Should I get a used Xbox one or just invest in steam and gamepass?
I used to have a xbox one s back in 2022 but I had to sell it because I thought I would be going too far away from home for college but it turns out that I didn't.
I used to enjoy gaming a lot on my xbox and gaming doesnt feel the same without it
I'm thinking of grabbing a used Xbox one from CeX once I make enough money but that's gonna take a lot of effort and a really long time so I'm reconsidering it.
PC gamepass on the otherhand is pretty cheap but I don't get the actual console experience that I yearn for
so I'm kind of confused and conflicted.

I didn’t know what formatting was before I did it to my external drive.
All my games are gone😕
For some context my games on the external weren’t working so I look for a fix, someone on a different post got the answer to format the drive.
I had no Idea wha that does but I tried it and now all 120 of my games are gone.
Kinda just wanted to vent here about it. :/

It's been awhile since I played Xbox and I kinda want a refresher on all of the subscription options.
Been a couple years since ive played Xbox one, and I tried googling about stuff like gold, ultimate, gamepass, etc. if I could have all the info I need on these on a single reddit post, that's why I'm posting here cause I'm too lazy to research it. I also want to see if I can get info about these I may've not been able to find.
Just need some people to elaborate on the specifics on all the subscription options like gold, ultimate, gamepass, or any other that may exist.
I also want some personal experiences. Are these worth getting? Are they of any use?

External SSHD turning on and off
I have my Xbox one X on instant on mode, and every 30 seconds-ish the hard drive turns off, then on, then off. I wanted to know if its harmful at all and if so what i can do?

If I start playing a game on game pass and then buy the game from the Microsoft store,will my progress carry over to the version I bought via store?

Xbox remote install
I bought FC 24 on GameStop and my Xbox said that I had to redeem on redeem/microsoft.com and not on the Xbox store. I did that and now I am trying to remote install(which seems to be the only option) from Microsoft’s website to my Xbox. The only problem is that it does not allow EA and other brands for this remote install. FC24 is an EA game. I am stumped and there are no helpful articles for this issue.

Xbox One S not signing in
I may be cooked. I’ve been turning on my Xbox and the settings work and I can browse but when I sign in it just doesn’t work and keeps displaying signing you in. I’ve restarted it multiple times and tried the power cycle thing but to no avail. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

XBOX Gift Idea
I’m travelling from Hungary to Brazil to meet my gf’s family, and her brother loves his XBOX.
I’m not a console player myself, so I’m kind of in a bind as to what to give to someone as a gift who is.
After searching through the subreddit, if I got it correctly a gift card bought in Hungary (or Amsterdam airport) will not work in Brazil
If that’s the case, are there any accessories that he might like that might be easier to give than a gift card that will not work?

Controller Disconnecting
Hey all,
So I recently bought a new elite controller for my xbox one and I'm having the same problems as I did with my older controller. It keeps randomly disconnecting and reconnecting, both while trying to play and when idle.
I bought this controller because of this exact problem happening prior. So now I'm wondering if it's the xbox itself and if anyone has found a solution yet.
Both controllers have had new batteries, are synced to the xbox, have been fully updated, the xbox is updated and connected to the internet, the xbox has been fully reset... the only option I have missed is connecting it with a cable, as I don't have a wire long enough and if I wanted to play wired I would have bought a wired controller.
I feel like there isn't much point in taking the controller back (is insured and under warranty) as this problem isn't limited to this controller.
Sorry if this reads a little ranty, it took me months to take the plunge for this new one as it was £77 with cover and it's not fixed the problem so I'm quite gutted.

Discord trouble
Hi I'm having troubles to join a discord server, everything I try to join it keeps loading and the it says "you disconnect from the server try again"

Random Controller Disconnect
I’m at a loss here, I’ve tried almost everything I can find online so I’m just looking for someone who may have any suggestions.
Background: I have had this Xbox one since like 2018 or so, never had an issue, but just recently started getting back into COD after playing competitively in the past and needing a break. The past month or so has been fine, but just today, my controller started randomly de-syncing from the console. Given it was an old controller, the sync button wasn’t super crispy anymore, and I just bought a new one. Did the firmware update on the controller, re-synced to the console, adjusted settings and configurations, and it’s still randomly disconnecting about every few minutes for ~30sec to 45sec and then reconnecting, just long enough to watch a 12 year old tea bag in front of me and get a kill.
Anyone have any experience or suggestions with this? I know it’s an older console now, is it just cooked? Do I need to break out the classic towel trick? I’m not really sure what else to do before I toss it and start fresh.

Problems on original Xbox one controller
It appeared yesterday (27/04). Now the X button just doesn't respond and it behaves like its always being pressed. However, it doesn't seem to be a problem w the button itself, rather w the eletronics. Also, the left analogic seems more sensible. Any ideas on what is going on? Sorry for bad english, I am a native portuguese speaker.

Buy a series X or upgrade PC
alright I’m not sure if I’m asking this in the right subreddit (if I’m not please tell me what subreddit to post this on)
to start I already have a PS5 mainly for PS5 exclusives and I have a PC with a 1660 super and ryzen 5 3600, recently I gifted myself a brand new Sony 4K TV it’s a very nice tv and I’ve been spending a lot more time gaming and watching shows on it, anyway PS5 exclusives are quiet atm and I know Xbox game pass is stacked full of games I wanna play especially since I don’t have to pay for the games full price with it’s being a monthly subscription.
Plus with a lot of games going on gamepass day 1 it’s very tempting.
I also know Xbox game pass is on PC but not all the games I want to play are on the “PC version” anyway my question is do you think it’s smarter to go out and pick up a brand new $800AUD series X or upgrade my GPU most likely to a 4070ti super what is around $1300AUD at the moment.
now I don’t necessarily need to upgrade my pc due to I really only play destiny 2 on it and I get around 100 -120 ish on 1440p (what is perfectly fine for me)
But if I was to try play Xbox story games and I would like to play on 4K because I want the best experience for my TV most games won’t hold stable 60fps
Another point I would add what is really just a personally one but I really enjoy trophies hunting now I saw online that not every game on PC Gamepass has trophies what is another reason I’m leaning towards the cheaper Xbox series X over a pc upgrade.
I did also have a 360 back in the day so going back to older games with the backwards compatibility would be a bonus with the series X
I also know with upgrading a GPU in a pc it’s only time before everything else has to follow just making it a pricy job.
at the end of the day I just want to come home have a massive selection of games to pick from no hassle and just play

Xbox one s bought in Hong Kong, can't use it anymore
I bought a Xbox one s in Hong Kong a few years ago (it was cheaper with the currency) and now I can't use the console because of the new China laws and I need a Chinese ID to play games with it. I tried changing the country but it won't let me. Is there anyway to fix this or do I have to sell it for parts?
