huge cooldown reduction in your overload ability. Of these subspecs, I'd recommend either:

Crystallized

Most common empowered herb, so the more you gather from this, the more often you'll get that huge cooldown reduction to your overload ability

Maxing this out will give your overload crystallized herbs a chance to give you extra crstalline powder

Irradiated

Second most common empowered herb, so the more you gather from this, the more often you'll get that huge cooldown reduction to your overload ability

Empowering an irradiated herb give you the ability to duplicate the basic form of the next herb you cast the ability on. Maxing out the irradiated tree will duplicate an additional herb. So if you overloaded an irradiated herb, then casted duplication of that same herb, youd have 1 empowered herb, and two basic forms of it. This would feed into when you actually start specializing in a particular basic herb, at the point when you're getting more chances for Null Lotus from that respective herb.

Pathing:

To preface, you can get all the basic skills of every main specialization without dropping a single knowledge point. These are gapped at every 25 levels of skill. Once you choose your first specialization at level 25, you'll be stuck there until you get 50 skill in herbalism, allowing you to learn your next spec, and so on at 75.

With that, I'd recommend starting with botany. Starting with this specialization gives you the basic skill that returns 1 vigor every time you gather an herb. If you're trying to speed to 100, or just be efficient, then you'll want this because you are constantly mounting up, then dismounting in short intervals to harvest.

Route for specialization:

Botany(no kp) to level 50>Overloading the Underground(no kp)to 75, then bountiful harvest

Your skill is going to be so low at this timeframe, that the lack of extra skill wont make any difference between getting R2 or R3 herbs, so what you want is the vigor returns, and reduced cooldown on overloading at the start.

Once youre at 100(which doesnt even take a few hours), and with some KP from all the first time picks, you can start dropping your KP.

Route for KP

BH to max(40)>OtU to max(40)

From here you can branch off to doing botany(10) to cultivation(max/40), or maxing out an OtU subspec like crystallized or irradiated. Or you can specialize in a basic herb to max for that increased chance at Null Lotus. They will be required for flasks, and consumes are always in demand at the start of an expansion.

Of course you can ask any questions, cheers!

Having Iron fur as a general class talent is a terrible design choice, makes no sense and detrimental to new Guardian tanks.

So I've been going through all of my healer alts recently, and I have observed that druid tanks have a really hard time staying alive when they are new or inexperienced. It can be said for all tanks, but druids especially sticks out as it happens very often at lower levels.

First I thought it was just that they were tuned badly, that it was some build thing or it was just hard. But then I had a few that I never had to heal and I had a closer look at why the others were dying. Every time I had one that got chunked it was the same thing, no or very little iron fur usage.

For example. Last night I ran a +4 Uld on my resto druid with a 501 bear as a tank. He got absolutely chunked the entire run. He died twice with a full array of hots on him + iron bark. When I looked at buff uptime and didn't even see iron fur there I told him to start using it. After a lot of begging he eventually managed to have about 1 application going with around 30% uptime.

Since my own druid has about the same gear (498), I decided to go do the same dungeon at the same level with the same setup as him to see what the difference would be. I started the dungeon playing like him, prioritizing rage usage for raze for absorb, and same as him I got recked by everything. When I then shifted to spending all the rage on iron fur and only using raze with free procs, I basically stopped taking damage.

The difference is so massive and really shows how important iron fur is, which makes me wonder. Why is it even in the class tree?

Any other tank has their main mitigation either in the tank tree or baseline, which makes it very clear to any new player that it is something they should use. The whole idea of stacking layers of it is also an issue I think, cause it does not seem to be clear to people that you kinda have to. I see so many just have 1 layer max.

The more I think about it, the less sense it makes, and seeing it is still there in the TWW really annoys me. At least it is on the 3rd row instead of 4th, but that does not really fix the problem.

Also, when is it ever used by any other spec? You first have to go bear, then get 40 rage, and even then it is just against physical damage as it is armor. I don't see anyone doing that outside very niche situations or maybe PvP. Do any of you guys do this?

I think it would be better if it was just baseline or part of the Guardian tree. Or just removed/redesigned so it is not something obligatory for survival when tanking. As it is now, it looks more like an optional thing, which is not the case.

Player duels outside Org and Stormwind are a staple of WoW that everyone can enjoy, even non-PvPers. As a community, for TWW, we should try to find a dueling spot in the next expansion that is a convenient spot everyone can enjoy. There were missed opportunities in DF. Let's get TWW right.

What is your “this is my moment” in wow?

I had a random memory pop up from legion playing my prot pally. We were on heroic Argus and the group had basically wiped. A few mages managed to survive with their ice block. I lived with my bubble. They all went down with the boss still at about 30%. Everyone in the chat spamming to just wipe. Few saying to just kick me from the group and get a new tank. I thought if I timed my cds right then I could probably whittle his health down. I had a nifty legendary: Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus. Gives you a shield every 30seconds. So using that and my cds it took maybe 8-10min to get the job done but at 10% health remaining everyone went from "just wipe" to "KEEP GOING!". I wish I had recorded that fight because I just let him kill me at 2%. (Kidding) I did manage to kill him and it totally was one of my favorite "this is my moment" times in my time playing wow.

TWW 150 KP Herbalism - Sharing my thoughts

Hello, I'm currently putting in hours on the beta exploring the most effective pathing for knowledge points in herbalism for launch. I have about 40 hours played so far, and at the making of this post the beta has been live for a week, so Id like to say its a respectable amount of time. Ive done the same thing with the DF beta, but I definitely didn't predict the where the cash would be and pathed quicker than most, but incorrectly.

I currently have 150 KP in herbalism, and ill break down every specialization and sub-spec

Bountiful Harvest(40)

+45 skill to all herbs

Enables R1 to R2 and R2 to R3 refining for all herbs

My thoughts: This will be my first spec to max out. At DF launch those with R3 raw materials were raking in the dough because every crafter wanted the best materials to push their skill as high as possible for R5 crafts.

Each subspec under BH will just increase your skill with that particular herb, allow your finesse procs to pull more herbs, and allows you to gather null lotus more often.

Botany(30)

Grants finesse to all herb gathers

Allows gathering while mounted

Restores vigor on herb gather

My thoughts: That vigor on gather is necessary for keeping the downtime as minimal as possible. If you dont have this, you'll be spending alot of time grounded, waiting for vigor to replenish.

Cultivation(20)

Grants perception with all herb gathers

Allows collection of verdant seeds (elemental herbs)

My thoughts: Exactly like cultivation from DF. I really like collecting and playing around with seeds in DF beta, but I got bamboozled after the nerfed the soil spawns in the emerald sanctuary. There was just not enough soil to keep up with the supply of seeds. TWW beta currently addressed this, making a farm with soil plots all over (kinda like the farm in MoP), this farm in located at Hallowfall. If soil can match seeds supply, this can be very lucrative as empowered herbs/mines are the sole source of Leyline Residue, Viridescent Spores, Writhing Sample, and Crystalline Powder, which are your TWW rousing equivalents. They are used by all professions, and will be in high demand.

Mulching(20)

Enables Green Thumb ability - doubles your herbs gathered on your next pick. 1 hr cd, and no way to lower cooldown, unlike the overload empowered herb ability

Allows creation of mulch - mulch is a soulbound item when used, increases finesse on your next herb gather. Mulch is created from herbs equivalent to the rank of mulch you're making. Magical mulch(R1) needs 5 herbs for one craft(any rank will do)

Magical mulch(5 herbs) gives 15 finesse on next gather

Imbued mulch(10 herbs) gives 25 finesse on next gather

Empowered mulch I assume is 15 herbs, and probably 35 finesse? I never finish this one

My thoughts: Trap subspec, its base skill only gives Deftness on Lush herb nodes, you don't even get deftness for all gathers, just lush. Deftness I also feel is the trashiest stat too, so Id recommend avoiding this one like the plague. Green thumb wont do much unless your at a high enough skill to get R3 herbs, in which the double gathering would be nice. And the mulch just seems crappy, one time small finesse bump, and for the cost of herbs, which will be gold lost for a chance at herbs. It may be adjusted, but as it stands, its very bad.

Overloading the Underground(40)

Lowers cooldown of the overload empowered herb ability by 30 minutes every time you gather an herb

Gain additional charge of overload

+40 skill to gathering empowered nodes

My thoughts: Second best spec to max after BH, maxing this will give you 40 skill in all specialized nodes. You'll also get additional cooldown reduction per node gather on your overload empowered herb ability. Furthermore, you get the base skills of all the subspecs which reduce the negative effects of gathering such nodes.

Subspecs: All of these are similar like bountiful harvest, in the sense they all increase skill when gathering in that particular node. Instead of getting extra herbs from finess procs, you'll instead get a

Give us back the ability to change the specialization of the pets.

I know this is a recurring topic, I know it's not new, however, with the arrival of the new expansion, it's time to ask that Blizzard allow, as they allowed in Legion, that a hunter can change the specialization of the pet at will, allowing us to have full freedom again to decide which one to fight, and allowing roleplaying without negatively affecting the game experience.

The new affixes are NOT a 10% damage increase over the course of a key.

To preface: I do not like the affixes, and this post is not in defense of the affixes. I think the changes are overall a net negative and am astounded that 6 affixes are being deleted from the game, yet Bolstering and Sanguine somehow made the cut. I am only pointing out the misunderstanding/misinformation that I'm constantly reading in the discussions about these affixes.

Each of the affixes specifies that it affects only mobs that have mana, or mobs that do not have mana, and it does not affect bosses. If we assume that ~50% of the trash in each dungeon has mana, then this means that dealing 10% bonus damage to half of the trash and no bosses would equate to 3-4% overall damage across the course of a key, varying between Tyrannical and Fortified weeks.

This does assume the 50/50 split, which may or may not be true depending on the key, though it is hard to imagine it's more than a 60/40 split in either direction in any key. This also does not take into account the potential double dipping, like Assa rogue getting 10% nature damage and +30% bleed damage at the same time, but that's a separate issue. In most situations for most specs, it would be a 5% damage increase at most and usually less.

For context, 3-5% overall damage is roughly the value you'd get from a raid buff that affects your spec. This does matter, but only at the very highest key levels. It's part of the reason why DH + Mage is such a powerful combo at the top end, Chaos Brand + Arcane Intellect is broken. But at the lower key levels, when's the last time you invited a warrior because you specifically wanted Battle Shout? Have you ever felt bad playing your attack power class because you thought "man I could've done 3-4% more overall damage this key if I just had a warrior in my group"? I very much doubt it.
