ThinkPad P51 - buy Xeon or i7?
It's time for me to buy a ThinkPad P51 because it's solid and has the keyboard I want. I won't be using graphics-heavy apps, but I would like to run Windows 11 (and I know that I have to jump through a few hoops to install it).
Question: for the sake of stability and future updates, should I choose a Xeon or Intel i7 machine? In the early days of W11, there were posts indicating that W11 was unstable on Xeon machines, but I'd be grateful for any insights into the current state of things.

IDK if this is the right subreddit to ask this, but I'm looking to replace my 1st gen i7 desktop with a thinkcentre machine. Specifically the M83, not the SFF, the big tower with a core i5. Where can I find them?

I guess I'm a collector now.
I've had an x230t for years. Love it. Have abused it. It's an i5 model. Couple years back, I found an immaculate and fully upgraded i7-equipped x230 on offer up for a "without hesitation" buy price. They both have a place in my world. 2 Docks, one in each of my two work areas, extra charger in my always-ready carry on bag. Love these little laptops.
I recently reinstalled Offer Up, looking for some other unrelated and antiquated tech product. Ended up finding it on househood name auction site instead, and offer up just quietly hung out as an overlooked background activity.
Then it pinged me with an unexpected notification the other day. "Offer Up: New items matching your saved search 'w530'." An immaculate specimen, 32Gigs, TB SSD, 2 Docks, 3 Chargers, an extra battery even. 100 bucks was an "I'm free now, can you meet in 20 minutes" price.
Not quite sure how this big boi is going to integrate into my life, but it'll find a role.
And now I need to find a T430, so that I can say that I've batted for the cycle with the 30 series. And I'll probably keep my eye out for an immaculate i7 x230t, because I reach for that machine the most, and mine is a little rough at this point.
So, I guess I hoard old thinkpads now. Should I put that on my dating profiles?

What exactly went wrong within Lenovo?
Why was powerbridge ditched? Why was the ThinkLight ditched in favour of a backlit keyboard? Why was the 7-row keyboard layout ditched? Why was the comfortable curved palrest ditched? What's with the obsession with shedding every possible bit of thickness?
I absolutely hate the 6-row layout and the modern keyboard. The layout sucks and keys aren't as good as the old keyboards. And the obsession with thinness just leads to the whole thing being flimsy.
