Urban Neighborhood. Feeding and Cat Safety Questions
Hi Everyone! I'm new and so happy to have found you all.
I live in a city neighborhood where I feed birds, squirrels, wild turkeys, stray cats...so I'm definitely on the dark side. 😂
A family of Racoons found food left for some stray cats.
Have read through the posts so now know the basics of Racoon care and precautions.
My remaining question is this. I have two of my own cats. One is abnormally small. The size of a Baby Racoon. They are in/outdoor cats and sometimes out at night. This morning I opened the door to find both cats laying at the backdoor and and a family of racoons scrambling up my tree.
Should I be concerned that a Racoon could scratch, bite or transmit anything?
I know hungry Racoons will go after newborn kittens. Since one of mine is so small, I am a bit concerned.

Hey there! I have some questions.
So, let me preface this: I don't hate raccoons. I understand how one could find them cute, but I've got a particularly feisty one pestering my bird feeder at the moment.
By feisty I mean this one is... Rather obese, probably been fed by humans for a while now. He followed me through my yard, looking for handouts, and then straight up snarled at me when I went to remove my (now empty) bird feeder. He's drained it three times and broken it. He pulls it off the stand and pulls the camera out. It's an expensive feeder. I did have to spray him with a bottle to get him to quit following me around, he almost came inside my home!
For his own sake and his concerning weight, is there anything I can sprinkle on the bird seed to keep him from chowing down on the whole thing, while waiting for my baffle to arrive? I hear they don't like the scent of cayenne pepper?
