HC FF14 Raiders thoughts on WoW after getting a 3k rating
Hey guys,
I recently tried out WoW since I have nothing to do in FF14, and it is a blast.
WoW combat is so much fun, it should be illegal for a game to feel this good.
So far, I have tried heroic raids in PF, maybe PUG, and obviously mythic dungeons.
After being max level for 4 days and 14 hours of playtime, I got the 3k achievement.

Here are my thoughts about a couple of things as a little disc priest.
Mythic Dungeons:
A lot of fun.
I have 6 out of 8 keys on 13, the others are on 12.
I think there is a rotation of dungeons every season, which makes sure it never gets boring.
Also, having increased difficulty is a great way to create endless fun content.
The fact that trash pulls and bosses have mechanics is really nice, because it rewards knowledge. It does not matter if it is mitigation, priority targets, CC, or just mechanics. It also does not matter if they are hard or not.
The people in there, however, are wild. Groups can go from playing with Timmy Turner, who does not know how to clean his own ass, to Johnny Awesome, where people use their cooldowns and interrupt properly.
Obviously, that is normal for a solo queue style of content, but the behavior of people is interesting.
Being somewhat toxic seems normal, and I kind of appreciate it, because it helped me learn whether I made a mistake or if it was someone else.
However, people are leaving groups very quickly, even in low keys.
Maybe I was just unlucky, or maybe that is standard, but once I hit +10 and above, I see it more frequently.
General behavior I have found:
Tanks
Generally the most straightforward people, and they seem to be the leaders.
Generally good players. I can only remember two tanks that were questionable from my limited time in mythic.
I whispered a couple of them to learn why we died, because it seems they have a lot of awareness.
DPS
As I said before, I either get goofy goobers or absolute giga chads.
Good DPS players keep up interrupts and mitigation, I really love you.
They also seem to find groups the fastest, in my opinion.
I cannot say much about healers, since I am doing that myself.
Let us talk about heroic raids in PF
Mechanically, heroic raids are really easy. I cannot speak about mythic, but WoW players seem to get overwhelmed when bosses have even a single important mechanic.
Obviously, you have that in every game, it is not something exclusive to WoW.
But if someone messes up a mechanic, like the breath on the dragon, you can potentially kill five people, and then groups disband very quickly.
But I love seeing so many people on my screen killing something.
I cannot say much more about raids. I wish I could do mythic, which leads to my next point.
Gatekeeping:
This is just my subjective view, but the higher I get in rating and raiding, the more gatekeeping there is.
I feel like I need ten years of experience for a job that was invented three years ago.
A lot of groups straight up rejected me, not for being bad. I would say my logs are totally fine for my playtime, but for not having played long enough, not playing a meta class, or even for playing a bad race, which is wild.
This makes it hard to do mythic raids properly, but I will find a way.
The more casual community is really chill, though.
Without them, I would not have learned a lot of small things about the game.

How fragile are keys?
Was doing a +10 Windrunner Spire with 2 pugged DPS, we wiped in one of the pulls (5 deaths) near the beginning and one of them (277 gear lvl) immediately went AFK and requested an abandon, we refused as we were pretty sure we could still make it in time.
Guy just stood AFK near the entrance for the rest of the run, the other DPS (his friend as they queued together as a group) was at least trying.
Does a wipe immediately mean a key is bricked? I was under the impression that WS has a relatively lenient time.
I would love an add-on that flagged players with this type of behaviour to avoid queueing with them.

Responses to the M+ milestones.
I’ve see so many posts of people excitedly sharing their M+ milestones this season, whether it be 2.5k or 3k and having a slew of people in the comments shitting on them for this season being “too easy” and “3k is basically free”.
Here’s the thing I’ve noticed. Good players, people who regularly smash past 3k haven’t said anything about M+ achv’s becoming more accessible. If anything, I’ve only seen positive things, making WoW more accessible and letting people feel good brings and keeps more players, more players = keeping WoW alive, most players at the top end are in support of this. If the new respectable score for the upper end is 3.5k? Well that’s what the new goal is.
You know who has been crying the loudest? The people who baaaaaarely scraped 3k last expac. The people who get 3001 and start popping off like they are on the road to the MDI. These are the people that are jealous of everyone. They wish they were better and at the same hate on anyone who they perceive to be below them matching their achievements. The ultimate display of fragile insecurity.
So the next time you see someone celebrating their milestone, and you decide to comment that “3k is basically last seasons 2K”, just know the rest of us are laughing at you lil buddy.

Let Blood Elves and Void Elves share hairstyles
With the elven unification and the High Elves being allowed back into Silvermoon, and their NPCs have access to both Blood Elf and Void Elf customization options, it would be great if we players can have access to both too.
That way we can atleast look like a proper High Elf on the Alliance, and some Blood Elves can look a bit edgier. This way we have more customization options for both races, who are important in the current story, without requiring new resources.
I’d like High Elves as an allied race for the Alliance, and Amani Trolls for the Horde, but I don’t think that will happen. I’d also like new hairstyles for both races, but it can take a while before all races get new customization options. Hopefuly atleast in Last Titan.

So... Can we talk about how shitty this profession has become? People previously complained about Alchemy and the problems to learn new recipes, but JC currently seems impossible to even level?
Not only most basic recipes go green rather quickly but they *all* seem to require gempowder, which one is only able to obtain by grinding 3 *equal* gemstones. But gemstones also have a ridiculous drop rate, even fully speced to obtain them, so you end up destroting 300 ores just to get around 6-7 gems most of which will be different and thus unavailable to grind for powder...
Really, either add a drop chance to Miners for gemstones or remove that crap of requiring equal stones for grinding. Powder is powder regardless of which gems are ground, right? /endofrant

Posts seeking validation are getting out of hand
"Nasty player said I wasn't very good at the game. Please validate me" posts several times a day are completely unnecessary. You don't need to write an essay just because someone was an asshole in a dungeon.
