Why Thinkpad users complains about E Series? I am having a excellent experience with e14 gen5 AMD
As the title said: "Why Thinkpad users complains about the E Series? " I have been using a customized e14 gen5 AMD 7730u with amazing results.
Ryzen 7730u and able to achieve 25-30w with sustained loads.
8gb soldered but added another 32gb for a total of 40gb of RAM.
NVMe 512gb with another empty m2 slot available
Keyboard feels great, as any other 2023-2024 thinkpad keyboard, with good backlight.
Touchpad is good enough
Screen is 1920x1200 300nits matte display, 45% NTSC but it is Ok for software development.
Everything 100% working with Linux Mint 21.3 with Mainline kernel 6.6
All aluminium body
Narrow bezels
No Lenovo Vantage "intelligent cooling". Energy profiles works with window 11 energy management and same with Linux Mint.
1080p Webcam which is good enough for Google Meets, Zoom, Slack.
5 hours of continuous real working with battery. Easily 7 hours for basic task
Fan noise is really low (even in high loads).
Was able to install Ryzen controller and adjust TDP very easily to reduce even further fan noise (not really necessary but it works).
Paid around USD 760 with the big battery. So overall the experience have been amazing for that price, for me this is a true Thinkpad model. No regrets at all in fact I will keep and eye on next e14 gen 6 model for this year.

I guess I'm a collector now.
I've had an x230t for years. Love it. Have abused it. It's an i5 model. Couple years back, I found an immaculate and fully upgraded i7-equipped x230 on offer up for a "without hesitation" buy price. They both have a place in my world. 2 Docks, one in each of my two work areas, extra charger in my always-ready carry on bag. Love these little laptops.
I recently reinstalled Offer Up, looking for some other unrelated and antiquated tech product. Ended up finding it on househood name auction site instead, and offer up just quietly hung out as an overlooked background activity.
Then it pinged me with an unexpected notification the other day. "Offer Up: New items matching your saved search 'w530'." An immaculate specimen, 32Gigs, TB SSD, 2 Docks, 3 Chargers, an extra battery even. 100 bucks was an "I'm free now, can you meet in 20 minutes" price.
Not quite sure how this big boi is going to integrate into my life, but it'll find a role.
And now I need to find a T430, so that I can say that I've batted for the cycle with the 30 series. And I'll probably keep my eye out for an immaculate i7 x230t, because I reach for that machine the most, and mine is a little rough at this point.
So, I guess I hoard old thinkpads now. Should I put that on my dating profiles?

What exactly went wrong within Lenovo?
Why was powerbridge ditched? Why was the ThinkLight ditched in favour of a backlit keyboard? Why was the 7-row keyboard layout ditched? Why was the comfortable curved palrest ditched? What's with the obsession with shedding every possible bit of thickness?
I absolutely hate the 6-row layout and the modern keyboard. The layout sucks and keys aren't as good as the old keyboards. And the obsession with thinness just leads to the whole thing being flimsy.

X1 Carbon G12 OLED or the latest 14s OLED?
Anyone know of any reviews directly comparing the X1C G12 OLED with the latest 14s with AMD + OLED. I seem to recall, that the G11 still beat the 14s in battery tests for "typical usage" but not under heavy load. When I have my laptop on battery, I think it is very rare I have it heavily loaded. Been waiting on notebookreview but I think it will be a few months
Or maybe someone in the sub is switching from the latest 14s to the X1C G12?. maybe not

T480 battery upgrade
Post made via Google Translate (I'm Brazilian) I have a T480 and the battery is almost reaching 500 cycles. Is this upgrade worth it/is it possible?

What do you use to scroll?
Two finger scrolling? Edge scrolling? Trackpoint maybe?
Most of the time, I use edge scrolling but I use a toggle keybind to make edges cover the entire trackpad (if that makes sense)
