Thoughts on chests and keys (series)
So I've been wondering on something. How does everybody else feel about chests and keys and do they feel the same way as me
With the series in general they are useful when you are just starting out the game and need good loot and even legendary gear depending on the game
For borderlands 1 I used it a bit but most of the weapons that were red text were side mission reward weapons such as the elephant gun that got me through a lot of the game anyways and whatever legendaries dropped I was also good with (after beating crawmerax) and now that I can beat crawmerax pretty good on my own, the chest keys seem worthless to me. Maybe when I start a new character but since I've already played the game for than once, I know I can just do specific side quests unless I'm doing an allegiance run
For borderlands 2 and the Pre-sequel (especially borderlands 2) they are the most useful to me as once I start getting to UVHM whether normal or allegiance runs, I start to lose my momentum and get stuck in certain areas cuz some of the characters I play worse than others or I'm readjusting after a long period of time and the new gear somewhat scales to what I need to do. The Pre-sequel isn't as bad as enemies only gain more health, not regenerate as well so I can kind of just peak behind cover and wait sometimes if it's that bad
Borderlands 3 is both useful and useless at the same time. In a game where legendaries are abundant, the chest basically acts as if you're mobbing or fighting a boss without the work and just see what you get. Useful for saving time, bad for getting the specific gear you want especially when the loot is mostly the same stuff. The diamond chest is actually useful because you get to choose yourself but it's from a randomized selection that may also have duplicates

since I'm apparently an idiot, here's a scrapped script for New Tales
here it is. There are a few things in there that appear in the actual game (Anu, L0u13, Fran, Rhys, etc.), but most, if not 99% of it is things that have been cut. Credit to tales-from-the-borderblog for finding this.
Now you might ask why someone would be interested in New Tales, since even mentioning that game here is pure heresy. Well, there's some very interesting details inside, ones that indicate that maybe New Tales was actually going to have a passable story that asks interesting questions (most notably for me, it was going to hugely humanize the bandits through Stapleface). I highly encourage y'all to read it, because it's a lot.

Trophies
I'm on PS5 so it tracks the progress of trophies, but do I have to do the requisites for the trophies again for it to progress more or do I not have to do the things I did on my old save and can start doing the rest on my new save?

My boyfriend won’t play borderlands with anymore because I said I like Handsome Jack
My boyfriend introduced me to borderlands sometime last year and we’ve been having a lot of fun playing it together. A week or so ago I mentioned, admittedly a little drunk, that I find Handsome Jack kind of sexy and I’ve had a crush on him since we started bl2. My boyfriend got really upset about this and now he refuses to play with me.
We even got through like half of true vault hunter mode and he doesn’t even flirt with the idea of playing the game anymore. I defended myself my saying stuff along the lines of “he’s literally written to be that kind of character that female players have a crush on” and he doesn’t believe it. I don’t understand why he’s so upset about a video game character?
I think that Handsome Jack is one of those characters you’re SUPPOSED to have a crush on…I mean he’s handsome, isn’t he? and his whole villain personality i feel is portrayed in a kind of alluring way. I feel like I should just apologize because I don’t think he’s going to understand my POV anytime soon…but I guess I just wanted to vent and I have nobody else to talk to about this. Dunno if this is a cringy post or not. Sorry if it is.

Rubberized grenade mechanics
I have some questions that I couldn't find exact details over regarding rubberized grenades.
The in-game description says that each bounce increases explosion damage and radius. Is the damage and radius listed on the card the initial starting damage & radius, or is it the max that it can build up to? Any info on the damage and radius of the other bounces (e.g. starts out 25% smaller than what's listed, ends up doing 15% more damage than what's listed, etc.) How many times will it bounce before the final detonation? Is there a set maximum number or is it on a timer or something else I'm missing? When I test out purples in a mostly empty room, I seem to usually get four bounces, but sometimes I'm getting five.
Also, does it activate all of its detonation effects on each individual bounce, or are the payload effects reserved until its final bounce? I seem to get conflicting results -- When I test out a "jumping" grenade, the jump effect appears to only affect the first bounce. Sticky effects seem to trigger on each bounce. Singularities only seem to trigger on the final bounce, so I'm a bit confused by the inconsistency. If it has something like a "link" augment, would the links be specific to each bounce, or could enemies be linked over the course of multiple bounces? In some ways it seems to function the same as a grenade with a "bouncy" augment, but then other augments are only triggered on a single bounce with no obvious rhyme or reason for the differences.
I'd greatly appreciate any details on the specifics of rubberized grenades' damage, radius and detonation effects, as I only seem to be finding very general descriptions in my searches and my methods of collecting data on this are unfortunately a bit limited.

Questions and feelings about the opening of the game
So ive beaten BL3 once, and I wanted to try it again. Maybe engage with all the endgame content this time.
First I just gotta say, dear god youtube ONLY has videos about the endgame content, NOTHING about building a character to GET to the endgame stuff. And maybe it doesnt really matter but when im only seeing stuff about level 72, its hard to think about the climb TO 72.
But when I started the game I realized how SLOW this opening is. How do you get yourself through it without being bored to tears? Like we all know the story is bad but all the slow walking, talking, Ive barely had a chance to shoot a gun in 30 minutes of playing.

Moze Action Skill DPS feels way ahead of gun power late-game
I'm pretty late into BL3 (Normal Difficulty) and just took down one of the Calypso twins. I've noticed that my action skill DPS is way ahead of my guns. Iron Bear just absolutely melts health bars, while my guns, even some of the legendaries, feel like they’re barely doing anything against the bosses.
I kinda miss how BL2 felt more like a dogfight. I played as Axton and the turret helped but it never was the main damage dealer. Rocket launchers and solid guns actually felt impactful, and fights felt more back-and-forth.
In BL3, it feels as if most bosses just absorb bullets until Iron Bear steps in and deletes them. Regular enemies go down fine with guns, but bosses? Maybe 2-3 have been challenging even with Iron Bear.
The only other time my guns felt useless late-game was fighting the Empyrean Sentinel from TPS, which I only managed to beat because I had a rare Gatling gun with good stats that hard carried the whole fight.
Anyone else feel this way?

BL4 Music/Soundtrack
Don’t get me wrong, bl4 looks like the best one yet. Everything from the scenery, vault hunters, guns, skins, bosses, customizations, etc all look incredible.
But one thing that stood out to me in all of the trailers and gameplay revealed is the music. I loved the music from bl2, those were some really nice tunes.
In bl4 however, the music from the maps jn the gameplay sounded a bit repetitive to me even in the boss fights. In bl2, whenever you fought a boss (captain flynt for example) the music would change a lot and made it really feel like a boss fight. Did anyone else notice this?

Borderlands movie.
I know this has been discussed here and there but I wanted to give my 2 cents. OH GOOD GOD!!!!!! I've been playing the Borderlands series since the start, have all the DLC's, everything. So I've seen all the bad reviews and such but I wanted to at least give it a chance. OH GOOD GOD!!!!! There are very few movies that I just can't get through, like maybe 2. OH GOOD GOD!!!! I made it to where they meet Moxie. I had to stop...... OH HOLY SHIT. If it was possible to fu$# up a movie more I'm not sure how. In the future I think they should use this movie as a torture method, but then you would probably be in violation of at least 4 Geneva conventions rules for cruel torture and crimes against humanity.

Where is everyone getting this from?
I keep seeing it everywhere regarding criticism of the DLC for BL4. Why are people saying they're turning cut content into DLC or locking content behind DLC? I see no source for this wherever I look. Is this another narrative being pushed or is it true? At it's core, it's the same DLC they've always done. The traditional story DLC, the return of DLC characters and Headhunters. What's so different or being locked behind money this time?

How to go about end game efficiently?
I just finished the main story and I'm a little confused with how to continue. I have the ultimate edition and planned on doing a second playthrough since I skipped DLC the first time because I was advised to hit max level because of some DLC rewards. But I had no idea mayhem existed and scaled all the enemies to my level.
Should I try farm xp on mayhem 1 to get to level 72 then work on increasing my mayhem level while doing the DLC? How long does working my way up mayhem take? Should I replay the game on a higher diff with mayhem both active?

Do people actually dislike the Bearcat???
Edit: thank you to the people who taught me that Mayhem is NOT going to just be "the game as-is but with bigger numbers and a few twists"! I'll enjoy my beloved Bearcat while it lasts, then retire it.
Various old threads on this subreddit are full of comments saying the Bearcat is bad and I truly can't understand why. The only reason I've seen is that the grenades spread out too much, but that's* *why I use the gun*.
Every time I approach a new encounter, I carpet bomb the area and inflict cryo (helpful for Zane) or radiation on every single enemy in sight. Then I pick off a couple of survivors with my Omniloader, reload, then switch back to Bearcat and repeat for any new enemies that appear. When I'm fighting just one enemy (making carpet bombing impractical), I just switch to another weapon. So easy.
What am I missing? I've only just started True Vault Hunter mode, so maybe it completely uses its utility after some point I haven't reached yet.
