and sometimes not
I don't trust Amazon. Is there a workaround for this?

Does using the same Bridge solve the entry guard issue ?
Concerning Tails
It's about Entry Guards. From what we can find in the various documentations, non persistant tails does't have persistant entry guards (please correct me if wrong) so de-anonymization can occur if someone controls Entry Guard + Host (or exit node) (again correct me if wrong).
It's totally understandable why Tails doesn't use persistant Entry Guards, they wrote it in their documentation, it's because all tails users will be known to use the same entry nodes (if set by default in installation).
So if I'm correct, when we use a bridge (meek, obfs...) this bridge becomes like an entry guard.
So does using the same bridges (if by chance we suppose that this same bridge we use is not compromised) makes tails users safe from people trying to do de-anonymization by using entry guards and exit nodes ?
P-S: Of course the bridge being configured manually, it doesn't need to be persistant, it can be configured at every connection

Decentralized Whatsapp, Instagram and Metaverse In A PWA.
[positive-intentions](https://preview.redd.it/2b32w0k1tbmc1.png?width=192&format=png&auto=webp&s=c1ec0ec7337380f0a32a5e82e2301f8e306ddbff)
Hello everyone,
[https://chat.positive-intentions.com](https://chat.positive-intentions.com/)
I'm excited to share with you an instant messaging application I've been working on that might interest you. This is a chat app designed to work within your browser, with a focus on browser-based security and decentralization.
What makes this app unique is that it doesn't rely on big servers to function. Instead, it works based on your device's capabilities, so even low-end devices should work.
Here are some features of the app:
* Secure messaging: Your messages are encrypted, making them more secure.
* File sharing: Easily share files using WebRTC technology and QR codes.
* Voice and video calls: Connect with others through voice and video calls.
* Shared virtual space: Explore a shared mixed-reality space, similar to a metaverse.
* Image board: Browse and share images in a scrollable format, similar to Instagram.
Your security is a top priority. Here's how the app keeps you safe:
* Decentralized authentication: No central server is required for login, making it harder for anyone to gain unauthorized access.
* Unique IDs: Your ID is cryptographically random, adding an extra layer of security.
* End-to-end encryption: Your messages are encrypted from your device to the recipient's device, ensuring only you and the recipient can read them.
* Local data storage: Your data is stored only on your device, not on any external servers.
* Self-hostable: You have the option to host the app on your own server if you prefer.
The app is still in the early stages and I'm exploring what's possible with this technology. I'd love to hear your feedback on the idea and the current state of the app. If you have any feature requests or ideas, I'm all ears!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
* The app: [https://chat.positive-intentions.com](https://chat.positive-intentions.com/)
* More information about the app: [https://positive-intentions.com](https://positive-intentions.com/)
* Keep updated about the app: [https://www.reddit.com/r/positive\_intentions](https://www.reddit.com/r/positive_intentions)
Note 1: As a solo-developer, i dont have the capacity or knowlege to do anything like an "official launch". i expect the app will progressively get better with feedback from users (as it has so far).
Note 2: I think the app has (approximately?) reached a feature-complete state, but i'm not sure. I'm looking for feedback on what features are missing, and what features are not needed. The next step would be to grow the number of users by making the app more user-friendly and easier to use. (I need your help on this)
Note 3: The app is not open source yet (sorry), but im open to answering questions about how the code is working (more details can be found in the docs). Open sourcing the app is something i would like to do in the future, but not a priority right now. some parts of the app are open source.
Note 4: The UI is a clunky implementation of Material-UI. It's something i will fix as i move towards open sourcing the UI components. i will take the opportunity to also give more attention to a "desktop friendly UI" (right now the app is best experienced on a mobile device).
Note 5: Id like to keep the wording i have for "pods" although i have recieved feedback about it not being clear what it means. A pod is what you might think of as like a "chat room" and will be further developed to support group-chat. you can create a pod with a connected peer in the contact-details-page. The wording "pod" comes from how a group of whales is called a pod.
