PTM7950 Should be the standard already
It's hilarious how ThinkPads still use shitty thermal paste.
Even if it's applied properly in the factory, which often isn't case, it dries out in like 3 months anyways.
My 7840u, which used to be silent the first weeks started to get extremely annoying. The fan started spinning just by watching YouTube videos.
I didn't want to use PTM immediately because I'm not comfortable with tampering with brand new devices, but now I told myself to do it immediately in the future.
After using PTM7950, I can run prime95 for a few minutes before the fan even kicks in.
And I assume that the PTM7950 I used isn't even a genuine one.
PTM7950 isn't just better performance wise, it even lasts like forever since it won't dry or pump out.

I have a maximum budget of 500 euros and I’m looking to buy a refurbished laptop. My main use will be for video and music editing software. I used to have a Mac, but this time I’d prefer to go with either an ASUS or a ThinkPad. What do you think of these options? Among ThinkPads, which generation is the most reliable for a refurbished model? Since I’m opting for a refurbished device, I’d like it to be durable and dependable. Your advice would be greatly appreciated."
