Rate my T430
Hello.
I've had my trusty T430 (type 2349H2G) for 8 years now. First I used it mainly for university, fieldwork and just personal stuff. I'ts been a secondary PC for many years now half of the time as a multimedia device connected to TV, but lately I decided to tinker with it and upgrade it for fun. Upgraded the CPU and RAM, did a repaste, HD caddy, new touchpad sticker. At one point I thought of getting me a T480, but I still think the T430 is an amazing machine and it's still very snappy for everyday average use. Also gave it a scrub, and the top cover looks very nice and sparkly now.
CPU: I7-3612QM (originally had I7-3520M)
RAM: DDR3L 16 GB (8+8 GB) 1600 MhZ, PC3-12800 (originally had 4+4 GB).
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 256 GB + HDD Caddy for 500 GB HDD (originally had only HDD)
GPU: Nvidia NVS 5400M
Display: 1600x900 HD+ TN panel (original, thought about upgrading it to IPS, but I'm fine with it)
Network card: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (original, it allows for 5Ghz too)
Battery; 57Wh (lasts around 3-4 hours)
Windows 10.
Backlit keyboard (don't want the T420 keyboard as I like this more).
Anyway just wanted to share my love for the T430 as I'm really happy with it. I wonder for how many more years this beast will last. You can rate it if you like or suggest stuff, give tips etc.

What would I miss by installing Linux?
I just got my new ThinkPad p14s gen5 after a decade of using a chromebook.
For the moment I'm staying with win11, the ThinkPad has enough oomph to run wsl. And steam just works. But I'm curious what I would lose by fully going to Linux. Google drive works no fuss on the chromebook. The threads are mostly "Microsoft bad doggy".
