New Thinkpad Suggestion
I'm in the market for a new laptop. I currently have a ThinkPad T15p (Gen 1) and though I've been pleased with it, I am disappointed the case is falling apart without being dropped or hit. Check out my post here for the issue I've had with it:

I'm looking for a 16 inch laptop (desktop replacement) that I can depend on a daily basis without worrying about the case cracking and coming apart. I've considered the Dell Latitude as I have had one of those since 2016 and it's been a good pc but have heard the new ones have more issues than ThinkPad's. I'm looking at getting the T16 but do not want the same thing to happen to it as my current Thinkpad. Does anyone have any knowledge on the current build quality of the new ThinkPads compared to my model or have any other suggestions?

Also, do you all currently recommend the Intel or AMD ThinkPads? I'll be needing either the Ryzen 7 pro or i7.

Thanks!

How much for a refurbished T480?
Hello guys
I have the opportunity to get a refurbished T480 for around 320€
I have no sense for pricing, but making an offer is possible with this dealer.
Here are the key specs: I5-8350U, 32GB RAM, 1080p 480GB NVMe SSD, different keyboard
layout with stickers to match my language and preinstalled Win 10 Pro
There is nothing else known.
But will ask him about all the accessories/ fine details like 2nd battery, battery capacity, IPS display etc.
Any additional question from you guys would be appreciated.

Undervolting no longer possible? BIOS downgrade blocked!
Trying to extend battery life + lower temperatures by undervolting X280. This thread shows good results from doing so + other threads for T480 say the same thing.
According to this comment, BIOS must be downgraded to pre-plundervolt mitigations.
Plundervolt came in Nov/Dec 2019 (source) so looking at x280 bios update txt log the version required is 1.30. All versions available here from Lenovo.
Despite successfully downgrading to 1.33, I cannot get 1.30 to install either with mkusbkey.bat or from within Windows.
Do I need a SOIC8 + RPi to downgrade to 1.30 and earlier?
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? All thoughts/opinions very welcome.

Maybe this time they won't go back to the old design

Was under the impression that the T480 needs at least a 20V pd supply to charge, but I was pleasently surprised that mine happily trickle charges off of a 12v 1.5a pd powerbank. Is this normal or is it because my unit is a later one? (appears to be manufactured potentially as late as 2020)

X230 + X220 keyboard really worth it?
Hello, I'm about to buy an X230 laptop and was thinking if it's going to perform well. On wiki I've read that some keys may be mismatched and some functional shortcuts not working, like fn + f3.
So the question is, is it really worth it? Won't it be a pain to use? Or is it smoother than it seems?
