I messed with it all day, burned six recovery CDs, got the gosh darned mSATA adapter to fit, reinstalled everything, and I now have a working ThinkPad X40 for late 90s early 2000s games! Could use some good game recommendations that will run well on this hardware.

My Dell won’t die, but I want a ThinkPad — anyone else been here?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been seeing tons of ThinkPad posts here lately, and I can’t help but feel tempted to buy one. But I’m torn, and I’d really appreciate some advice.
Here’s my situation:
• I currently use a old 2011 Dell Inspiron N5110. It runs really well with Fedora XFCE — no issues on the Linux side.
• I’ve dual-booted Windows 7 on it, but it can’t run anything higher than that — no Windows 10 or 11. So it’s kind of stuck in the past on the Windows side.
• My main work happens on my office PC anyway, so I may not get a lot of time to use my personal laptop.
• Despite that, I find myself spending too much time browsing deals online, watching ThinkPad videos, and reading Reddit posts like this one. Searching a lot about T14 Amd, T490 refurbs.
So I’m wondering:
Do I really need a ThinkPad, or is this just a case of tech crush + FOMO? Should I wait for the Dell to truly be unusable or just go ahead and treat myself?
Anyone been in a similar situation? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Edit: the dell is i5 2nd gen, 8 gb ram and weigh 2.5Kg. Its just an HD model with 15 inch display.
I like linux but have kept Windows in case required.
I’m a data scientist and not into gaming. I was working fully on linux.
