My uncle who died recently was an avid WoW player years ago and i want to leave this message to everyone here.
My uncle had a lot of mental health problems, he was diagnosed with OCD and ASPD and recently lost his battle with his mental health and when he felt like there was nowhere to go he turned to suicide.
We’re a very close family and i would often see him and lived with him for a lot of my life which made his death very hard for all of us in the family especially because of just how good of a man he was.
One thing i remember as a kid when he lived with us was me watching him play wow for ages and him teaching me the different mechanics of the game for hours. As he got older he began to play less but still talked about it sometimes. At one point he and his group were ranked #1 in their server/world im not sure ive never played surprisingly.
All i remember about his character was his ingame name was “Capen”, its a longshot since it was so long ago but if angone knew him and had stories id be very interested to listen.
I want to finish the post by saying anyone who is going through any problems mentally in their life please go to speak to anyone, you are not a burden and suicide is not youre only option i promise. And to everyone please check up on the people around you before its too late im sure eveyone in my family feels almost guilty for not sending that one message that couldve stopped him.
Thank you for reading this far if you have done.

Legion was the best, IMO
I've played since 2004 so I dont' have rose tinted goggles for it either, it was the best. Class order halls were amazing and added so much flavor. Made me actually want to play alts and I'm still bummed they did not carry this feature forward.
Classes for the most part never felt better. They were perhaps slightly overpruned and the specs didn't have enough shared utility but the designs were mostly elegant and every spec was exciting thanks to the artifacts and generally great design.
The content schedule was perfect and every patch was good. Nighthold? S-tier raid. ToS? S-tier raid. Antorus? S-tier raid. Also introduced mythic+ and world quests which are still pretty much pillars of the game, but they were at their freshest and most tightly bound into other systems in legion.
BfA was a good expansion but everyone was disappointed it because legion just went to 11 on so many different levels it was really hard to live up to.
Despite having played all of the patches when current I have no issue in most classic stuff, but when Legion classic is released that's gonna be my jam.

of (one of) our questionnaires, wherein we provided our institutional contacts and emphasized our availability for inquiries (which could very well entail data deletion requests, which we would fulfill).*
* *An orthogonal way to study AIA is to carry out a user study (either through interviews or surveys) focused on moderators (of course, after explicitly inquiring for their consent to participate in the study). For instance, it is insightful to ask moderators about the policies they adopt in their communities with regards to surveys; or for their opinion on the “perceived risk” of AIA in their community. Finally, we further stress that, while sharing our surveys, we typically had to provide much information about our own identities. This is why we do not believe that the moderators of the communities we considered in our paper are a weak
link that can be easily exploited by evildoers. Indeed, our stance is that moderators take great care in their duties (and it is commendable that they do so without receiving any form of compensation). Nonetheless, if future work (during the course of their research) identifies that moderators represent a significant “vulnerability,” then it is important to disclose their findings to such moderators beforehand—following the
principles of ethical disclosure [25].*

Evoker mains, how many of you are planning to stay evoker in TWW?
Obviously anything can happen between now and launch, evokers could get screwed on their rework/hero talents or an old favourite spec might get a huge glow up. But as it stands right now, who is staying a scaly boy?

A reminder that your Warband is your entire account, not the four characters on the character select screen
Seeing a ton of people on Q&A threads, social media, etc, misunderstand how the Warband system works. The most common misconception is that the four characters you choose on the character select screen are your complete Warband
Your Warband is every character on your WoW account. It's now synonymous with "account-wide"
From your main server alts to your secret Worgen on Moonguard and the Level 5 Dwarf Priest you forgot existed, every character on your account can earn transmog, transfer currencies, and access the bank

Why Can't We Hide Our Staff? It's Not As If We Ever Use The Bloody Things Anyways So They Just Get In The Way Of Transmog
This popped up to me again while playing remix and it feels a bit annoying that we can't just hide our staff, forced to carry around a big antenna that does nothing because we never even use the damn things anyway so why not let us hide it? Would make my transmogs look nicer because I'm constantly having to transmog the staff to quarter staff because the vast majority of staffs are ridiculously big as well. So just let us hide them, not as if it makes any difference gameplay wise.

Blizzard support in 2024 is an embarrassment
i play wow since 2012 and i've had multiple times of contact with different GMs through the time. i remember sending a support ticket and getting an answer from a real human being minutes later while i was ingame. chatting with a fast, responsive person was a great experience. but i guess it doesn't matter because all we get now is bot slop, pre-written answers that don't even respond to what you wrote. it is just really sad because blizzard HAD great support, they had it all there. they just chose that it wasn't important enough and destroyed it

An update on a recent University of Liechtenstein academic study (good news!)
Heya r/WoW
A little while ago, a research paper was posted to our subreddit, which we (and you guys, too) took great issue with. I won’t go into the nitty gritty here but you can [read this post](https://old.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/1db5imw/statement_on_a_recent_university_of_liechtenstein/) if you’re out of the loop.
---
Our intention when making that original post was twofold; firstly, of course, we wanted to raise our issues with the way the study had been conducted, but we also wanted to share the paper in order to bring to light the important issues it raised - albeit not in the most preferable way.
I was not expecting the post to garner as much attention as it did, but I was really warmed to see the community’s response - and there were a lot of really important points raised in that comments section.
So, we took our response further, writing an open letter to the IEEE CoG and the paper’s authors (this is in the post linked above), detailing the problems we had with the way the authors had conducted their study, and initially calling for the IEEE CoG to reconsider their acceptance of the paper to their conference (an international academic conference on gaming).
This was followed by a lot of back and forth, mainly over email, between ourselves and the authors with IEEE CoG acting as a middle man (or ‘mediator’ perhaps - but the emails weren’t at all hostile).
*This is a TL;DR - a more detailed timeline of events is provided in the stickied comment below*
---
Through recommendations by the IEEE, our feedback, and the cooperation of the authors, we were able to achieve the following:
##The outcome:
* The paper now highlights the vetting process that moderation teams have in place, and acknowledges that “an attacker would incur a substantial effort to exploit such communities for AIA.”
* The authors were required to remove any statements that imply a correlation between acceptance of their academic paper and facilitation of AIA.
* The authors have added our recommendations for further research to the paper’s supplementary materials (provided below)
* The authors and the IEEE have requested our collaboration, along with other gaming research professionals, on a follow-up paper to discuss user-ethics in research with regards to communities such as ours, hopefully improving and informing future academic study.
We are pleased to have come to a conclusion that will hopefully create positive change in the realms of academic research - creating a good situation out of a bad one.
I’d like to thank both the IEEE and the authors for being willing to hear us and learn from us. I’d also like to thank the research professionals who contributed their thoughts and recommendations over on Twitter. And finally, I’d of course like to thank you lovely lot for your feedback and support on the original post. You’re awesome <3
---
*The recommendations included in the paper’s supplementary materials:*
* *Future research seeking to study AIA3 (or other privacy related issues) can design their surveys so that users are asked about past experiences where they have shared critical information. For example, a question may ask participants if they have ever shared/linked their character’s armory page, or their (publicly visible) in-game profile before. Similarly, some questions can be used to probe what type of information participants’ are more (or less) comfortable to share in surveys. For example, a question may ask “On a [1–5] scale, how comfortable are you in participating in a survey asking for your age/gender/personality?”*
* *In any event, it is important to emphasize that participants are given agency in the “ownership” of the data they provide for such surveys. For instance, if the purpose of a study cannot be revealed beforehand (for valid reasons), the participant should have the right to delete their data, or to stop proceeding with the survey altogether so that their responses are not collected. We report in Fig. 1 the last page
Thanks MoP remix for making the 500 mount achievement that much easier.

This is an Appreciation Post.
Thank you to all the Pandria Remix enjoyers who run heroic dungeons and normal raids with stacked toons, one shotting everything. I am literally a father of three working 70 hours a week and I have very little time to play. You wonderful bearded sweats have helped me level 4 characters to max level. I have never had time to play alts before and with the help of you beautiful people I have now been able to experience leveling classes I’ve hardly ever touched in the 15 years I’ve been playing this game. I’m talking the 515 ilvl Hunters that are doing 97% of the damage in the raid, the cracked out Demon Hunter flying through the dungeon and killing the last boss before I’ve even looted the previous one, and the guardian tanks slashing in circles one shotting all trash before anyone else gets there. Truly, you are an inspiration and I tip my hat to you. I have been carried harder this last month than I was as a child. Seriously, Thank you.
Sincerely,
Your Average Pug Scrub
