Ranting about AniTwitter's Reaction to the Latest Trash Taste Episode.
So in the most recent episode of Trash Taste (for future reference, Episode 195, timestamp 00:38:00 to 00:38:40), the boys were asked the question "Anime's success depends on its animation quality" and breezing past their actual answers, Connor made this off comment saying-
>"Do you ever think there's this weird phenomenon now with shows that get really hype that the animation gets better as the show gets more hype? ............ I wonder if the animators go harder because they know how popular this show is. Because its different right? Back then, normally a good chunk of it [anime\] is animated before its ever seen, now its week by week. So if you know you're gonna be seen by a fuck ton of people-"
I omitted and trimmed some bits, but this is pretty much what he said... And I'm not sure what its like to you guys or the broader twitter community. But man, AniTwitter's reaction to this was so- weird? I hope this is really just one post that ended up in my feed and there's nothing else like it outside of that, but there were so many negative comments about how the boys know nothing about animation and how they're "Spreading misinformation" and we got one account going "TT is the worst thing to happen to the anime podcast community part #469," And I'm just left scratching my head like, seriously?
For the record, in the case of Frieren, Connor's statement is just flat out wrong. He doesn't know what he's talking about and there's no way something like Frieren or any anime really can start and finish production in a week by week basis. It's impossible. What makes Frieren good is the insane staff coupled with a (relatively) healthy work schedule. Any and all of Frieren's episodes started production way before the anime even came out and the skill of the animators plus the planning plus the time given made the final product as good as it is. Any and all possible "Animation Quality increased a week after after the popularity jumped" is just a coincidence. In saying that, anyone with a working braincell would know to not take Connor's word seriously. We can assume due to the current climate of anime production being so shit that Connor thought Frieren finishes episodes week by week (finishes, not start to finish), that he'd assume the same applies to Frieren, but even then, it's impossible for any anime to just change the story boarding and "level up" the key animation the week before airing.
The boys stated on multiple occasions that Trash Taste is all about the boys saying random shit and having casual conversations about whatever the hell they want. And that's the major appeal to a lot of us. We don't care whether they're right or wrong, we're just there to listen to three people talk like genuine friends and that's okay. That's the appeal. Anyone who geos there to look for an insightful and objective look in the anime industry are in the wrong place for that.
Connor isn't even taking the thing seriously. But the reception there is almost like the boys can't even have a casual (fun) conversation about anything anymore. Imagine walking on eggshells because you don't want to say anything wrong or spread misinformation. I doubt we'd enjoy that and I doubt they would either.
This really is just venting. Some posts are calling them fake, some calling them clowns, and some other things. And- seriously? If they wanted to have an objective deep dive into the inner workings of the anime industry, they could absolutely do that, but they don't need to cause again, that's not the appeal of the show for us and for them. Also there was one tweet that was like "They should just stick to giving shitty food takes instead of talking about anime," with what I assume the reason being the boys not knowing enough about anime production to give a well constructed opinion, but like- isn't this exactly how the food takes go? Except this time the topic is anime instead of food.

I'm 90% sure Connor is actually more right than Twitter is giving him credit for?
So Connor's quote was
> I wonder if the animators go harder because they know how popular this show is. Because its different right? Back then, normally a good chunk of it [anime\] is animated before its ever seen, now its week by week.
Like obviously the "week by week" part is bs, but most people's response to this is a huge case of confidently incorrect?
I assumed most people were operating under the assumption that though episodes weren't started on a week by week basis, many were finished after the show began airing, but i've seen a few comments here and there that've thrown that into question as well.
but its mildly funny that its frieren of all shows being talked about since there is actually a non-zero chance the overwhelmingly positive reception of this show served as an almost "additional" source or motivation for the production team? pre holiday break episodes seems to have largely finished before the season premier, but best I can tell the second cour was still heavily in production. even the first exam arc was outsourced to the Yumeta Company so Keiichiro Saito's team could focus on the rest of the season: https://twitter.com/kei\_globster/status/1755976883265819114. doesn't seem like severe crunch or anything, don't get me wrong, but an efficient production plan for sure.
basically, connor's speculation isn't completely stupid, until his brain farts at the last sentence. if the general point is that positive reception can influence a good show to be slightly better i don't actually think that is entirely stupid? at least it won't be worse than a heavily negative reception to a show.
tldr; maybe im completely wrong, totally down to learn something new. connor is probably right (at least in wondering) up until his complete abomination of a last sentence. twitter is overreacting to the degree of nearly being confidently incorrect.

I think Connor might be too into adult content in this scene

@r_TrashTaste
being brought up was how each of them had already visited an Animation Studio therefore they should know how the production of anime works and that they're spreading misinformation. Again, they're not treating this conversation seriously. And let's say they are, and they end up spreading misinformation- Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but with the majority of trash taste viewers being 18 to 24 years old, I think its well within our responsibility to fact check what the boys say and not take their word like gospel. They've on numerous occasions told us not to take them seriously, and they shouldn't be held responsible for what the (majority of adult) viewers end up believing because of their ultimately meaningless casual conversation.
Luckily there are a good chunk of people defending the boys saying how you're not supposed to take them seriously and people getting so hung up over what Connor says is just doing it cause they either can't take a joke or are only there for elitism points.
I know in situations like this, the best course of action is to just laugh it off or ignore it, but man- this sucks.
That's pretty much all I have to say. It's sad this even became a discussion in the first place. Just wanted a place to vent because dear lord is twitter infested with pretentious snobs. It's cool to joke around about it and laugh at how the boys are misinformed, but some take it way too seriously. If you don't like Trash Taste, that's fine. You know more about animation production? cool. You don't understand why Trash Taste has amassed a large following? Okay. I can't understand why you'd continue sticking around hating a dumb meaningless conversation from a group of friends being casual so much, but sure.

Sucks we were on the train so I couldn’t say hi. I saw her give up her seat to a mother and her stroller. She’s such a sweet person.
This probably doesn’t mean much to the TT crew since they meet so many fans but it would have been nice to talk to them in an appropriate environment.
Been a fan of Akidearest since 2015-16 but fell off. Trash taste reconnected me with her content. I didn’t know she was going out with Joey until I started listening to the podcast
