I'm a University student (Analytics) and recently learnt how good ThinkPad is. Can you help me with buying sutable one, for me?
I'm studying Business Analytics. I'm not sure which think pad series, is the best. Is there any kind of important factors I should consider when buying a new one?

Which Ryzen Thinkpad is best for cost/performance in 2024?
I've heard that latest ryzen generations are actually not that good. What would your choice be in 2024?
For T or X series.

Downsizing the "collection" a bit, wanted a smaller workhorse that'll last me a while for work and travel, seemed like a solid deal. Will be replacing my P15s Gen2 that has served me well. Can't wait for it to get here!

14 year old Thinkpad I got this T510 first gen of core i5. It looked so pristine when I bought it from a dealer for 80 bucks.

What older small thinkpad should I get?
I wanted to get another small (10-12 inch) thinkpad to go alongside my X120e, but I don’t know what model to get, so I figured why not ask here. What little thinkpad should I get?
(I want it to be able to run Debian with KDE plasma, as I have some silly customization ideas for it. Aside from that I don’t care).

Considering buying this. It’s in “good” condition and the specs would meet my needs perfectly. Worth it?

T14s Gen 3 riddled with sleep/wake issues
Hello All,
WARNING: RANT AHEAD
I'm at my wit's end. I was issued a T14s Gen 3 AMD by my employer and I am just baffled at how unreliable the power management is as relates to standby. Reading through this subreddit, I understand these issues persist among several generations of devices, and I am not the only one affected. How Lenovo and Microsoft (and AMD?) have not ironed this out is beyond me.
My issues are as follows:
1. Sleep is never a guaranteed state, sometimes my device will sleep but will still run operations while in transit, leading to overheating and battery drain. I understand this is a consequence of MS modern standby, and is not necessarily the fault of Lenovo. Doesn't matter whose fault it is, it's unacceptable. This should NEVER happen while the battery is unplugged and the device is in transit.
2. Related to above: battery drain is unpredictable, and often the battery will drain a significant amount while in standby.
3. FREEZING AND CRASHING when waking from standby. This happens unpredictably as well, as sometimes the standby will recover and I can get back to my desktop without issue. Sometimes the system freezes and it lasts a few seconds, other times it BSOD's. It's a dice roll, and this is UNACCEPTABLE in this business device.
4. While on battery and plugged in, my device will shut itself off entirely while sleeping. I often keep the device docked and place it in standby to find it completely shut off the next morning.
I am on the latest BIOS, with the latest drivers installed for AMD chipset/graphics, and if anything, the behavior has gotten more erratic as time has moved on. No amount of driver/BIOS combinations work to standardize the behavior to make it easier to troubleshoot. I have tried all the basic troubleshooting steps: clean reinstall, fast boot disabled, changing power plans, etc.
Last Lenovo laptop my household will ever own. I honestly cannot fathom how these issues are possible from such a major vendor.

My max-spec x280: 1080p touchscreen, i7-8650u, 16GB ram, SK hynix Platinum 2TB nvme, a 2nd 500GB nvme drive in the WWAN slot, NFC-enabled glass touchpad meant for a 5th gen X1 Carbon, and a low-profile USB-C cable + GaN charger. I've been using it to make AI restorations of old animation/cartoons.

Immortal ?
My cat spilled a glass of water on my thinkpad L14 gen1 (open and unplugged) during the night, and it’s been soaking for a few hours already.
Computer seems fine for the moment (still working, keyboard ok), I shut it down (the computer, not the cat), opened the cover and put it upside down on paper towels to let it dry throughout the day.
Anything else I should do ? Apart from never having glasses of water around it 🤡

Is this a good price for a ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 AMD
Price is in Euro Germany. Currently owning a T14 Gen 3 with 16gb ram and 1245u. The reason i want to upgrade is, that i use a dual 4k monitor setup, which i feel like is too much for the igpu of the 1245u. i am using fedora linux and do mostly programming. i dont mind the soldered ram since the 7840u would benefit of it and i have plenty of ssds at home. But i am not sure about the low power display if it makes a difference.

Once again grappling between thinkpad design vs the power of a gaming laptop
So I'm on the verge of re-buying a T14s gen 4 AMD after sending my previous one back. The asus G14 I was looking at about a month ago is also on sale, albeit more expensive than the thinkpad by about 120ish dollars. Spent some time at best buy poking and prodding at it.
I'm moving a lot between home, grad school and work. The thinkpad handles the school/work no problem. I'm aware of the "vocal minority" syndrome that every product to ever exist has, but I don't think it's a coincidence that asus gaming laptops have no shortage of issues cropping up compared to thinkpads. Plus, I've used thinkpads for a long time. I like thinkpads, not much else to say on that.
I don't want to build a desktop or lug around a gaming laptop, but I would like to enjoy some games at smooth medium instead of "barely playable" for once. Fully aware thinkpads aren't gaming machines, but the 7840u literally has the same igpu as the gaming laptop. Has anyone explored what the realistic limit is, or if there's going to be serious throttling issues? There's a few benchmarks, but I don't have a point of reference since my T480s can't even try to run most games. The folks in the gaming computer subs seem to overestimate my standards, hoping to hear the thinkpad perspective.

tl;dr If the new T14s can game comfortably at native resolution medium for majority of games, I'll stick to thinkpad. I'm happy just getting to try stuff. If it's just going to be a minimum settings struggle all over again like my T480s, I may take the leap of faith. How do any of the casual thinkpad gamers here feel about it?
