The recent lore books have glaring issues that should've been fixed before publication. What's going on? Chronicles & Dragonflight Codex

I wish this wasn't the case, but something's been off about the quality of stories & lore published in recent literary media to do with WoW.

From the recent Chronicles Volume 4 referring to us as "players" (remember when these books were supposed to be written from the perspective of the Titans?) and strangely retconning BfA so that the Kul Tiran events happen before the Horde events (which is even stranger for Jaina's story), to the Dragonflight Codex that was supposed to be written by Khadgar, and yet claims that Illidain was in league with Sargeras - after Khadgar had so earnestly worked with Illidain during Legion and knew that he had always been fighting Sargeras from the get go.

Video about Dragonflight Codex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee-OHrMZZ6Y
Video about the Chronicles Vol 4's flaws: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8C3VjL7P8

Neither of these make the books unreadable per se. But it's disheartening to see the lack of attention to the lore details. I feel like re-reads and edits could fix these issues but it seems to not have happened with these books (or worse, these issues were allowed anyways).

Please Blizzard, do better with your lore books. You are more than capable of it.

Reminder for the remix altoholics about bags now the event is 2/3 complete.

I know you've got 20 (or 40?) timerunner alts waiting for an invasion of old raids for mog. Just don't forget to buy 7 of these https://www.wowhead.com/item=216653/timerunners-satchel

They're 10 bronze each and you'll use them to populate your bank slots. It doesn't matter if you haven't got enough gold to buy the slots, buy them anyway.

You have 31 days left to remember to log onto each alt and do this.

[edit\] no guarantee that Blizz will let you keep them but hey, its 70 bronze.

I just played through Legion for the first time

I’ve been going through class hall quests to unlock appearances for my Ashbringer and doing quests to unlock Argus for transmog runs and I just got to the Illidan “I AM MY SCARS” cutscene and… wow.

I can’t believe I didn’t play this expansion when this was out. I’ve been playing since vanilla and missed a few expansions but Legion has been incredible so far. Even though I completely out level all of the content it has been so much fun. Arriving to Argus on the Vindicaar was awesome.

This is probably the closest I’ve actually paid attention to a story line since playing World of Warcraft. I really wish we could get another expansion like this so I could play through it while it’s current. I can see why it is so highly praised now.

Newbie in Retail! DK or Monk? Would love to hear opinions <3

Good morning!

I played Retail back in the day with Legion, although I mainly completed the story quests and not much else. I returned in November 2023 with the release of SoD. My character has been a warlock all this time, and I've enjoyed it a lot, but now I've almost completely lost interest in continuing to play. That’s why I want to enjoy the new retail expansion from its release.

Since I’ve played a ranged DPS in classic, I’d like to give melee DPS/tank a try in this new adventure. The problem is that, im not experienced enough in WoW and sadly i cannot play many hours in trying out various classes, so I have doubts about which class to choose. That’s why I’d like to know the opinion of those of you who have been playing for many years.

Initially, I leveled a Warrior to 80. I enjoyed playing it, but I've read in many places that it’s a class that can become tiresome over time. That’s why, after reading patches/watching videos of what’s coming, I'm considering making a Monk or a DK. Both can be either DPS or tank, although I'll mainly focus on the DPS specs.

What do you think of DK frost/unholy and the new Monk WW?

Of course, I’ll end up playing the one I like the most. I’d just like to hear the viewpoints of those who have played them for a while. It seems that the new WW is super fun (although I don’t really understand much of what it does since that class doesn’t exist in classic, hehe). On the other hand, the DK has an incredible aesthetic; they say the Frost spec will be great, and the Blood DK also seems very fun to play.

I’d be delighted to read your opinions in the comments.

Thank you very much to everyone who interacts!! <333

What class feels the worst to level?

Since remix is a thing and you can level a character to max in one sitting now, I'm wondering what to use my lvl 70 boost on.

I was a very casual player back in late WoD and Legion so I am a novice and would like a bit of explanation too

Why are 3 mans worse than randoms??

i am a druid tank and i always set up my own mythic+ keys most of the times i would get randoms but sometimes i would get a 3 stack of people signing up, usually you would think that getting a 3 stack would be better off because they would obviously be in a call or something.

BUT EVERY TIME I ACCEPT A 3 STACK THEY ALWAYS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FECK THEY ARE DOING AND THEN LEAVE AFTER ONE WIPE JUST BECAUSE THEY CANT KILL SOME FECKIN CRYSTALS (they were a 3 stack of dps)

just needed to vent this happens too many times for it to be a coincidence...

How do I have 40 pages of cape transmogs and not a single one looks good?

when are they going to figure out that real capes go over your shoulders? is it really too hard for them to figure out how to not mess with your shoulder mog that they come out with 40 pages of dogshit looking capes?

This ended up turning into an offtopic rant but here goes:

In fact, why are there only a handful of good transmogs across the millions of expansions? Why is the only mmo my game lags on even though it has the worst spell animations and the worst graphics. Tindral was like unplayable until i turned all my graphics to 1 and disabled half my addons and weakauras. and it's not just me, it was everyone who had this problem. it's not a computer problem it's a game problem.

I feel like the only thing that keeps me coming back to this game is compared to other games, there are more buttons and a deeper level of a rotational system, but everything else about it sucks. Bad mogs, bad graphics, bad animations.

Restored a deleted character, instantly got one of the rarest mounts

I had a demon hunter that I used to farm the grey riding camel on. Gave up my search a long time ago and ended up deleting him at some point. Today I randomly restored him to check his bags for a lost pet and he was still in Uldum with one of the camel figurines literally right next to him. Feel like I just won the lottery lol

With pre-patch looming, can we appreciate Dragonflight never having a bad period?

I see a lot of discourse that Dragonflight wasn't the best expansion ever, and I don't disagree, but looking back on it, I think Dragonflight has been without a doubt one of the most consistent expansions at providing a good experience at all times.

BFA and Shadowlands both had strong launches followed by an entire expansion cycle of ignoring player feedback, making poor changes and overloading players with necessary content. They also failed to tell meaningful stories in the long term.

Dragonflight on the other hand has consistently delivered good content. They have taken player feedback on board and made responsive changes. The story telling has been flaky as an expansion but they've really nailed some of the smaller story lines. The .5 and .7 patches have added some great side content that never felt necessary but practically all felt fun to me.

Even great expansions like MoP and Legion had critical flaws that we overlook because of the heights they otherwise reached, but I can't honestly look at Dragonflight and say "Oh yeah that piece of content had a major critical flaw." It was just all well above average. Rarely was it great, but it was all good, satisfying content, and I hope this continues into TWW.

Edit: To expand on this, from a purely PvE perspective.

Raids, as always, have been great. I really enjoyed Aberruss personally, I think it was a phenomenal raid with stand out visual design and mechanics that was mired with being too easily precisely because the encounters were designed in such a telegraphed, readable way. My only wish is to see a few mini-raids return for .5 patches perhaps?

Dungeons have been good across the board. Few will be memorable, but I can't say there's any true stinkers like Motherlode!!! or Mists of Tirna Scithe (so help me this better be chaned in TWW Season 1). The crest system update has been an amazing way to reinvigorate M+, make it worthwhile playing with your friends/guildies in lower keys, and this is the first expansion I've had the drive to push 2k rating and portals every season. I loved the 4/4 mixed dungeon set up where we revisit old expansions.

World content has generally been great. I really loved the Forbidden Reach and feel it really got cut short being a .7 patch released weeks before Zaralek. Zaralek had it's issues with the rares being too strong but that has been course corrected at least. Suffusion Camps are pretty nice little self-contained world content, and Dream Surges are great for alts. I LOVE Time Rifts. Despite it being the exact same setting every spawn, the diversity in objectives, enemies and that community feeling of the rifts is great. Tonnes of amazing rewards for me too. Superblooms and Seeds were fun for 2 weeks, but otherwise I feel the Emerald Dream was a bit of let down. I hope they revisit Bel'Ameth especially and actually upgrade it to a true capital city eventually.

This has been one of, if not, the most alt friendly expansion since WotLK. My god have altoholics had it good. Fast alt rep (which isn't even necessary), great catchup systems, a real variety of ways to level however you want. TWW is taking this even further with War Bands and I'm so glad to see that.

Hell, even reps had great aspects to them. Zone events, good world quests, hand-ins for farmers. A real overhaul after world quest farming.

Lastly, the Dragon Isles are a real visual treat with some fantastic zones. Music, landscapes, colours. Great. Azure Span is my new Grizzly Hills, and the Kalecgos storyline was fantastic, as was the patch blue dragonflight stuff.

Was anyone else super disappointed by Alexstrasza in Dragonflight?

Start of the expansion she's this badass dragon, great new look, and I was hyped for it. Then she just kind of does the Winter Queen thing with this super flat slow talking whenever she's on screen, like she's not actually all that invested in what's going on. I really just think it was a majorly missed opportunity. Maybe after Sylvanas they just didn't want anyone to care about a strong woman lead again?
